“Laken did a wonderful job of caring for our cats.They are 11 months old and the girl Buttercup is very shy. Laken spent a lot of time down on the floor playing with them and showing them affection. She also kept the cat areas very clean, sweeping litter, scooping, and washing cat food cans before throwing them away. I returned to happy cats and an immaculate house. I am happy to travel again and will definitely call Laken to provide care.”

About: I’ve taken care of mine as well as my friends and families since I was 12. My entire life my best friends always had 4 paws. I was even going to study about them but instead I enlisted for the Army National Guard. I know all the techniques about bathing, clipping nails, dressing them and training them, all just from personal experiences. Getting a routine right matters a lot to me. I ask lots of questions upfront and pay close attention to the small stuff: think feeding times, meds, favorite routes, comfort items, quirks, fears, or behaviors, because those details are what make a dog feel secure. I'd rather over-communicate than guess. I lived with and cared for a reactive dog for 13 years, so I know firsthand what it takes to help an anxious dog feel safe, and how to prevent conflict in the first place. All my dogs have been rescues, and I have a soft spot for dogs who need extra patience to warm up. I'm not a certified trainer, but I've spent years learning dog training, body language, and enrichment, and every interaction is rooted in positive reinforcement. I will require a meet and greet with your pet in advance of the first booking so they can become familiar with me, and so I can become familiar with their routine and needs. My schedule gives me plenty of flexibility to be present for your dog, whether that's extra walks, playtime, or just being around for company, and I'm happy to talk through what kind of availability works best for your pet! I work from home which allows me the flexibility to prioritize pet care in a way I wouldn’t be able to with a traditional office. This gives me the ability to keep anxious dogs company, breaks for play time, medication, cuddles or walks when they are needed, not when they can be fit in. I create a calm, secure environment where pets feel safe and comfortable. Whether in my home or theirs, I work on building trust by moving at each pet’s pace and honoring their boundaries. Safety is always my top priority, I supervise pets closely, follow all instructions carefully, and adapt to their unique needs. I keep spaces clean, hazard-free, and ensure pets have fresh water, proper food, and quiet resting spots. For reactive or anxious pets, I use gentle, low stress handling & positive reinforcement or redirecting to help them feel calm and supported. Every care plan is tailored specifically to your pet’s needs after we discuss what works best for them.

“I would describe Chef’s stay with Elle as like staying in a Camp doggie … full of activities like off leash hiking In a park morning and/or afternoon , playing frisbee/ball in their big backyard with her family , and if you get lucky like Chef, you get to learn how to swim in the pool and learn how to jump like those agility courses . Chef stayed overnight for 5 nights , and he was treated like family . We are so lucky to have found Elle to watch our dog. And it was so nice that he gets to play with their border collie Eve , as well as other dogs in Elle’s care for the day . It’s really a nice feeling to leave your dog to a family that enjoys taking care of them as well as knowledgeable and very confident in all things doggie ? Oh and while we were away , we got so many updates like pics, videos of every activity that they did . It was fun to watch and very reassuring to see . Thank you very very much !”
