About: I love all animals, whether I have cared for them before or they are new to me. I emphasize research into ever evolving pet care for all my animals and am always looking for ways to improve quality of life for them. I feed my cat and guinea pigs in the morning before work, make sure there's enough humidity in the gecko habitat before leaving for work. When I grt home from work I do all their clean up care and then feed the geckos and play with them. I spend about 45 minutes hanging out with my guinea pigs before bedtime and their night feeding. For the safety of my guinea pigs I won't be offering any pet sitting in my own space as they have a very large free area to roam
“Melanie did a great job of taking care of our dog while respecting the house at the same time. We had great communication through her entire stay and she sent a bunch of photos. She was patient with our animal and asked questions when instructions or things were not clear. Happy with it all 😊”
“Thank you so much Chloe, you made Ringo feel safe and happy, it easy to book and communicate with you, and you left our place cleaner then we left it! We appreciate your help so much and ringo looks forward to hanging again.”

“Mala was the absolute best! She was so thorough with her care and communication. I always knew how the pets were doing, and I knew they were safe and well cared for when they were with her. I highly recommend Mala to anyone who is looking for a pet sitter, you won’t be disappointed and you will have a care free vacation with her taking care of them!”

“Rebecca was amazing! She is a lovely human and my little Luna took to her right away. She arrived on time and accommodated a last minute time change request. I would not hesitate to book Rebecca to care for you fur baby!”

“I can’t express how grateful I am mahnaz was available on such short notice and so accommodating of our dog Charlotte. Will absolutely be reaching out again for more dog sitting if she’s available! Thank you mahnaz!”

“What lovely people! They were so attentive to detail and took such great care. I felt very calm and relieved to have them watch my girl while I was away. I will definitely book again :)”

“Teagan did a great job taking care of our anxious dog and 2 cats. She stayed over at our place for 2 nights and left the place clean and organized. The animals were well taken care of, fed and kept company.”

“Laura and Nelly were amazing with our pets while we were away! I was so nervous to leave them, as one of our dogs has epilepsy, and it is the first time we’ve travelled since he’s been having symptoms. Although he did have an episode while we were gone, Laura and Nelly handled it like experts, and kept me informed and calm the entire time. I cannot thank them enough!! I would never hesitate to request their service again, and highly recommend them to others!!”

“Ramona was excellent with our very nervous boy. Kevin is very wary of new people, and we've only had him for a few months. Ramona was patient and eventually won him over. She maintained constant communication and gave us photo and written updates. We were able to enjoy our time away and be confident that Kevin was receiving the best care.”

“Kevin is very friendly and easy to talk to, he was great with my dogs and they loved him, he stayed in my home over few nights and provided good care and company to them. I received daily updates, communication was great, he always available and quick to respond. Kevin followed all my instructions and made my travel easier by providing good care of my pets.”

“Emily was very communicative and shared lots of pictures which we loved. She also took our energetic dogs for nice long walks every day and played with them outside. Our home was left clean and tidy, we would use her house sitting services again for sure.”

“Kayla took care of my 3 cats for a whole week while I was away in Europe and it went extremely well :) my apartment was extra clean when I came back and my cats also seemed super calm and happy. She also updated me and sent pics once a day (as I requested). I felt that my cats were in great hands. Kayla would definitely be my first choice of cat sitter if I ever go away again.”

“Jennifer is a fantastic sitter! She knows how to put anxious pets at ease, not to mention anxious pet parents. She sent so many photos and videos throughout the stay. It was reassuring to see my babies so happy in all the photos and videos. It was also easy to see how much she loves animals. I wholeheartedly recommend Jennifer.”

“Inci is awesome. She communicated before, during and after the visit, sent lots of pictures. My dog got lots of loving from Inci and her fiancé. My home Was left spotless. All the dishes were done and away, the linens were washed and folded. She even cleaned up what I refer to as “messy corner”(that place where I just drop stuff until I have a chance to organize it). We will definitely be using Inci again. Thank you Inci.”

“Neeru was wonderful with my ten month old kitten. My kitten has high energy and needs a lot of stimulation and playing. He is also very selective about the humans he gets close with. Neeru played with him, took him on leashed walks every night and more importantly gave him lots of affection and attention. I told her that I tend to get anxious when I'm away from the kitten so she sent me multiple updates and pics and videos every day! I came home to a calm well-stimulated and well-nurtured kitten. I'm so glad I found Neeru on Rover.”

“I had Abigail watch my 65lb miniature Poodle & Bernese mix, in my home, for 6 days (during a heat wave in July). My fur child is 10 years old and quite particular with her diet, meal/snack time and frequency of leashed walks and backyard time. At our meet+greet, Abigail moved with confidence around my rambunctious dog which in turn calmed my dog down. I could tell she is an experienced and genuinely caring pet sitter. During my time away, Abigail kept me up to date on my dog’s wellbeing and was quick to respond to my messages. I came home to a happy, healthy dog and a clean house (just as I left it). I have no doubt that Abigail took the best care of my dog. I appreciate her professionalism and her natural inclination to put the pets in her care first. Thank you, Abigail!”

About: I am from a household of pet lovers - 2 bengal cats, a potcake puppy and a king cavalier. I care for these animals on a daily basis working from home. Taking care of these animals includes daily walks, basic grooming, changing/maintaining litter boxes, potty breaks, feeding them, giving them their medicines, playing with them, etc. I have dog sat for family and friends before but am new to the Rover app! I am a full time student and working part time as a server. I am looking forward to walking dogs before and after classes and on the weekends. I also am interested in dog/cat sitting on the weekends. I will not be offering in house services due to the many pets at my current household. I do want to make any of the animals uncomfortable! I will be offering services at clients houses (pet sitting) on the weekends and dog walking around the neighbourhoods the animals are comfortable walking in.
“Our dog is 12 years old and I have never hired a stranger to come and stay with her in our house. I was so fortunate to connect with Bronya to stay with "dazzle". Dazzle often doesn't make up with new people that come to our house. Dazzle loved her. I was pleasantly pleased there were no hiccups and my house was just how I left it. I would recommend Bronya for taking care of your pet and will keep her in mind for possible future repeat care.”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Clarence-Rockland is $50
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Clarence-Rockland
We were so lucky to find Amanda - it was a very last minute thing! She agreed to babysit with only a 40 hour heads up, and even came for a meet and greet first. Amanda shows up on time, is very pleasant, kind, and polite, and very sweet! My German Shepherd, in particular, showed great enthusiasm towards her (my other dog is shy and nervous). I could see right away that Amanda feels very at ease with dogs, and I could also see that she loved large dogs, as she played with, and patted, my Shep with an obviously experienced attitude! She's great. I will definitely rebook! :)

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Clarence-Rockland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Clarence-Rockland walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Clarence-Rockland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 86% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
