Cheryl was great with both of my dogs. She was very quick in her responses and very flexible when I had to pick the dogs up a day earlier than expected.

Lucky’s service was excellent. Bella enjoyed herself and when she got home, was tired and slept all day. Lol. Lucky sent photos of my wild child even though she was all over the place. Will definitely be rebooking her AGAIN!

Verlee and her family provided a safe and friendly home for our Livie. This was our first time boarding our puppy and Verlee turned a stressful drop off into a positive one. The daily updates and pictures allowed us to see that Livie was enjoying her stay and having fun! We will definitely be using Verlee for future boarding. Thank you so much!

I left my 11 year old dog Zee for 4 days and went out of town. I received updates and pictures 3-4 times a day. Zee did not eat much the first day from her bowl so was "hand fed" by Radka to ensure she ate some....OMG! We discussed by text and made a food substitution that worked out..Radka went out and purchased the food with her own funds! She took care of my Zee like she was hers...She walked her, played with her, indulged her, and spoiled her (to be honest)..I felt so happy and contented with the care that I never worried like usual. My family joked that Zee would not want to return home.. Radka's adorable kids even helped out with Zee. What more could I ask for?..this was THE BEST experience i ever had with doggie care in 10 years!! Many thanks to this awesome family..I hope they don't get too popular and unable to take Zee next time I travel..

Kayce was so phenomenal with our 2 dogs! It was the first time we ever had to board them and we were therefore anxious. We echo the countless reviews by other dog owners on the amazing care Kayce provided. Her timely updates and attention to detail kept us at ease the entire time away. The level of care far surpassed anything we could have hoped for! She is such a lovely person; we are so fortunate that our precious pups were able to spend a week in such a loving home!

Christina and family put me at ease immediately with continuous communication and updates even before Kane’s stay. I loved their willingness to accommodate his sleeping and eating habits and even the daily walks by Christina’s husband was kind and thoughtful. Kane has an affinity for blankets and they sent Kane home with another to add to his collection. A lovely family who made our time away from Kane soooo much easier. Grateful and thankful!

Our dog Megumi had a phenomenal time at Cailey's! Cailey was easy to communicate with, both for planning our dog's stay and for keeping us up-to-date during the stay. She took excellent care of Megumi, and our Velcro dog was so cozy and at ease when it came time for pick-up that I think she wouldn't have minded even more time hanging out there lol. 10/10; recommend without reservations and would now consider her our go-to anytime the grandparents can't dogsit their granddog.

About: Lifelong dog and cat owner based out of Farmville. I currently have two six year old labs and two cats. All of my pets are highly socialized with other dogs. I have experience in sitting dogs ranging in size from miniature schnauzers to Great Pyrenees. My two labs are both male and littermates, so I also have lots of experience in keeping the peace! I have a large fenced in backyard with plenty of room to run and play. If you’d like any further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Dogs are out for an hour in the morning, an hour at lunch, and until dark after work (I will usually sit with them while they play or throw rope/ball). The cats make sure our household stays on a strict 7AM-7PM feeding schedule with little room for error before complaints are issued. As mentioned above, I have a large fenced in backyard where your dog will have plenty of space to move around. I have 2 6’x6’ kennels back there as well in case anyone needs a time out. I have crates of every size for guest dogs when I am not home and they stay in a separate area from my pets to further mitigate any issues that could come up. We have about 15 toys/ropes around the house/yard to choose from and never have any disputes. I am not responsible if your dog comes home to you fatter or more spoiled.

Sitters may also include daily walks in the neighborhood during your dog's boarding stay. You can also request photo and message updates throughout so you can see which local landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Blackstone home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
