Next Day Pets

I've recently been looking for a Yorkie breeder in my area and came across nextdaypets.com. I am a little taken aback by this service that essentially allows you to select a puppy and have it mailed to you.

Has anyone ever used something like this?

They have a ton of negative reviews, you might want to check that out. Customers are saying it is indeed a puppy mill.

With millions of visitors monthly for 12+ years a few bad reviews is not reflective of the hundreds of millions of visitors and families we have helped find homes for happy healthy puppies. http://NextDayPets.com works very hard to ensure we thwart fraud and protect pet lovers. -NextDayPets.com

It is a scam! I had to pay a $25.00 application fee and give a short reason as to why I wanted this cute little yorkie. I never heard from them again.. I'm thinking about going to get legal help for this SCAM!

It is a scam. Same experience as Wanda. Paid $25 for an "application." Never heard from them. Try AKC marketplace, or http://gooddogs.com.

Ive sold 5 puppies through next day pets. Its not a scam. Ive definitely had correspondence with everyone that purchased from me for several weeks after delivery to make sure the puppy was adapting ok.

A lady once mentioned to me that she was waiting for a dog that she purchased and it was being mailed to her. I wasn't exactly sure how on earth it was being mailed but when I saw her a few days later she said she was still waiting and that everyday the breeder or whoever was mailing the dog was putting up excuses as to why she had not received her dog. Needless to say she never got the dog, so yes, I would think it's a scam. I am not sure why anyone would buy a dog without seeing him/her or interacting with them.

One way to prevent being scammed is by asking the breeder to take a photo of the puppy with a piece of paper that has your name written on it....

I think there is a general misunderstanding here. A dog (living creature) cannot be mailed, even if someone would specifically want this - it doesn't even sound right... However, dogs can be shipped by airlines and they have to meet very strict regulations for the wellbeing of the dog.

Yikes. That's terrifying. I also can't find anywhere on their website that says exactly what they do. Is it like petfinder.com for breeders, where they just list available dogs, but you still have to go through the listing organization to purchase? Or are people really putting these puppies in the hands of an intermediary who will facilitate transport without all the (DRIPPING WITH SARCASM) hassle of applications and approval processes? The whole thing looks really sketchy.

Hi Laura. Actually http://petfinder.com is one of the largest pet adoption website owned and operated by Nestlé S.A. (one of the largest pet food manufacturer). You must have thought of another website?

I would be really, really hesitant about purchasing/adopting a puppy or adult dog I've never met in person...

Please, please don't buy your dog at nextdaypets. They are a terrible puppy mill, but they are very sophisticated in fooling people into thinking they are not. You really want to get a dog that is healthy and well-socialized. Here are some questions to ask the breeder: Can I see the father and mother of the dog? Can I visit your home and see how the dogs live? What is your health guarantee for the dog? Have you tested for hips and other medical conditions common to the breed and can you ensure that the breeding parents are free of these issues? If I can't keep the dog, will you as a breeder take the dog back? How do you socialize the dogs before I get them? Do you ship pups? (I would want a breeder who insists on the puppy buyer coming to the house to pick up the dog. That means they care about their dogs and they care about the prospective puppy parents.) I know it's really tough to do the research and wait, but the responsible breeders usually have a waiting list. They want to be sure the puppy is wanted. Here are some good links, to very sad reports on puppy mills done by the Humane Society. http://www.humanesociety.org/news/publications/whitepapers/puppy-mill-research.html%3C/p%3E (http://www.humanesociety.org/news/publications/whitepapers/puppy-mill-research.html)

Not every breeder on nextdaypets is a puppy mill or a scammer. The issue is that it’s just a place to advertise and the site owners don’t police it at all. I have listed pups there and never had any issues. My puppy buyers are all vert happy. I lost on many sites.

AKA they also use the brokers name Pawrade! Scam They do not tell you they are brokers. After I spent over 3,000 these people would never help when I got ripped off. To find out they are hooked to next day pets, which they already have your money. The goldendoodle I bought came sick and could tell it laid in its body fluids for more than a day! The vet said the puppy had been sick for a while, it bled for weeks. On top of it, I bought a standard to find out his parents are mediums. This place, pawrade posted false advertisement of this puppy I have their write up as stating the weight and it was a full standard 60 plus . The company they deal with really doesn't exsist. The doodle shop has pages but not one review so no where to leave a review.. its becsuse thry only use companies like this,, next day pets, puppy find or their page page. They are not even on BBB. They also never told us we could pick him up, if we could we would have never bought! Im stuck with a 3800 loan with a huge scam, medium dog I can't use as a disabled Veteran Service Dog they don't care. Pleass run from this place! I have photos!

I see a huge problem with the dog world. NextDayPets is just one of the websites catering for dog lovers and breeders... and they are one of the better ones - even if it is hard to believe. Sure they could do more but they are definitely better then the other dozen who come up at the top of the search engine, such as http://puppyfind.com.

One of the problems is that these classified sites have not evolved over the years and allow all sorts of people, organizations and breeders to advertise. Yes, this includes good, ethical breeders and puppy mill or back yard breeders too. But how could one tell the difference between one or the other? No way or not an easy way. So, no surprise if people fall into the arms of the wrong group of "breeders".

Also, since these sites are also in the business of making money and they want more advertisers to pay subscription, it would go against their business interest to limit the advertisers to approved breeders only.

I believe there is a better way to promote responsible breeders and help future dog owners make the right choice. This requires a couple of things: transparency, all necessary information to be available on one site (page) and a strict screening or approval process of the breeders (they must be a registered professional breeder).

This is the vision of https://wuuff.dog/en which aims to serve the dog community internationally. The site is still very young and will evolve over time, but the owners are committed to make this a better world for dogs and humans.

Here is what a typical https://wuuff.dog/en/valburg-rackeresztur (Tibetan Mastiff breeder) page looks like.

Share the love!

http://www.nextdaypets.com (Next Day Pets) isn't a site that lets you get a dog or puppy mailed to you. NextDayPets in fact is the only company that polices dog breeders, requires they verify their identity and upon the few cases of reports of sick puppies, breeders get banned.

You might be matching people up however there is ZERO reputable breeder that will let you buy dog sight unseen. If ANY of your sellers offer that as an option, thats called a irresponsible breeder which is just as bad as a puppy mill. Because then it's obvious its all about the profit.
