Dog Having Accidents ALL Over Owner's Home?

I agreed to housesit for two dogs this week, one of whom is a seven month old puppy. The owner assured me that the puppy was "95% housetrained" and would be fine as long as she was let out often. In the last four days that I have been watching her, she has had between 15-20 accidents in the house, despite being let out literally every 20 minutes and never left alone for a second. I feel lied to by the owner, and worried about potential property damage to the owner's home. The dog has diarrhea all over the carpets, which I am able to clean up but not prevent staining to the carpets. I am worried that I will be held responsible for the dog's accidents on the carpets, even though I have done everything in my power to make sure the dog is not let out of my sight and goes out to go potty up to 4 times an hour. Should I share with the owner that the dog had that many accidents, and that I have done my best to clean up the messes? I don't want to get a bad review, but feel very lied to by the owner, and looking back should have never accepted the booking.

I just had a dog that was 10 months old. I was told the dog was house trained. Well, she peed on my floor and my couch. I did tell the owner what happened and the owner felt very bad. I always tell the owners when this happens and never get a bad review.

Hi Harley:

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this! If the dog has diarrhea, you should contact your client and ask what they normally feed the dog when he/she has an upset stomach. The diarrhea could be caused by something the dog ate prior to your house sit, or from stress. You could also call their vet listed in their care instructions for any bland food to feed the dog and advice on food and water intake during your stay. Is there any way to gate off a bare floor area (such as the kitchen) until the dog feels better?

That is why i do not take dogs under 2years old. I've had supposedly older trained dogs mark and have accidents in my house which is not acceptable, so I bought male doggy diapers in all 3 sizes. If a dog marks they get the diaper on and i limit what parts of the house are accessable to them. I think even trained dogs when in a new environment can be stressed and have accidents, or want to mark their new territory. I'm lucky that I have a big house with a concrete rec room that problem dogs get to sleep in

I do sitting in my own house, and nothing makes me more angry than a dog who is supposed to be housetrained that pees absolutely everywhere. If it's bad enough, I just crate train them for the stay, because what else can you even do?

If it's looking like permanent damage, I'd contact the owner. Do they not have a crate to keep this puppy in? Isn't that how you potty train dogs in the first place?
