I've had an inordinate number of people changing plans before confirming their bookings. Why so many flakes?

I've have a lot of bookings in the past month that have gone like this:

  1. Owner contacts me
  2. We chat, then schedule a meet & greet.
  3. We meet up. The pet & I hit it off. I seem to impress the owner. I hit confirm on my end.
  4. The owner never hits confirm and I inevitably get a message saying that their plans have changed.

Now, if it was just once or twice, I'd believe them and let it slide. This has happened 7 times, 5 in the last month. There have also been 3 other bookings where this happens, but those at least have the owner telling me that they're getting a different sitter. So, what's the deal? Why am I getting so many flaky clients?

Iโ€™m literally just in the forum because 35 minutes before a meet and greet I get this: โ€œI want to cancel. I am using another person from Rover sorry" ๐Ÿ˜‘

Welcome to the world of pet care, things like this happen all the time to all of us and there is little you can do except accept that's the way it is. Best of luck

This happens a lot on Rover. There were a lot less clients shopping around on DogVaycay before that got bought out by Rover. Hang in there, the more clients you book the less new meet and greets you will be inclined to go to. I have great customer retention repeats and so I haven't had to look for a new client for a while but I don't look forward to all the meet and greets its one of the reasons I have not accepted new clients as well.
