About: I work full time at Shenandoah University and am joining Rover to formalize my side hustle, which Ive largely managed through word of mouth thus far. I’ve lived with dogs for about 25 of my 30 years of life - mostly hounds (most recently 2 bassets). And I’ve watched dogs of all sizes, the smallest being a chihuahua mix and the largest a Great Dane. Over the last 5 years or so, I’ve dog sat for friends, family, and connections in the Winchester area. The longest engagement was 6 weeks, but I normally do long weekends or week long jobs. All animals are different and I respect you, their owner, to tell me what’s best for your furry friend. I also will be transparent and over communicate with you so we both can be confident your animals have everything they need. I’m comfortable dispensing medication - including to the really picky ones (I can take a pill/pill pocket and sculpt it pretty much exactly the same shape and size as any mainstream kibble brand). I have experience with puppies and with our senior citizens, who both just need a little extra care and attention. I feel comfortable listening to animals and getting to know their personalities, which are all so different yet equally endearing. If they are trying to say something, though, I feel pretty confident I will notice it - especially after we’ve spent a few hours together. And, if they’re trying to say something and I don’t understand? I’ll reach out just to make sure. I just really, really love animals. I most often watch dogs but have also cared for cats, lizards, bunnies, chickens, and horses (although horses were largely just feeding and brushing/attention). I also have a rescue cat of my own, Luna, who has made me certain I’m equally a dog person AND a cat person. I work 9-5 M-F, and occasionally am tied up on weekends with happenings on campus. I can take an hour lunch (and flex a bit beyond if necessary) to visit the animals for attention and potty breaks. I am single, sober, and genuinely grateful for the work and the company. Animals have so much love to give, and i try to reciprocate that love indiscriminately. We knew our senior dog Ginger would likely be stressed: 1st from the trip, and 2nd to be left with a stranger, in an unfamiliar environment. Linda really seems to love the dogs, she had 1-2 fosters there when we arrived (not sure, as I think I only saw 1). While I'm sure it was hard on both of them, we do sincerely appreciate her taking on our dog for a few hours, so that we could attend the wedding of an old family friend. About: I've always had a love for animals and love working with them! I've grown up with dogs and love to be around them. My mom used to breed labs and I would help her socialize and take care of the puppies to prepare them for their new homes! About: Hello all! I’d love to help you with your pet care needs. I have had pets most of my life, and am the current owner of a 3 year old chihuahua mix, and an 12 year old chocolate point siamese. I started using Rover over the summer a few years ago and have had so many amazing clients! It has also been a great experience when it comes to socializing my young pup. Before using Rover, I took care of family members pets and would find my own boarding, dog walking and drop in clients. I currently do pet sitting in addition to my full time job. I work for a high school so I get plenty of dates off including winter, spring and summer breaks. During these times I’d be home full time. Otherwise, Monday-Friday I care for the dogs when I wake up, go to work, come home and continue their care. That’s pretty much all I do. I have a fenced yard that gives my boarders (as well as my pup) plenty of room to run and play! Boarders stay on the main level of my house and are allowed on furniture, unless discouraged by owners. You are more than welcome to bring anything you think would make your pet more comfortable during their stay (ex. Beds, crates, favor toys or treats). If you crate your dog/s at night or while no one is home, I will do the same. I work full time but can balance your pets needs with my schedule. They will have a morning routine of going outside to potty and eating before I head to work. I often leave a tv on for them and I also have cameras to keep an eye on them while away. When I return home, they will have free roam from being inside to going out to the fenced yard to play and explore whenever they would like. I’ll feed again in the evenings (based on your feeding instruction of course) and eventually tuck them in for bed. :) For boarding, your pet will have access to my fenced in backyard where they can play and explore. When I’m away from the house, I can crate your pet upon your request. I leave it up to the owner! Your pet will be boarded on my main level. I NEVER leave pets outside and unattended while away from the house.

About: I have been around dogs majority of my life from puppy to senior. I have two dogs medium to larger dogs at home and have watched smaller dogs overtime. I am currently a college student athlete with free time during the day and night. I am very flexible with my schedule and pretty open on the weekends. I tend to be home from classes around 2-3:30pm. At home, my dogs are on shock collars because we have an open backyard that backs up to the woods. But I have also took care of several dogs that had fenced in backyards where they can freely roam.

