Change in Payment Method FAQ

From 24 April, sitters in Europe will automatically have their payments deposited directly into their bank accounts. Sitters will no longer be able to receive their funds via PayPal.

Why is Rover doing this?

Last year we surveyed over 10,000 sitters and over 70% reported that they would prefer to have their payments transferred directly into their bank accounts instead of into PayPal.

The new payment method will reduce the number of steps, and manual effort, required to withdraw funds. Previously, payments made into PayPal then had to be manually transferred from PayPal into a bank account. Now the funds go directly to your bank account!

Will this change how I manage my funds?

Previously sitters could choose whether to transfer funds to their PayPal accounts automatically (when made available 2 days after the service they provided was completed) or manually (some sitters waiting months to withdraw their money).

When we switch over to bank account payments, sitters will automatically have their money deposited into their bank accounts after the service they provide is completed. Funds will no longer be able to be kept for sitters by Rover.

Is there a grace period?

There will be a grace period of 30 days, during which sitters can continue to withdraw their funds via PayPal. No new PayPal accounts can be added during this period.

If by the end of the grace period you have not added a bank account, we will automatically deposit any available funds into your PayPal account. You will need to add a bank account in order to receive future payments.

How do I add my bank account details to receive payments?

Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to: https://www.rover.com/account/payments/redeem/
  2. Select: + Add Account
  3. Add your account details including your name, account number, and sort code
  4. Wait for your money to come directly to you!

What should I expect when the payment method changes?

Our payment processor, Stripe, will take a little time to verify your identity and your bank account. As a result, the first transfer may be delayed after your account is initially set up. There’s no need to worry about this slight delay. If we have any issues with your bank information a member of our team will follow-up with you immediately.

Getting paid

Once your bank account has been verified, all of your payments will automatically be deposited directly into your specified bank account.

Just as before, your payments will become available 2 days after the service you provide has been completed. When funds become available they will be automatically transferred to your bank account (please allow 24-48 hours for the bank to process the deposit, just as with PayPal).
