“Alisha and Nick were amazing! They helped me last minute to care for my pup so I could enjoy my wedding day. And they sent so many cute photos! I will definitely be keeping their number and calling them again!”

“Molly was so amazing! We wish she would be able to be an everyday occurrence for our puppy! She sends us pictures and updates on feeding and drinking. She is also very observant. Our puppy had stitches and she let us know when two out of the four fell out!”

About: I’ve cared for my own dogs and cats my whole life. I have experience with both young and senior dogs and cats. They bring me so much joy! I also volunteer weekly at the Animal Humane Society where I walk dogs, care for animals that are there, and help with the adoption process for prospective pet owners! I’m on summer break so I have plenty of availability to check on your pets/ take your dog(s) on a walk! I may be unavailable on weekends- or certain days throughout the week. But for the most part, i’m free. I have a fenced in yard for both of my dogs, and keep them on a leash whenever we go on walks. Safety is very important for me.
About: Hi there! My name is Jenna and while I’m home I would love to watch your pup. I am a foster parent for many different rescues in the area including Cocos Heart, Across America Boxer Rescue and Rejection Collection Boxer Rescue. I have fostered everything from 10 week old puppies (yes I have the chew marks on my couch to prove it) to the unforgettable seniors! My home is full of dog beds, treats and all the loving they could ever want. I have a privacy fenced in backyard and provide kennels as well for safe spaces too. I would love to cuddle your fur baby while you are away. I will be returning to the office here in January but I can offer a safe space via kennel or pen while I’m at work (no longer than 8 hours). I do have some hybrid days that I may be home to give extra cuddles. When I’m not working, I’m home. While home, treats, loves, pets, outside time are in the agenda. When I am not home safe space kennel time with soothing music until I return will play. My privacy fence covers 90% of my yard with a fenced gate covering the other 10%. Your fur baby will not be outside unattended however. I also have a boxer that if they get along they are welcomed to play together, however if they don’t get along no worries! Being a foster parent I know how to split my house and time between to babies. I also have cameras set up so I can keep an eye on the babies at all times. Your fur baby will be treated like royalty when they are staying here.
About: Growing up, my family has always had pets, so I’ve been around animals my whole life. We’ve also done in-home dog sitting for the past 10 years and have fostered numerous dogs and cats through Lucky Paws Rescue for about 8 years. I’ve cared for pets of all ages and sizes, from puppies to seniors and small to large dogs. I also have experience fostering paralyzed dogs and caring for animals with medical needs, including diabetic pets and those requiring medications. I’m a college student who works full time during the summer normally a 3-midnight shift. I’m looking for fun side hustle during the day so dog walking/pet sitting is something I’d be good at and enjoy! I love pets with all my heart! My dogs at home have the option of leash walking and a fenced in yard, both work very well for them. While pet sitting and fostering I’ve had to handle all sorts of dogs while leash walking; the ones that chew the leash, tug, and the easier the ones, but I love them all! Every pet I visit will be treated with love, care, and patience.
About: I am pursuing an animal science degree while also working at a vet clinic. I have experience with many different animals from cats to dogs to horses. I am able to stop in right away in the morning around 6-7am, in the middle of the day around 12, and also in the evenings. I love creating an environment where your pet is comfortable while you’re away! I have lots of experience with different types of pets and would love to cater to each individual pet.
About: I've had pets (dogs of all sizes, cats, fish) since I was 7. I currently have a dog of my own. I've trained her. I am always happy to watch, play, feed, bathe, and walk dogs. I am a stay-at-home dog owner, which means taking care of your dog is my main priority! Doggy day care and boarding is always available. I usually accept all dogs. I only refuse service if the dog has previously bit me and/or continued aggression. I have one very friendly female dog (spayed) who loves to make new friends and spend time with old ones. I keep dogs typically in the living area, uncaged. I only cage dogs if the owner requests it, and in a different room from the other dogs. I do have another helper (my fiance), as he also enjoys dogs very much. My walking route is usually around Glen Park, I change it up as needed to boost the adventure for your dog(s). **Water will ALWAYS be available and replenished for your dog(s). Food schedule based.**
“Elizabeth did an excellent job caring for my two cats over a long weekend. She was punctual, kind, and quick to learn my cats' specific routines. I have one cat who is quite shy and typically hides from visitors (even family members who visit regularly), but Elizabeth managed to earn his trust on the very first visit. My other cat requires an inhaler twice a day and can be quite squirmy, but Elizabeth administered the dosages without any issues. Elizabeth sent updates after every drop-in visit, complete with cute photos. She even watered my flowers outside. I was able to enjoy my vacation knowing that my pets and my home were in good hands while I was away.”

“Vanessa is a true cat-lover and our cat was comfortable with her from the first time they met. She took excellent care of him while we were away on vacation, followed directions, and I would highly recommend her to other cat parents.”

“Alex was great! He handled our high energy dog very well. Millie was a happy girl when we got home! He followed our instructions and I felt very comfortable that Millie would be well taken care of on the drop in visit. Would definitely recommend Alex!”

“Courtney reliably came twice a day to take care of our fur baby and make sure she was well-fed, had water, and the litter box scooped. We'll definitely request Courtney for future pet sitting needs.”

About: I have a deep love for animals that has been with me since childhood. I am currently in the process of establishing my own animal foster care facility, catering to all kinds and breeds. It is my dream to provide peace of mind to families in need of care for their pets while they are away on business or vacation. I believe in ensuring that all pets are properly cared for, loved, and happy. I am dedicated to giving as much love as possible to all the little creatures in my care. I make sure that my own pet has plenty of adventure and companionship for a healthy and fulfilling life. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. 🩷🙌🏼 I am available to care for your pets on weekends as needed! Short term visits and long term visits for a Friday to Sunday if needed. I have two small dogs who are extremely friendly! I can also travel to your home as needed and stay with your pets from a Friday to Sunday. I can help on weekdays for drop-in visits…. However, I do not get done with work until 4pm. My two pups enjoy seeing new parks and love their hiking adventures - when they aren’t doing that, they are cuddling up at home with each other. I can help take care of your pets to your desired schedule / routine for them.

Just let me know what your pet needs, and I’ll make it happen!
“5 stars! Feels weird to rate a person on a star system, but….. I absolutely would recommend Annika. Very communicative, thorough and timely. Came home to a happy well cared for pet. 100 percent will book again next time I’m away.”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hammond. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
