“My husband and I had planned and booked a 2 week bucket list trip to Peru and were set to leave in 7 weeks. We had arranged our normal pet sitter that we’ve used for years to come and take care of our (almost) 15 year old cat, Mr. Christmas. It was around that time that Mr. Christmas stopped eating. Mr. Christmas had no real health conditions, no meds…and he was declining fast. After extensive testing, imaging, and seeing a specialist, he was diagnosed with either IBD or cancer and was going to need a lot of follow up. He was on multiple oral medications and he still wasn’t eating great. I couldn’t leave him in the house with someone who can only come see him once a day. He needed more support and our normal pet sitter couldn’t provide that for him. I was fully prepared to cancel the trip, but thought I’d go on Rover to see if anyone could match what we were looking for and if anyone would be willing to do what we were asking. We needed three, hour-long visits daily, forcing food at him, weighing him, and administering multiple daily medications. I found Melanie explaining what I was looking for, and I was really impressed that she was up early at 4:30am to message me. Melanie communicated with me each week leading up to our trip. We initially didn’t have a diagnosis and I needed vet clearance to leave him. Melanie asked many questions, and when we finally were told that he was stable enough to leave, she came over to our house with a list of questions to go over with us. He’s got a bit…a lot…of an attitude. She made sure that she didn’t approach him and waited for him to come to her. She was so thoughtful about every detail of their interaction in front of us. My husband and I both felt that even though she is a stranger to us, there was something calming about her and she was very professional. We knew Mr. Christmas would be okay, but I wasn’t expecting him to thrive the way that he did. Melanie never missed a visit. She never asked for anything from me. She communicated with me daily throughout the two weeks. She braved picking him up to put him on the scale multiple times. Mr. Christmas gained weight with Melanie. He wasn’t gaining weight with me at home, but she is just that good. Pictures of Mr. Christmas started with him sleeping alone, and then he got closer and closer to her on the couch. He even started inviting her to watch him in the litter box (I’m mortified), but he only does this with “his people”. Our dog came to visit at home a few days to see Mr. Christmas (they are besties), and Melanie had no problem cuddling our dog while visiting Mr. Christmas. To describe Melanie in one or two words, I would say she is easygoing and pays great attention to detail. She makes everything seem easy and carefree, and my anxiety really appreciated that on this trip. I got home from 15 days away from him, and he is this thick ball of fluffy happiness. He was WELL taken care of. We could have never gone on this trip without Melanie. She is a true gem and I will be referring anyone and everyone I know to her. About: I’ve grown up with all kinds of animals and love them all! Neighbors have relied on me to take care of their pets whenever needed I’ve done overnight care and daytime care going on walks or hikes I’m able to do whatever is necessary I’ve also bathed lots of dogs. I just moved back to Olympia so my availability is super open. I’m a licensed esthetician so I have been applying to spas in the area and will update my profile when I have found something but in the meantime I’m so excited to meet you and your furry friends. In the other hand, Kai is a medium size old doggy, he gets very excited with new pets but a few minutes later he just ignore them and likes to go back to take long naps on the couch. I have 2 friendly indoor cats, they mostly spend the day sleeping inside the bedroom or playing with the dogs from time to time.

About: I’ve had or taken care of pets my entire life. I will listen to you and what your pet’s needs are and will ensure that they get the best care. Being in the position of needing pet care myself at times, I know how important it is to be confident in your sitter. I currently work from home a majority of the time. I go into the office just 2 days a month. On the days that I go into work I will come home halfway through the day to check on your pets that I’m watching. Weekends are usually spent taking the dogs for daily outings. I can provide the importance of a 3/4 fenced in yard. I have multiple long cables and leads that can be attached to your dog’s harness if they need a little more assurance of not escaping. I am always willing to take your dog out on a leash if there is a threat of them running off. I love taking my pups out back on the acreage to run around. I have a 6-year old Golden Retreiver that is friendly with all other dogs and I recently lost my 14 year-old Basset Hound.

