I’m a rescue junkie.
My own dog, Lucy Lunchbox, is an alumna of Ruff House Rescue here in New York, an organization I now volunteer for by taking in foster dogs and completing home visits for potential adopters. I advocate rescue to friends and family considering a pet. I participate in Rover’s Sit a Dog, Save a Life program by donating a portion of my sitter earnings to rescue organizations.
And, of course, I love rescue dog videos.
My current favorite genre is the “rescue dog makeover.” There’s something totally moving about volunteers giving a neglected or abused dog the care he’s been lacking for so long—care that often leads to the dog’s successful adoption.
