Why would Rover change my availability due to delayed Meet and Greet?

I have customers contact me well in advance of the booking date, and a meet and greet is arranged a week or two out based on mutual availability. The app keeps trying to have me accept the booking, but the meet and greet hasn't happened yet. It also says they will make me 'unavailable' until I accept or archive the booking. Is there something I should be doing differently?

I've never had this happen. Did you schedule the meet/greet thru the app? Then it should recognize it. I've some one my schedule right now that have been waiting several weeks because I didn't want the meet/greet too far ahead of the booking so the dogs would forget and Rover never commented.

Honestly, I've yet to see Rover block my calendar when a request is not yet booked. But I know the calendar does goofy things sometimes. I think that's just a standard message, anyway. For example, if I have 3 open spots and 1 dog is pending, leaving me 2 definite open spots, I still get that message. My regular clients tend to send me a message even if I'm booked (or they don't look at my availability). If you're concerned you might miss out on opportunities b/c your calendar is blocked due to tentative bookings, you can either move to Archived or just up the number of dogs you can take. Keep in mind, though, that if you are pretty sure you're going to have the dogs, you should keep the spot unavailable. I also agree with doing Meet & Greet's sooner rather than later. This way, if the dog or the owner is not a good match, the owner has plenty of time to to find someone else, and you have more time to fill that spot. I also generally have them book as soon as they're able, so I don't have to remember that an unbooked is confirmed just not yet confirmed through Rover - because Rover requires payment at the time of booking if someone is unable to pay in advance I'll leave it unbooked until they can pay. And BTW - I've done that a few times and have yet to have someone that couldn't afford it in advance cancel on me (I'm sure that would be a concern for some people seeing this). Good Luck!

You may want to schedule MnG's when requests are received, and not delay them. For example, I have a booking request for September, we are doing the MnG today.

No need to delay it.

According to your profile, you only offer drop-ins and walks. I didn't think that this situation would occur with those services since sitters/walkers are capable of handling multiples of each on the same day. I don't do either of those services, so I am not familiar with the settings. Is there a setting which is limiting your availability to accept multiples for the same date?

In the case of boarding, just archive the request if you want to stay available to other potential clients. You can still book a request that has been archived and keep in touch with the client.

However, you should always let the client know that someone else could book you for the same time period and you can't leave a spot open for them. That is why you should have your M&G as soon as possible.

I think they changed the archive to decline and archive. You set the number of clients you can handle by category -- 6 walks, 3 drop in, 2 boarders as an example. One should not overlap to the other....I don't know if I'm making sense. Most of the Rover site is less than user-friendly.

I do meet and greets but I often forget to schedule them in the app. I haven't noticed changes with my bookings or anything as a result but I'd hope it wouldn't mess with the calendar. Of course, its the best idea to do meets whenever possible but I don't think it would be wise to change settings based on marking them.