About: I have had pets of my own for over 30 years. I love all animals and think they all have different and special personalities. Currently, I have one dogs (Pembroke-Welsch Corgi) and one cat (a Maine Coon). I am available for weekday walks, evening care, and petsitting on weekends or longer if scheduled ahead of time. I can either come to your pet, take them to a park, or bring them to my home for socializing with my pets. Whatever you like! Since I’m not working outside of school, I’m able to offer care any day of the week with only a few time restrictions that shift depending on class requirements. This flexibility allows me to provide daily walks, drop‑in visits, house sitting, or consistent care for pets who need support while their owners are at work. I enjoy building pet care into my day, and I’m happy to adjust my routine to match each animal’s needs and comfort level. Before caring for any new pet, I always start with a meet‑and‑greet to understand their routine, personality, and any unique needs. I talk with owners about feeding schedules, reactivity, medication requirements, and comfort levels so I can follow their expectations exactly. In a client’s home, I maintain their established routines, keep pets calm and comfortable, and make sure their environment stays clean and safe. I work from home Tuesdays to Fridays. So as long as I have connection to Wi-Fi, I am able to spend my day with your pets. I will respect your home and leave the space as I found it. I do require meet and greets for overnight care bookings. I am happy to help families beyond the radius I have set on rover however I do charge a gas fee of $20 + for locations more than 20 minutes from me. My work schedule is flexible. I work from home 4 days a week (tues-fri). I am able to step away when needed for walks/potty breaks. I will follow your directions and pet needs. I have a reliable vehicle to get to your home. I am happy to collect mail, packages, water plants, taking out trash and any other miscellaneous tasks. I am happy to provide status updates and pictures.

I enjoy dogs of all sizes and ages and have the flexibility to provide and care for any dog. I have a self trained therapy dog, Athena, who loves loves to play and run, as well as cuddle...on occasion. About: Ever since I can remember I have adored animals. I have always been the person who would go over to a friend's house and end up sitting by their pet the whole time! When I became old enough, I started volunteering at my local animal shelter and pet sitting as much as I could. At the shelter, I walked dogs, spent time playing with cats and kittens, and helped clean kennels and cages. I have also worked at a doggy daycare where I was around both large and small dog breeds. I had a senior dog of nearly 16 years who just passed away due to cancer so I have experience caring for senior dogs all the way to their end of life. I also have a rabbit who has had lots of health issues, so I am condfident with syringe feeding and administering medications. I am currently unemployed, though I do have potential offers in the works, so for now I have full availability! I will update my availability as it changes. Due to having a free roam rabbit, I am unable to offer boarding at this time. However, I will provide any sort of care necessary for your pets in your homes! I am very good at following directions if you have a list for me, but I am also good at just knowing what goes into caring for pets, such as watching for potty cues and noticing when they need mental or physical stimulation.

About: I’ve grown up with all kinds of animals and love them all! Neighbors have relied on me to take care of their pets whenever needed I’ve done overnight care and daytime care going on walks or hikes I’m able to do whatever is necessary I’ve also bathed lots of dogs. I just moved back to Olympia so my availability is super open. I’m a licensed esthetician so I have been applying to spas in the area and will update my profile when I have found something but in the meantime I’m so excited to meet you and your furry friends. I grew up in a small town in Winthrop wa so our house was not in the city our pets have always been inside outside but I let them choose where they wanna go as long as it’s safe me and my family have always gotten two of everything just so they have a buddy. I’ll always check before I go somewhere with my dog just to make sure it’s pet friendly.

About: My golden is my boss, and I love it. I have had dogs my whole life and am finally in a position where I can help other people with their pups. Walking, playing…I can’t wait to meet all your puppers and doggos! I currently work part time so have pretty open availability for walks and playing. I could potentially board but it would have to be a good fit with my pup. I take my dog Simon on 3 walks a day as I live in an apartment. Keeps me active and him happy.
