Maybe. While corn syrup is not toxic, it has a high sugar content that’s not recommended for your dog. Dogs that consume a large amount of sugar on a regular basis are at risk for obesity and diabetes. If your dog has diabetes and is experiencing hypoglycemia, corn syrup is an option for your dog.

Symptoms to Watch For

If your dog regularly eats a lot of corn syrup, look for these signs of  diabetes:

  • Excessively thirsty
  • Increased urination
  • Dehydration
  • Weight loss
  • Lethargy
