“I can’t say enough good things about how well Maya was cared for. The night before I dropped her off, I had taken Maya on a hike, and in hindsight, not checking her thoroughly for ticks afterward wasn’t the smartest decision on my part. The morning after her first night with Whitney, she discovered that Maya had a significant number of ticks on her. She immediately texted me to let me know what was going on, especially since she had a two-year-old and other dogs in the house and understandably needed to be careful. I was traveling and tried to arrange for friends to pick Maya up, but unfortunately, I couldn’t make that happen. She could easily have told me I needed to find another solution, but instead, she went completely above and beyond. She went out, got tick shampoo and treatment, gave Maya a thorough bath, dealt with the ticks, and made sure she was comfortable and well cared for. It was a stressful situation that she didn’t create, but she handled it with so much patience, responsibility, and genuine care for Maya. Being away, it meant a lot knowing that someone was willing to step up and take care of her when I couldn’t be there. I’m incredibly grateful and would absolutely trust her with Maya again. About: I cared for my family dog for 12 years until she passed, as well as cared for my family and friends furry animals over the years. I’m currently working full time. During the week, I can be available before 8:00am, afternoons, and after 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Weekend schedule is flexible. I’ll make sure they are safe at all times, and well taken care of. Take them on walks, feed them if needed, and play of course!

About: I've had pets all my life cats, dogs, fish, hamsters, Bunnies, and taken car of horses. I love animals and am not afraid of their messes. During the summer I have plenty of time to take care of pets though during the school year certain times of day I won't be available due to classes. I've learned to come at pets with the caution they need. I'm very friendly and always want to be sweet to pets but I can be tough if the situation calls for it to not let animals walk all over me. I love animals and like taking the time for their needs.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was a child. My family and I grew up with a family dog and then got a puppy in high school that we trained. Even would watch the neighbors pets when they went away. Most recently, I have watched/stayed with a dog when the family traveled. Love all animals, but especially dogs! I work from home and on my own schedule. I have the flexibility to take dogs on walks, bathroom breaks, and even stay with the pet when needed! Working for yourself has great perks when it comes to taking care of our lovely pets. I live in an apartment complex, but have sidewalks for walks. We also have two dog parks. I love staying active, so walks for me are enjoyable! I don’t have any pets of my own currently, so I love being able to love on others pets!

About: I’ve grown up with cats and currently have cats of my own, so I understand their unique personalities, body language, and daily care needs. From playful and social to shy and independent, I’m comfortable adapting to each cat’s individual temperament. In addition to personal experience, I previously worked as a kennel technician, where I cared for animals in a professional setting. This role taught me how to monitor behavior, recognize signs of stress or illness, safely handle animals, and maintain clean, sanitary environments. I’ve also volunteered with rescue cats, which gave me experience working with timid, fearful, and newly transitioned cats. I understand the importance of patience, gentle handling, and creating a calm environment so they feel safe and secure. Your cat’s comfort and well-being will always be my top priority.

About: I’ve been in the general field of caretaking for about 6 to 7 years. I was a full time nanny to a family of 7 children and 3 dogs for a few years before I married, and before that, I had multiple families for whom I watched their little ones, including the family dog/dogs. I also did some exclusive pet sitting apart from my previously mentioned work experience. I managed both kids and pets at once. I’ve gotten to know a variety of dog breeds. Growing up, we always had dogs. We’ve had a labradoodle, a few small mixed breeds, and a bernedoodle. Our bernedoodle, Rocco, I trained myself. He is the gentlest dog I’ve ever met and so smart. I taught fun tricks but also some useful ones like how to ring bells to indicate he needed to potty. I have loved being around dogs and having them in my life. We don’t currently have a dog since my two kids are young, so we can’t afford our own pup right now, although we certainly will get one in the future. That’s why I’m so excited to be able to provide other people’s dogs a warm and welcoming home away from home where they will be loved on and feel at ease. I’m a full time stay at home mom, so I’m almost always home. Apart from grocery shopping, minor errands, church on Sundays, or the rare trip to families, we are home all the time. Dogs that stay with us will have pretty much constant companionship and attention. We will be available for drop offs everyday except most of Sunday. Sunday evenings will be open though. Dogs that love a family environment will thrive here. We are usually up for the day around 7:00 am. My son loves dogs and will happily have a full conversation with them. He has grown up around many dogs because my mom has dogs and is a seasoned rover sitter herself. My husband works in the evenings so dogs will probably stay up and hang out with me as we unwind. We have a fenced in backyard so I can sit on our deck and let the dogs run, play, and potty easily and frequently. We live on a very quiet and friendly Cul-de-sac in the mountains of West Virginia, near Winchester. Dogs that come here will have a peaceful stay and have a lot of fun!

“Taking on a totally unknown dog from a cross-country road trip, IS a risk. We knew our senior dog Ginger would likely be stressed: 1st from the trip, and 2nd to be left with a stranger, in an unfamiliar environment. Linda really seems to love the dogs, she had 1-2 fosters there when we arrived (not sure, as I think I only saw 1). While I'm sure it was hard on both of them, we do sincerely appreciate her taking on our dog for a few hours, so that we could attend the wedding of an old family friend. “If you're ever looking for a place for your fur kids to stay while you go out of town, I highly recommend Laura. I have 2 neurotic cats; 1 has CH that does not like getting confined in crates/small place and the other is spicy/moody. The stay was short with a (somewhat) unusual request, but Laura took them all in stride and went the extra mile to look after Sam and Cloud. Definitely one of my best rover experience and would not hesitate to ask her again in the future.”

About: Hi! Paloma** 🐾 I’ve had dogs for year, three, in fact, over the course of my life. I recently said goodbye to my last pup, and while I’m not ready for a full time dog in my home just yet, I miss it all deeply: the walks, the game of fetch, the pure joy and love only a dog can give. I am not new to dog care, I’ve looked after many dogs over the years, but this is my first time doing it through Rover! I’d love the chance to give your pup some of that same love and attention while you enjoy a vacation, work trip or time away. I treat every dog like my own, patient, attentive, and always up for a good walk or a solid game of fetch. Looking forward to meeting you and your pup! I work 9-6 hybrid, Monday thru Friday with somedays being fully remote. I am home most weekends and spend my free time walking, doing arts and crafts or gardening. Peace of mind is definitely important when it comes to my fur babies, I know that first hand. I can send check in photos with every walk, treat and meal if that is what you wish. I like to also take them to the dog park in my neighborhood if they play well with others. 3 walks a day minimum will be provided unless more are required. I currently working on building a fence to m a backyard and should be completed but end of September!
