About: I’ve been a dog & cat owner since childhood, and I’ve looked after family & friends’ pets for almost as long! I am no stranger to pets young and old, energetic and slow, shy and outgoing, nor am I a stranger to caring for pets when they’re ill, or have a few special needs here and there. I am comfortable with keeping up with training and regular enrichment. Additionally, I drive and have a car and I am more than happy to do any picking up & dropping off, as well as trips to the park or the beach! I currently work at a restaurant as my main job, so while I have some downtime before the summer rush hits I’m usually available Sunday-Wednesday! As well as mornings Thurs-Saturday. I understand that every pet has its own set of needs, and one cannot paint with a wide brush when it comes to pet care! I am happy to follow whatever direction given, and exchange wisdom when appropriate!
About: I have over 35 years of experience with pet/house sitting including work with reactive dogs. I am comfortable with walking , bathing, providing first aid/medical care, or administering meds for all sizes/breeds of dogs or cats. I have a green thumb and can provide plant care/daily upkeep of home. With solid references you’re assured that I will respect your homes safety and routine for your pets. Non smoker. I am semi retired and have flexible availability for your pet. I enjoy being outdoors and love utilizing our harbour, beach or parks/ woods nearby for exercise. I offer pet and house sits, drop in animal care/checks and dog walking. I have my own vehicle and can provide references from past clients. For extended stays/sits I am open to discussing a pro rated payment for my services.
“Jacob was calm and friendly and Yoshi really seemed to like him. We were away for 6.5 hours and came home to a happy, fed, and unstressed puppy. We would certainly have Jacob back to look after Yoshi and Tucker.”

“Awesome job. Rhonda is so responsible and communicative. Needless to say our animals adore her! Always leaves the place better than she found it. So grateful for you dear Rhonda.”

“My husband and I travelled to the Dominican Republic for a week, and Grace stayed with our 15-year-old cat, Jersey. Grace sent pictures or videos a couple of time each day and I could tell Jersey was comfortable and all of his routines were being followed. Our home was spotless when we returned and the peace of mind Grace provided us while we were away was priceless . We would highly recommend Grace, and will certainly be reaching out to her again when we travel next.”

About: Use code JOANW91601, to get a 20$ discount on your first Rover booking. I am brand new to Rover! I’m a retired animal lover who has owned dogs all my life, including both small and large breeds such as Shih Tzus, Boxers, and Labradors. Since retiring, I’ve realized how much I miss having dogs, and caring for other people’s dogs has been the perfect solution, and I absolutely love it. My home is quiet, calm, and perfect for dogs. I live in a house with a large fenced backyard where dogs can safely play, run, and enjoy lots of fresh air. Why Owners Choose Me ✔ Retired and home most of the day ✔ Large fenced backyard for safe playtime ✔ Lifelong dog owner with experience with many breeds ✔ Comfortable caring for large dogs and small dogs ✔ Experience with medication and special care needs ✔ Calm, quiet home environment Over the years I have also become the designated dog sitter for my family’s “grand-dogs.” These include a wide variety of breeds such as: • Pomeranian • Boston Terrier • Olde English Bulldogge • Bullmastiff • American Bulldog • Dogue de Bordeaux Because of this, I’m very comfortable caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities. I also have experience with: • Puppies • Senior dogs • Dogs that require special care or medication. Because I am retired, I am home most of the time, which means your dog will receive plenty of attention, exercise, supervision, and companionship. I enjoy the time together as much as your dog. 😊 Dogs staying with me will enjoy a calm, loving environment where they will be treated like part of the family. I don’t take dogs out for neighbourhood walks (my own feet betray me from walking long distances 😉), but I make sure they get lots of exercise and playtime in my large (and safe) fenced backyard. I spend time outside with them playing fetch, tossing balls, and keeping them active. My goal is always to make sure dogs feel safe, relaxed, and loved while you are away.
About: I'm not as new to professional pet caring now, but I'm constantly learning and I have respect and love for animals. I have cared for pet dog and cat from puppy to old age and I am always learning from experts on how to handle most situations that will arise. I am able to be extremely active and engaging with animals to ensure they are properly stimulated and socialized. I take my job very seriously as a guardian of a pet myself I know that they are as much family as pet. I will always take special care to listen to a pet's guardian's advice on how to care for their pet so that they are properly taken care of as they deserve and expect to be treated. I’m currently self employed and mainly work at night when my dogs are asleep. During the day I am free to look after not only my dogs but also other people’s pets as well. When I’m not working I’m often taking care of my dog’s needs. I follow instructions from pet owners and ask about their pet to find out what kind of care they need. Every dog has its own personality and needs and I do the best to treat them as their owner would treat them so their stay is as comfortable as possible.
“Christine was super understanding with our needs for Buddy. New puppy never been left alone and readily accepted our request for a meet & greet before the actual booking. Highly recommend her.”

“We had to leave 15 year old fur baby for 3 weeks and we left him in Michelle's care. She followed all our notes that we had left and was proactive in letting us know how he was doing. Michelle took not only took care of our furbaby, but our plants and our home very well. Happy to have Michelle look after our guy anytime!”

