About: I grew up in a multi-pet household, but the cats were my companions and true loves. In my own home, I have cats and also one chinchilla that were both rescued from difficult situations. I have a deep respect for and fascination with cats: their psychology and how they communicate. I have even been able to distinguish certain phrases that my cats use to communicate specific things! It’s not easy, but I did learn what my beloved companion Charlie called me, my name (it sounded a lot like my kids calling ‘Mom’ from across the house). My current companion, Penny has a phrase she uses to invite me to come sit or interact with her. So far, that’s all that I’ve understood, but it’s a distinctive phrase and you cannot unhear it. :) More general things about me: I am a kind, mature, and responsible person -- a homeowner myself -- and would be happy to take extra care with simple tasks (like collecting mail and watering plants) while I’m checking on your animals. For housesitting, these extra tasks would be a given. My schedule is relatively flexible as I work from home and am finishing a graduate program at UVA. “Amy is a delightful host! Our Ziggy loved her time with Amy--she has great outdoor spaces for play, is attentive, updates frequently, and is adept at managing multiple dogs at once. She knows what dogs need and makes sure they get that. Whenever we're back in the area, we will definitely ask Amy to take care of Ziggy again!”
