About: I bring several years of pet sitting experience, including caring for multi- animal homes with four cats, a dog and even chickens. I’m comfortable managing detailed routines and making sure each pet receives individual attention. I have some experience administering medications (mainly in dogs), which makes me confident with senior pets and animals who require structured medical care. Having grown up around both household pets and farm animals, I’m comfortable with animals of all sizes and temperaments. My experience is wide but my approach is the same- I treat every pet like they were my own. I work full-time in Wallace, with most weekends off, which gives me great availability for pet care during evenings and most weekends. While my apartment unfortunately doesn’t allow pets for boarding, I’m happy to provide care in your home anywhere from Wallace to the Amherst area. I’m also available for check-ins before and after work, though daytime visits are limited unless you’re located close to Wallace. I treat your home & pets as my own, following routines closely and keeping them safe and happy, and loved while getting plenty of attention and exercise.
About: I've raised and cared for pets my entire life. Whether it's my best friend's diabetic, blind pug or a rambunctious and energy filled bully. I was fortunate to take formal training with my own dog in Calgary, with a company based in dog psychology and pack mentality. It opened up an incredible world and has given me the confidence to have deep and meaningful connections with dogs from all walks of life. I have shared my life with many cats, and currently have two. I appreciate their love, boundaries, and unique personalities. Non verbal cues and body language are everything, meeting your animal at the pace they set. I work full time but can easily do early morning and later afternoon visits, noon visits, evenings, and weekends. I can potentially keep your dog overnight if you are away but would need to meet them first, as I do have two cats in my home who deserve to be comfortable in their own space. I can follow your routine to the best of my schedule and ability. I always walk on leash. I do not have a fenced yard currently but would prefer to be outside with them when they need to use the bathroom anyway so I can monitor their surroundings and therefore their comfort in an unfamiliar environment.
About: What sets me apart is my genuine love for all animals, along with over 10 years of experience as a pet owner and sitter. I’ve cared for cats, dogs, and other pets for friends and family, including senior animals and those requiring medications. I’m comfortable administering pills, giving special attention to older pets, and adapting to each animal's unique personality and needs. I bring patience, attentiveness, and a calm demeanor to every visit, ensuring your pets feel safe and cared for while you’re away. Pet care is a fulfilling part of my everyday life, and I’m currently available full-time, which means I can fully accommodate your pet’s needs throughout the day or week. Whether it’s regular feeding, bathroom breaks, playtime, or walks, I’m flexible and able to align with your schedule. I take the responsibility of pet care seriously and ensure I am present, punctual, and fully engaged with each pet I care for. This isn’t just a job to me, it’s a joy to spend time with animals and make sure they’re happy and healthy. offer in-home pet care, meaning I care for your pets in the comfort and familiarity of your home. I follow all instructions you provide, from feeding schedules to exercise routines and any medication needs. My goal is to maintain your pet’s regular routine and provide companionship while you're away. I do not offer boarding in my home, but I am happy to stop by for visits, take your pets on walks, or provide overnight stays if needed. Cleanliness, respect for your home, and your pet’s wellbeing are always my top priorities.
“Christina was great, she left the house better than she found it and was very conscientious and responsive to messages. We had just the right amount of updates and she went above and beyond for the animals, treating them like her own family and loving on them. One of our dogs is particularly reactive and hard to deal with but she was a pro at handling him and keeping everyone happy, fed, cleaned and exercised. It was a relief not having to worry during our time away and we will definitely be booking again for the next trip!”

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Amherst maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Amherst walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Amherst choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
