“Totally thrilled with the stay! A perfect home for sensitive dogs - great people and a peaceful environment. Barbara and Darryll are warm, caring people and very responsive to my dogs needs, plus sent regular updates and pictures throughout the stay. My dog is a Belgian Shepherd and can be anxious and at times reactive, but she was relaxed and quiet while staying here. It was ideal because they were home with her most of the time and kept a consistent routine for her. She found her place on a couch by the window so she could watch the squirrels in the yard, just like at home. I felt safe leaving my dogs with such kind people, thank you Barbara and Darryll! I can't recommend them highly enough!”
About: I’ve taken care of animals my whole life. I value the love you give to your babies, so I strive to do the same! I have taken care of a variety of animals and care for them as my own. I am experienced in administer medication and maintain a similar schedule to what you have. Research shows animals have less anxiety staying in their environment when owners are away. I strive to maintain that when you’re gone I work from home part of the time and travel the NEK the other part. I’m a social worker for my regular job but I am flexible with my schedule. I have days off on Sundays and Mondays to help with that. I follow as close to their normal schedule as you do. It helps with their anxiety and transition. If you walk them in the mornings, I will do the same. I prefer to watch animals in their home to make them more comfortable.

About: I've owned and taken care of dogs my entire life. I'm proud to be one of the first people friends and family call when a petsitter is needed. I love walking, and I love dogs. This seems like the perfect opportunity to exercise and get my animal fix! I'm currently working full-time Monday through Friday. I can do evening walks after 5:00 PM (as weather allows) and I can do weekends between 9:00 AM - 6 PM. My current apartment doesn't allow pets, but I can housesit on weekends or in the evenings if the location is somewhat close to my work in Waterbury. I'm a long-time vegetarian, and have always had an extra sensitive heart when it comes to animals. I think that earning an animal's trust is such a privilege and gift, and I honor that. I cannot house pets in my current apartment, but I will follow the guidance and knowledge of the owners in their homes and while on walks.

“Our 6-month old puppy has had 2 stays with Piper so far. She is amazing. Our dog is fearful of strangers and needs to warm up at his own pace (which can be extremely slow at times). Piper just knew how to handle him from the get go and went out of her way to make him feel comfortable. She even discovered things that our little guy likes that we did not know. Prior to his first stay, Piper spent quite a bit of time on the phone to get as much information as possible about Milo. She even made recommendations to make him feel comfortable. While he was anxious at drop off time, he was a happy little guy after his first experience there. At the second stay a week later, I left Piper's house with him licking from her hand and not really caring that I was leaving (a huge accomplishment given his fear level). And when I picked him up, he did not even come to the door - I guess he had forgotten about me and was happily chewing on a bone, all comfy on the rug. Piper is family no. 2 to our dog!”
About: I've been taking care of pets for two decades and will love them like I love my own. I believe the best way to teach a dog is positive reinforcement and will work with whatever routines you have established with your furry family member. I work from home 3 days per week and the days are flexible except Thursday when I have to be at my office in Montpelier. I can go home on my lunch breaks for walks on the days I'm in the office (and you're close to Montpelier) and can work from your home if I'm housesitting and you have internet. We received our first update from Maria shortly after we dropped off our pup and she continued to send frequent updates and texted back very quickly - again putting our worries at ease! I just found out about Rover from a friend who’s been on Rover for some time and she’s told me just how fun and rewarding it is, so I am giving it a go! I have a Yellow Lab of my own “Jader” who loves going for hikes and swimming in my pond. My Lab Jader is very easy going and gets along with most dogs. Of course before entertaining any boarding I would have to see how Jader gets along with your dog. Other than that I am used to walking and hiking in public areas so walking the rec path or going up the Pinnacle would not be an issue.

Whether it’s tossing a ball until your pup is tired, giving extra patience to a shy cat, or just keeping up with daily routines, we will treat your pets just like our own! Taking care of pets is already part of our everyday life. We have a golden retriever and three cats at home, so our days naturally revolve around feeding, walks, play, and snuggles. Because we’re so used to that routine, it feels easy and natural to make time for other pets too. Between the two of us, we’re flexible with mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Depending on the day and time, either one of us will be available, and we’ll clearly communicate that with you when booking so you know who to expect. At the end of the day, we both just enjoy having more chances to spend time with animals. We know how important it is to feel confident that your pets are safe and cared for when you’re not there. When we’re in a client’s home, we’re respectful of your space and careful to follow your routines. We pay attention to details like locked doors, leashes, and food instructions, because we know consistency helps pets feel calm and secure. Most of all, we want you to feel at ease knowing your pets are being treated with the same love and care we give our own.

About: I am a very experienced pet owner in Montpelier - I have owned and loved alpacas, dogs, goats, cats, and backyard birds of all kinds. I have also done foster care of kittens and cats for CVHS. I'm available to provide a fun and loving spot to board your dogs. They will get attention, care, walks, and playtime with my 4 dogs and part time cat. I have a crate if needed, can be one level if mobility is an issue, am willing to administer meds and have no problem with puppies or senior pets. I am home all afternoon and evening and weekends and dogs get a lunchtime walk as well. I am available for boarding all of the time, but only showed weekends because that’s when I am home all day and evening. During the week dogs would still get a morning and lunchtime walk and care all afternoon and evening. I will send updates and photos throughout your dogs time with us - I am also available to pick up and drop off dogs for an additional fee. I am happy to do full day care to allow folks to go skiing or shopping or on full day outings as well.! I work in Montpelier until 3:00 pm so pets get exercise in the afternoons and weekends, and dogs get a lunchtime walk as well. I am around all of the time on weekends and all school breaks and all summer. Our house has many dog beds, crates, toys and treats. We live on many acres and dogs can be on or off leash, depending on needs. I also take dogs to local trails to walk and socialize.
