“Jennifer is a fantastic sitter! She knows how to put anxious pets at ease, not to mention anxious pet parents. She sent so many photos and videos throughout the stay. It was reassuring to see my babies so happy in all the photos and videos. It was also easy to see how much she loves animals. I wholeheartedly recommend Jennifer.”

“What lovely people! They were so attentive to detail and took such great care. I felt very calm and relieved to have them watch my girl while I was away. I will definitely book again :)”

“Ramona took excellent care of our kitties and sent lots of pictures and video updates daily where the cats were playing and cuddling with her. She also took great care of our home where all was neat and tidy when we came back. We will definitely book with her again! Thank you Ramona!”

“This was the first time that we had Jamie stay with our girls, and she was amazing. So friendly, constantly keeping us updated, and keeping our girls happy and occupied. We would absolutely book her again.”

“Johanne has a beautiful calm energy. My complicated Mr Squish sat with her on the first visit which says alot about her character. We look forward to her next stay which is already booked. Merci !!”

About: While I don’t currently have a dog of my own, I’ve spent years caring for dogs through family, friends, and my time helping at a veterinary clinic. During that time, I gained hands-on experience handling dogs of different sizes and temperaments, assisting with their care, and accompanying them to obedience training classes. I understand the importance of patience, positive reinforcement, and maintaining a safe, structured routine. Whether your dog loves long walks, playtime, or simply relaxing with good company, I’ll provide dependable, loving care and treat them like they’re part of my own family. I’m currently not working and would love to spend my down time caring for animals as it has always been a passion of mine. Schedule is pretty flexible. I believe pets are happiest when they can stay in the comfort of their own home and maintain their normal routine. I take the time to learn each pet’s schedule, including feeding, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any special instructions. I provide plenty of attention, affection, and enrichment while also respecting each pet’s individual personality and comfort level. I currently provide care in my clients’ homes rather than my own, as I want to ensure every pet is in the environment where they feel safest and most relaxed. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away.
About: What sets me apart is my genuine love for animals and my ability to tailor to each pet’s unique personality and needs. The animals care is my top priority Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine. I’m able to plan my days around pets’ needs, making sure walks, feeding, playtime, and check-ins are consistent and never rushed. I enjoy building my schedule in a way that keeps pets comfortable, calm, and well cared for. I provide personalized in-home pet care, including daily walks and attentive care for both cats and dogs, ensuring they feel comfortable and loved while in my care.
About: I’ve been a dog lover and owner for many years, and caring for dogs has always been a big part of my life. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of raising and caring for Mack, my black Lab who has been part of our family since 2012, Lilo, my beloved Miniature Pinscher who has passed away, and Harley, our Boston Terrier and Dachshund mix. Today, I share my life with Cookie, our four-year-old German Shepherd. Having experience with different breeds, sizes, personalities, and energy levels has taught me the importance of patience, consistency, affection, and understanding each dog’s individual needs. I know that pets are family, and I want every dog in my care to feel safe, comfortable, loved, and at home while their owners are away. I’ll treat your furry family member with the same care and attention I give my own! My daily routine includes three walks a day, plenty of playtime, affection, and cuddles! ❤️ I want every furry guest to feel safe, happy, and right at home while receiving all the love and attention they deserve. 🐾 Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my priority! ❤️ I provide a clean, calm, and loving environment where every pet is treated like family. I follow their routines, respect their individual personalities, and make sure they receive plenty of attention, affection, and supervision. With my own German Shepherd, Cookie, I understand how important it is to feel confident that your furry family member is in caring, trustworthy hands. 🐾

“Une personne exceptionnelle, totalement de confiance intègre et elle a traité nos poilus avec un amour inconditionnel, je recommande Christine à 500 % Juste du wow 😍😍😍😍 Merci tellement et on se revoit bientôt.”
About: A previous dog owner, I truly loved and miss the companionship. As an animal lover, my son who is 13 now is ready and I would like to get him a dog so this is a good way to expose him to doggie love. I work from home all day, have fenced yard, big home and we are across from paths and green space. I love to exercise and I walk daily. I won't be taking more dogs than I can reasonably handle so you need not worry that your dog is one of many. Each precious friend will get the love and attention they deserve. If you want to board with me, your loved one must be good with kids. I will crate your dog if you require it but you must supply the crate. I work from home, my husband is retired so someone is always here. In summer my teen son is also home. We have tons of flexibility and love to go for daily walks in our neighborhood. We have a fenced yard at the end of a crescent street so quiet not a lot of traffic and we live across the street from a path and green space. We can crate your pup if required.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have Kayla house sit and watch my cats three times now. I have come home to a clean apartment and happy cats each time! I’m hoping to be able to book her again next time :)”

“Abigail was a great pet sitter for our fur babies. Kept us updated with messages and pics while we were away which alleviated any concerns we had about our dogs. Our flight was delayed a few days and Abigail kindly accommodated our request for an extension and the transfer of our dogs to a family member. Left our house spotless. We will definitely be calling on her again.”

“River took such great care of our 4 pets and home while we were away. River sent beautiful pictures of our pets and we could tell that they all looked so happy and well cared for 🩵🩵 River was accommodating for our dogs and brought them to their favourite parks and gave them both some grooming love too! I hope to be able to book you every time we go away!! Thank you so much.”

In addition, I have many years of pet sitting and dog walking experience, working with energetic puppies as well as senior dogs who require a gentler, more attentive approach. I tailor my care to meet each pet’s individual needs — and their owner’s preferences — ensuring they feel safe, happy, and loved at all times. I’m comfortable with long walks, administering medication, reinforcing training, and providing consistent, reliable care. As a friendly and enthusiastic individual, I’ll always keep you in the loop with regular updates and photos for complete peace of mind. Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your postal code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighbourhood.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Russell maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Russell walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Russell choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, a background check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Payment is handled securely through Rover. For a one-time booking, your payment method is charged at the time of checkout when you submit your booking request. This charge will include fees payable to Rover. Your booking is confirmed once the sitter accepts it.
If the request is not accepted, the pending charge is released in 1-7 days. How long it takes to disappear from your account depends on your payment provider.
For eligible recurring weekly services, you are charged for the first week when you book and then each Monday for the upcoming week. You’ll see the full price before you confirm. Always pay through Rover so your booking remains eligible for the Rover Guarantee and support.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
