commented answer What should I do if a person and their dog are attacked by a dog being walked by a dogwalker who gives them false information and I know they work for Rover?

Thank you for saying that. I do it because it's the right thing to do. I usually don't get any recognition so that was nice. The last report I received from the injured party was that now that we have an address (I remembered it from a meet and greet years ago) the police will now take over.

Thanks Walt. The owner contacted the police. I remembered where she lived so I let him know.

asked a question What should I do if a person and their dog are attacked by a dog being walked by a dogwalker who gives them false information and I know they work for Rover?

This is a bit of an ethical, moralistic question. I was reading a post on social media about someone who was walking their dog and there was a dog walker walking a pit and a small dog across the street. The pit got loose from its harness and attacked the dog and owner sending both for medical attention. There was a neighbor who helped. She obtained contact info and name of walker and when she asked the address the dog lives at she was told that she didn't know it. The walker contact info was false. The owner is understandably upset and trying to find walker and owner of dog. In the post was a description of the walker who had a identifying feature that enabled me to know exactly who it was. I sent her a message the only way I could think of sending a dog walk request. She did not respond. The injured owner also called customer support and was told without a phone number and email there's nothing they can do. I feel for the injured dog and owner and want to help locate the responsible person. What can I do?

commented answer Can I charge to take a dog to the vet to have stitches out after they have been spayed ?

Sorry, ran out of space. I just charged for gas because I feel like my time is already being paid for for housesitting.

commented answer Can I charge to take a dog to the vet to have stitches out after they have been spayed ?

I just had to deal with this myself. The only problem is I could not charge pick up or drop off because it won't come up for housesitting in their house. I talked to customer support and I just had to put it in as additional fee. I didn't feel it right to charge for time I'm already being paid for.

commented answer Can I wash my dog with Dawn?

I have also used Dawn per Veterinarians orders on cats with Organophosphate toxicity caused by owners applying canine topical flea treatment. Advantix is the most common as it is only for use on dogs. The cats have neurologic symptoms and we must quickly wash it off of them and start treatment.

answered a question Can you connect me with someone to help with sub-q fluids for a cat?

There are some sitters that are also techs like me. I'm a RVT which stands for Registered Veterinary Technician. I am state board licensed in California. I have administered SQ fluids to cats through Rover. You would just need to look for someone that states in there profile that they have a background in Veterinary medicine.

commented answer Can I give my promo code to first time Rover clients who find me only directly through Rover as well as those who I recruit thru my profile link on FB, Craigslist etc?

That's what I thought but i saw someone put it in their profile.

asked a question What should I do when dog wont stop barking at me on my first night sitting?

This is my first night sitting for new clients. I had a meet and greet and dog initially barked at me at the door and seemed stand offish after entering house. When I came to pick up key yesterday he did the same thing but warmed up to me after a bit and was even licking my face. Today when I came into house he barked at me as before and I had treats with me as before and did not look directly at him, crouched down to his level, turned my head away, Had treat in outstretched hand which he took and he ran away to bedroom. When I prepared his food he came to me, sniffed me while being very much on guard, skittish. He ate his food but continued to bark and growl at me as he ran back to bedroom. Previously only family has watched him. They recently moved here. The owner knows of his behavior and I tried all of her suggestions. Hes a lab and is obsessed with his ball which I did throw for him during the meet and greet but he was not at all interested in anything. The owner said it was ok for me to not spend the night, this was before this problem. Obviously I wont be able to spend the night since he is using the bedroom as his safe spot. Thats not a problem but how do I get him to go outside to eliminate tonight before I leave? He will not come when I call even when I say all his happy words like walk and ball. Any suggestions? How long is he going to act this way? I once had a dog bark at me for an hour straight but this is ridiculous. I know not to go towards him, I need to let him come to me. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

answered a question Dog attack what should I do?

Im so sorry you had to go through all this. It sounds terrifying to have a dog attack you.

When I was having an issue with giving medication to an aggressive cat I called Rover Support right away. They are there to help us when we run into any problems like aggression. I also called them when I had a dog bark at me for a half hour straight before she finally settled down.

