Drop-In Starting Soon with No Confirmation--How do I handle this?

I have a drop-in in 15 minutes, and I still have no confirmation from the owner, who is my next door neighbor! We spoke earlier, she said that "nothing happened" after she tried to submit her credit card in. I asked that she try a different card and then contact Rover Support if it didn't work. I messaged her the "how do i pay" from the help pages, and I still have no response. I know she is traveling right now, so I want to give her the benefit of the doubt... However, I want to be able to send a Rover report card, and I want the accountability that Rover provides! I also don't want my booking score to be affected!

I'm still going to let the dog out and feed her since this is my neighbor, and I know she's out of town for the weekend! I feel for the pup!

I agree, if the owner had not made a payment then you are not obligated to care for their pet. If she plans on paying you cash explain to her that she will not be covered under the Rover polices. Just because she is your neighbor does not mean you have to provide a service to her that you normally charge other people for.

Thank you! She made no reply when I gave her the Rover Support number, and the request has expired by now. It’s now a non Rover issue :-/

I don't think that she is trying to take advantage of you or not pay you for your services.

I am glad to hear that you have been dropping in on her pup as the two of you discussed. I know that this puts you in a hard place especially with her being your neighbor but I am sure once you talk to her again everything will be resolved. She honestly may have had a lot on her mind and trying to figure out the rover payment was just too much for her to deal with at the time. When I have been in situations like this I try to give the owner the benefit of doubt, that it was just an honest mistake. The next time you talk to the owner, I would mention to them that you have been checking in on on her dog, you know that with her travels she has a lot going on, however you really need her to go onto the app to finalize the reservation. That Rover really frowns on sitters entering homes prior to confirmation of the reservation, and you are hoping she can take care of that payment before Rover notices and you get in trouble. (Granted it doesn't exactly work that way, but your neighbor does not know that. And hopefully, this will push her to hurry up and make the payment.) Best of luck, let us know how it turns out!

If she hasn't made payment, then there is no booking. When all else fails, tell your neighbor to call Rover Customer Support at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team]. They'll take her credit card number and make sure you have a valid confirmation for the work.

I am not sure about this. I almost find it hard to believe that she would leave the house to go travel without a booking and paying you, with no other conversation about the dog? Like, would she really rely on you that you will do the job anyway and she doesnt' have to worry about it? And did you go there?

She’s actually my neighbor. I gave her the Rover Support hotline, and she made no comment regarding it, and by now, the Rover request has expired! I’ve still been dropping in on her pup bc the dog’s alone with no one else to feed or let her out :-( :-(
