“Taking on a totally unknown dog from a cross-country road trip, IS a risk. We knew our senior dog Ginger would likely be stressed: 1st from the trip, and 2nd to be left with a stranger, in an unfamiliar environment. Linda really seems to love the dogs, she had 1-2 fosters there when we arrived (not sure, as I think I only saw 1). While I'm sure it was hard on both of them, we do sincerely appreciate her taking on our dog for a few hours, so that we could attend the wedding of an old family friend. For the past two years, I have also volunteered at the SPCA in Winchester, gaining hands-on experience with pets of all ages, temperaments, and care needs. I am confident working with playful puppies, senior pets, and everyone in between. I am patient, outgoing, and truly love providing animals with the care and attention they deserve. I am a student at Virginia Tech, so I have availability here and there throughout the day! I am also available most evenings/nights for longer periods of time. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or a client’s, I prioritize safety, trust, and comfort above all else. At my home, pets enjoy a fully fenced-in backyard for safe outdoor play, a walkable neighborhood for daily walks and fresh air, and a spacious deck that’s perfect for lounging and sunbathing. Inside, animals are treated like family in a clean, pet-friendly space with constant attention and care. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always respect their routines and space, ensuring their pets feel secure, loved, and well cared for in their own environment.

“Carrie was a life saver. Our original sitter cancelled on us at the last minute and Carrie took Ranger with no problem. He had the BEST time playing with all the other dogs and I know he was loved on. Ranger became ill while in her care (NO fault of anything at her house—just a fluke) and Carrie communicated with us and took great care of Ranger, maybe even spoiled him ;-). We would send Ranger to her again in a heartbeat. Very much recommend!!”

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life and have hands-on experience caring for my own dogs as well as dog sitting for family members. I’m comfortable with daily routines like feeding, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and giving lots of attention and affection. I’m available anytime on Fridays and weekends since I’m off work those days. Monday through Thursday, I’m available for evening visits and later times as needed. Safety and trust are my top priorities when caring for pets, whether in my home or in a client’s home. I always follow each pet’s routine closely, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, and any special instructions provided by the owner. In my home, dogs are always supervised. While my yard is not fenced, I take dogs out on a leash only to ensure their safety at all times. I never leave pets unattended outside. Inside, I provide a calm, clean environment with plenty of attention, playtime, and rest. I have a sweet, friendly golden retriever puppy who is well-socialized and gentle. All interactions are closely monitored to make sure every dog feels comfortable and safe. If a dog prefers space or separate time, I fully respect that. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I’m respectful of their space and follow all instructions carefully. I make sure pets are secure, doors and gates are checked, and I provide updates so owners feel confident their pets are in good hands.