I have a particular interest in caring for senior pets and extra-large breeds, with an understanding of their unique needs. I hold a background in Animal Behaviour and currently work remotely in tech, allowing me to offer reliable, full-day presence and attentive supervision. Having cared for dogs, cats, and horses throughout my life, I deliver personalized care tailored to each pet ensuring their comfort, safety, and your complete peace of mind. Working full-time in a remote tech role while pursuing a computer science degree gives me a uniquely flexible and reliable schedule. Being home throughout the day allows me to provide consistent supervision, regular walks, timely feedings, and close attention to each pet’s needs. My work setup is structured yet adaptable, so I can easily accommodate routines, medications, and extra care without disruption. This balance of professional discipline and at-home availability ensures pets receive steady companionship, attentive care, and a calm, stable environment. Safety, trust, and a comfortable environment are the foundation of how I care for pets. With my veterinary background, I’m used to noticing small changes early and making sure pets are always safe and well looked after. I stick closely to their normal routines to help them feel relaxed and secure, and I keep their space clean, calm, and free of anything risky. I also believe in clear communication and treating every home and pet as if they were my own, so you can feel confident they’re in good hands while you’re away.
“Stephanie did a great job watching my two dogs overnight. She stayed in touch and cared for my dogs like they were her own. I would highly recommend Stephanie if you are looking for a dog house sitter.”

“Both of our dogs were well taken care of, were able to stay in their own home, and we were able to enjoy a holiday away. The daily updates definitely give peace of mind. Thank you Andrea!”

“Aarthi was a fantastic help to us house and pet sitting our elder dog and energetic cat while we were on vacation. It was important to us that our pets could stay in an environment they’re use to, especially our 14 yr old dog who is starting to slow down. Aarthi was flexible to meet ahead of time, see the house and understand their routines. She has a warm and friendly personality, and her affection for animals was evident from the moment we met her. She kept us informed as to how they were doing and sent a few pics too. We will definitely have her back!”

About: I’ve been around dogs since I was about 3 years old, so understanding them comes very naturally to me. Over the years I’ve learned to read dog body language well, which helps me understand when a dog is relaxed, playful, nervous, or needs space. Because of this, I always approach dogs in a calm and respectful way and make sure they feel safe and comfortable. What sets me apart is my patience and attentiveness. I pay close attention to each dog’s behavior and personality so I can respond appropriately—whether that means giving them space, engaging them in play, or helping them settle down. I also understand what not to do around dogs, which helps avoid stress or uncomfortable situations for them. For me, caring for dogs is not just a task—it’s something I genuinely enjoy. I treat every dog with kindness, patience, and respect, just like I would treat my own. I work as an IT professional from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to spend plenty of time with pets during the day. Because I’m home most of the time, I’m able to give dogs regular attention, playtime, and walks while making sure they feel comfortable and safe. I’ve always loved dogs, and instead of getting one of my own right now, I enjoy caring for dogs in my neighborhood. It gives me the chance to spend time with them, understand their personalities, and make sure they get the attention and care they need. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, and I enjoy making dogs feel relaxed, happy, and well looked after while their owners are away. I live in an individual house with a fully fenced yard, providing a safe space for dogs to play and relax. I work from home, so pets receive plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship throughout the day. I also have two pet-loving kids who understand how to interact gently with dogs, and all interactions are supervised to ensure the pet feels safe and comfortable. When caring for pets, I follow the owner’s routine closely, including feeding schedules, walks, and playtime, so the dog feels relaxed and well cared for.
About: I was born into a home with pets. My parents, my grandparents, aunts and uncles, all had pets. It was the most normal thing in the world to have a dog or cat cuddle up to me while I played with my toys, watched movies, or did my homework. It was the best kind of life and I am honoured everyday to have lived in the presence of such amazing animals. I couldn’t imagine my life without a pet. Up until this past March, I had a cat named August. We would go everywhere together, on car rides, camping, even sometimes on walks. He would get excited to run, and probably irritated that he could outrun me, but mostly he loved the car. I had always wanted a dog, but I’m waiting until I own a house, for security and space. In the meantime, I melt into other people’s dogs. I love how excited they get to see me, the love they experience in me before they even know me is overwhelming, and it makes my heart melt. I once had a passenger tip me a large tip because her dog, who hates people, loved me. It makes me feel a little impatient to have one of my own but I’m not there yet. So, until then, I am looking to spend time with, caring, for other people’s dogs. I welcome the opportunity to be a part of a dog’s world, even if only briefly, and hopefully I melt into them as they do into me. I am an artist (singer/songwriter and writer of prose) and an Uber driver. My rates are what they are so I can take the time needed to spend with your pet, and focus far less attention on work. Tending to the care and attention of another’s animal would be an excellent inclusion into my artistic process. As an Uber driver, I can take the time off, so I can focus entirely on the fur baby in my care. We will go on walks, enjoy each other’s company, and eat according to their set schedule. I am flexible and willing to meet the special demands of your little one. I will ensure any physical aids your dog requires, from medications to physical supports, will be handled with the utmost care.
“Richelle was fantastic with our dog, Sophie. We had a family emergency and needed a dog sitter on a very short notice. Rochelle came to meet us and Sophie at the same day and did an amazing job looking after our senior pup the next day. Sent updates, photos and came up with all kind of tricks to feed our picky eater. We really appreciate your help, Richelle!”

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cobourg maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cobourg walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cobourg choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 70% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
