For dogs, that means consistent walks, potty break, and feedings that match their normal schedule. For cats, regular feeding times, litter maintenance, and plenty of attention if they prefer it! Since my shifts change week to week, I will always confirm availability ahead of time and communicate about timing! Your pets safety is my top priority, in your home or mine! I live in an apartment, so I’m mindful about creating a secure, calm place, free of hazardous foods or items. I love to travel and have recently started visiting baseball stadiums as a new hobby. I have several years of caring experience with canines as I have four little fur kids of my own 1-Chihuahuas (male-Jack) 1- Tomcat (Murphy) and 1- Female kitten (Lady). They will live as my Casey does… perhaps a bit spoiled. ;-). My aim is to have a dog friend or two over for a safe place where your pup can come and not be caged while you are gone. Casey needs the exercise but more than anything she wants friends! I am not looking to run a dog hotel, just a family environment with a loving atmosphere. Because of my job I cannot leave during the day for long periods of time so your pup will be by my side most of the time during my care. They make me so very happy, and I love to make them happy. I have 2 cats of my own and 5 niece and nephew dogs I have cared for and spoiled rotten for many years. I don’t get tired of playing, feeding, singing, or walking animals. I have just left a very emotionally draining job, caring for elderly humans and ensuring their happiness is always met. Now I’m ready to start fresh and have free time to care for your (furry) loved ones and ensure they are happy and healthy. I am comfortable caring for pets however they (and you) are comfortable with our visits. Their wants and needs is what’s important to me, and I will do my best to do what is needed.

About: Hi Loving Furparents, My lifelong passion is interspecies communication, animal care & behavior, ecology, and environmental conservation. I have grown up communicating, training/learning, caretaking, and translating for animals my entire life, and I continue to follow my passion for animal care, rehabilitation, conservation, and helping others learn to listen and communicate with animals. I have recently lost my soul dog and partner of nearly 16 years to osteosarcoma. I have experience learning life lessons our senior friends teach us; to slow down, smell the wildflowers, enjoy the little things in life, lead with empathy, lend a helping hand to one another, and be grateful for the moment we have together. I have experience with caretaking during mobility issues for both animals, using help-em-up harnesses and wheelchairs. Additionally, I have awareness and understanding of training needs when the human is afflicted with chronic illness and mobility impairments, such as helping the animal to learn and be mindful of unsteadiness, fall prevention, etc. My current SDiT and I are working on counterbalance, DPT, crowd guarding, behavior interruptions, and some preliminary scent work. Additional Background of Experience; I grew up in the area with a variety of species throughout the years, from cats & dogs to horses, rodents, fish, chickens & guinea fowl to turtles, etc. This experience came with interspecies management, learning to hand-rear animals, helping animals learn core life skills, assess and rehab injury, hospice care, etc. Later, I completed a multidisciplinary degree from WVU with concentrations in Wildlife Management and Conservation Ecology. At WVU, I completed curriculum including a Service Dog Training course where the dog I worked with (Gretel) graduated the following year to become a certified therapy dog at Chestnut Ridge. Additional courses included Animal Behavior, Equine Hoof and Limb, Equine Assisted Therapy, and Exotic Animal Medicine, among others. Since graduating, I have compiled formal experience working with both domestic animals, wildlife and protection of their habitat. I had the privilege to work abroad in Botswana, Africa at game reserves where we were able to rehabilitate animals, provide game drives, supplemental feeding etc., and interned at Mokolodi Nature Reserve in Botswana, Africa, caring for animals in rehabilitation. I currently work full-time, which unfortunately limits my availability to primarily evenings and weekends at this time. Well-behaved, socialized dogs may be able to join during office work days. I am considering transitioning to full-time animal training, should it be feasible, which may allow for additional availability in the future. Additionally, I am navigating chronic illness after long covid through schedule modification and mindful movement during caretaking. Thank you for your understanding schedule limitations during this transition. Please communicate with me your dogs needs i.e.; whether your pet has separation anxiety, medical needs or food allergies, usual routines that make them feel safe, enrichment or husbandry that helps positively stimulate them mentally and emotionally, triggers to be mindful of/avoid, whether they have off leash recall or there are chase drive trigger concerns and they must stay leashed at all times, and anything else you feel is relevant so we may collaborate on their care plan to provide them the best support. I do have a large crate available for dogs that are most comfortable with crate training when it is necessary to leave them at home. Our geriatric cat Fluffy lives in the home with us (please alert me to dogs that have not been socialized with cats), there is a rescue parrot in the household, and I have a ~55 lb rescue and SDIT who is very friendly and loves having someone to play and run around in the yard with. She was a family member to my geriatric dog with mobility concerns before his passing, and she has experience with older dogs and cats.

I have plenty of kitty toys and scratchers for my kitty friends, so they can have fun and keep their nails in tip top shape. About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was a pre teen. I’ve grown up with dogs, taken care of family dogs and I worked at a doggie daycare for over a year! I’m a current full time student at WVU, I do set aside time for homework and studying, but I would love to make extra cash and to hang out with some animals! I have a Hound mix, 4 years old who loves everyone! He is extremely friendly with all dogs and humans. We also have a crate however we do not have to put him in one anymore.