As far as injuries to us I really do not think that they are responsible for paying for our medical bills. I have asked Rover and was told this information. The insurance they have is for the client not for us. Sorry. I wouldn't feel so bad about everything. It sounds like you did the best you could. Good luck.

asked a question What do you do when you get dropped by a client without explanation?

I have recently been dropped by a couple of clients and I'm wondering how i should handle this. I felt that I was doing a good job. How could I find out without sounding like I'm insecure. I would like to learn from my mistakes if that is at all possible. Any suggestions on how I could find this out?

commented answer Housesitting request: adult dog and puppy. Puppy fee and additional dog fee?

Thank you. I will definitely go in and change my additional dog fee. I try to stay competitive with others in my area but I don't want to cheat myself out of what I deserve.

asked a question Housesitting request: adult dog and puppy. Puppy fee and additional dog fee?

I received a request to housesit an adult dog and a puppy. I'm not sure who puts the fees in on the original request. It was put in as puppy fee and additional dog. I'm thinking this is wrong. I thought it was supposed to be standard fee for adult dog and puppy fee for pup. I have m & g with adult dog today and can meet puppy closer to time of housesitting as pup is in- laws dog and doesn't live with dog but they will have him for a couple weeks prior to dates of housesit. I went back into request and changed fees to standard and puppy fee. This is a new client and I want to do the right thing. Any advice?

answered a question Why is my dog vomiting yellow?

I did not see date but good advice for anyone with vomiting dog I agree with the advise already given. We don't know anything about your dog like age, breed, if he could have gotten into something, what he usually eats, his medical history. There are a lot of things that can cause vomiting. It could be nothing or it could be something serious like an intestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, etc. If your dog is small like a yorkie he could become hypoglycemic from withholding food for a period of time. If your dog is not small I agree with Hillary as to what and when to feed after vomiting. i do want to add not to let your dog drink a lot of water at once. This can cause your dog to vomit again. After vomiting offer water frequently but small amounts until he feels better. Ice cubes are a good option if he wants to drink too much water at once.

Other things to keep an eye on are his activity level. Is it normal or is he depressed or lethargic? Check gum color to make sure it's nice and healthy pink, not pale or brick red (dark red) or blue.. Do his gums feel tacky when touched by finger? Does he want to eat? Is breathing normal? If any of these things are not normal or if vomiting continues have him examined by a Veterinarian.

answered a question My labrador is underweight I think, He is 2.7 Kg only at the age of 1 Month & 1/2 months old?

6 weeks is awfully young for a pup to already be separated from his litter and mother. How long have you had him? Can you see how other littermates are doing? Do you have any history on your puppy about his mother and father. Has he been wormed? Puppies get their immunity against viruses from the colostrum that is in the mothers milk when they nurse in their first 24 hours of life. This immunity starts wearing off around 6 weeks of age which is why it's so important to start their series of vaccinations as Erica recommended and he definitely needs to be examined like Erica and Walt recommended.

Anything you get online is not always trustworthy. The only person qualified to give out advice is a Veterinarian. Or a knowledgeable RVT like me (lol). Please spay or neuter your pup so as not to add to the horrible overpopulation problem.

answered a question Is cesar food good for my dog?

I would highly recommend you watch the Documentary Pet Fooled. I found it in Netflix. It really opened my eyes to The Pet Food industry. It is poorly regulated. Yes bi products are every gross contaminated meat you could imagine. Lately they've found euthanasia solution in some of the meat. It's a farmers horse, roadkill, the big bloated cow on the side of the road with maggots rotting away...you get the idea. The problem is the dog food industry is so huge they manufacture many different brands in the same factory. Dry food is bad. Preservatives and the drying process is causing cancer, Auto immune problems and more.

Raw meat diet is best. Dogs have the necessary enzymes to kill the bacteria. We just need to wash hands and area its prepared on. Unfortunately its expensive but saves the vet bills.

Watch Pet Fooled!

asked a question Are sittters and walkers required to fill out and send a Rover card?

Do dog walkers have to fill out and send owners RoverCards? Do you have to do one for drop ins as well? I thought this was required.

asked a question Can we work for other dog walking companies?

Are we legally bound to only work for Rover? Will we get in trouble if we work for other dog walking companies?