About: Hello! I'm Amber and I love and cherish all types of creatures. I have consistently had animals in my care since a young age and will always have animals in my life. I take a personalized approach meeting your pets needs as I know each animal is unique and requires special attention. I'm happy to be available for your pets whenever necessary. Whether it's a last minute trip or a well planned in advanced event I can be there to ensure your pet has uninterrupted care and attention. I understand life can be ruff (pun a little bit intended lol) and I'm happy to lighten that burden for your precious pets. I'm all about efficiency and ensuring that your pets routines go uninterrupted despite your absence. My goal is to ease the burden and ensure you can focus on your needs. Whether this is for a vacation, a walk so you can work, or anything in between. I also value communication and transparency to ensure you know everything that goes on in your absence.
About: I grew up taking care of all kinds of animals including chickens, goats, cows, pigs, and of course cats and dogs. I’ve independently cared for animals since I can remember! I am a student at Virginia Tech with a pretty flexible schedule. I have time in between my classes to be able to let your animals outside or just spend time with them! Because I live in an apartment, I unfortunately cannot house animals with me in my home. However, I am happy to take them on walks and hang out with them at their home.
“Christopher and Leslie are professional, they're skilled at handling dogs, and my dogs love them. Even our two very shy dogs warmed up to them quickly. (And my cats, who were not part of the booking, also were happy to say hi to them. They're obviously cat people, too!) They were happy to accommodate some last-minute changes to the bookings, which I appreciated very much. I will definitely book them again when I need help.”
About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was a child. My family and I grew up with a family dog and then got a puppy in high school that we trained. Even would watch the neighbors pets when they went away. Most recently, I have watched/stayed with a dog when the family traveled. Love all animals, but especially dogs! I work from home and on my own schedule. I have the flexibility to take dogs on walks, bathroom breaks, and even stay with the pet when needed! Working for yourself has great perks when it comes to taking care of our lovely pets. I live in an apartment complex, but have sidewalks for walks. We also have two dog parks. I love staying active, so walks for me are enjoyable! I don’t have any pets of my own currently, so I love being able to love on others pets!
About: Everyone calls me when they need a reliable and dedicated pair of hands to watch over their children. Yes, I treat every dog like a furry child. I've helped raise dogs from 6 weeks to 16 years old. The young and the old need a little more attention and I'm happy to help. Those terrible 2's just need extra attention, and I'm happy to provide that too! I love all animals and will probably treat the kids like royalty. I prefer the company of dogs than my friends, they could vouch for that! I'm both loving and also stern because I've raised both labs and pitties. They require different types of parenting techniques, and I am equipped to handle anything. I work full time, Monday through Friday, 9 to 5. I'm happy to use my work breaks to check on animals for those who need the extra attention. My availability will be based around my work and my 2 kiddos at home. I can adjust weekly routines to incorporate pickup/drop offs, stop in visits, after work walks, or overnight stays. I treat dogs like they are our kids. I talk to them, I cuddle with them, and I use positive reinforcement to train good habits. I've helped raise a dozen dogs and each dog likes to show you how they like to be treated. I learned this lesson the hard way when I was raising dogs and had to learn different techniques to train each of them individually. Labs learn and function much different than bulldogs and pitbulls. I treat each dog the same regardless of size or attitude. Though I may give them some attitude when mouth off, like I do with my pitty at home (lol). I'm a safety first kind of person when it comes to our kids. So I tend to lean on the side of caution and extra equipment when interacting with most dogs. I always keep extra dogs supplies in my truck at all times as I have been known to that guy who stops traffic to try to rescue a dog. I've done this probably 6 or 7 times.
About: I have owned and trained dogs most of my life, grew up on a farm with all types of pets and find it second nature to treat them like family. I currently work from home and have a very flexible schedule. I can house sit, drop in or stay with your pet as long as you need someone. My dog has a fenced in yard and is at day care for socialization M-F so I can have my full attention on your dog. I currently work from home part time so I have plenty of time for your pet! I am awake early and have a flexible schedule to fit yours. I make sure you and your pet are comfortable with me and follow instruction when caring for your pet. You know your pet best and I want them to be happy and content with me.

“Alexsys provided us with the best dog care on Rover! We initially had a last minute notice from the previous sitter who had to cancel on us. Alexsys was quick to reply and get us booked. My dog Chase had an amazing time! Alexsys always provided us with pics and updates everyday day, something previous dog sitters didn’t provide unless I asked. She was very friendly and I cold tell my dog liked her. When we can to pick up my dog, we had forgotten his dog bowls. Alexsys was kind enough to drive 30mins to our house and deliver them.
