Alyce hosted us for a meet and greet beforehand to make sure that Maisie and her dog would get along, which really put our minds at ease. Over the course of her stay, we received several photos and videos of Maisie playing with the other dogs and with Alyce’s sons, and you could just tell she was having a fantastic time. She really liked the variety toys that Alyce keeps for the dogs and roaming the nice, fenced backyard! Corey was able to pick up my pups and bring them home which was a huge help, as I am not very familiar with the DC Metro area in addition to the horrific traffic. They sent me photos during the day to let me know how my dogs were doing, which was great as I am a helicopter pet parent. What began as a last minute doggy day care issue became a blessing as I will always utilize Corey and Nyla in the future when visiting my brother in Alexandria. I should also mention that I have a bossy female toy poodle Lu and a mini Aussie puppy Finn. They are both well trained but get super excited being around new people and Finn needs mental and physical stimulation throughout the day. They both came home to me happy and sleepy, I know that Finn would not be sleepy if he did not get the stimulation that he needs especially at this stage of his life. Thank you, Corey and Nyla! About: My entire family has dogs and I’ve always loved them. I had a dog in high school, Oreo; she was a pitbull mix and she was my first dog. I learned most of my training experience from Oreo and taking her to training sessions. One of my previous jobs was at a dog grooming establishment, I was there for a year and two months as the receptionist. During my time at the dog grooming place I formed relationships not only with our human customers but also the furbabies. I’ve met all kinds of dog breeds through my old job and in passing throughout the streets of DC. My old coworker called me the dog whisperer. When customers came in and said their dog might not take to me I always managed to get them to warm up to me. I can’t tell you how many times I heard “they’ve never done that with anyone before”, not only from owners but my coworkers too. I’ve calmed the most rowdy dogs like it was nothing because I love dogs with my entire heart. I have a huge soft spot for big dogs, especially pitbulls and german shepherds. I’ve worked with many breeds, sizes, ages and temperaments. There’s not a dog I’ve encountered who I haven’t been able to work my magic on, I hope to continue doing so with Rover. I’m currently working full time but I live extremely close to my job, like 5 minutes away, so I’m able to check on the dogs throughout the day. I’ll make sure to use a dog cam to make sure they’re okay as well. On my days off I’ll be home to watch them all day. I live in an apartment with surrounding grass areas for the dog to relieve themselves. I used to dog sit for a previous roommate of mine while in an apartment, so I’m familiar with timing bathroom breaks according to the time it takes to get outside. The dogs are free to roam my living space, I’ll make sure to close off the bedrooms unless they are with me. There will be a designated area for their things (crate, bed, toys, etc). I’m pretty flexible, I want to maintain the dog’s routine as much as possible especially their training.
About: I’ve had furry family members all my life. Finally got my own and live having a pup to train, pamper and love on. Let me share that experience with you and your pup as well☺️ I work from home, which makes pup care easier. My pup goes on a 30-60min walk or fetch in the fenced s hook fields near me around 7.30-8, eats around 10.30am with a quick walk outside soon after. She naps and is free to play. Last walk and dinner is around 6.30-7.30. Jade sleeps in her crate beside my bed. I’m able to give as much attention to her as needed because my schedule is flexible. I am very tidy and keep hazards away from the pups. I use dog-safe cleaning products. I also have a nest doorbell camera to monitor those coming and going. Plants are out of reach. About: I’ve grown up surrounded by animals my entire life — from our childhood Irish Setter, Sadie, to our five cats and three birds. Beyond family pets, I’ve also cared for my own animals, including my boss’s elderly Chihuahua, Tu, who is now a sweet 15‑year‑old “little old lady” that I look after entirely, as well as my pony, Sea Star. I bottle‑fed Sea Star as a child, trained him to ride, and taught him to pull a cart throughout high school. I have hands-on experience that I believe typical pet-sitters do not hold. Some examples include dog-sitting for our neighbors for two summers in middle school, managing their eight rescue dogs with no issues and also volunteering to feed and care for a friend’s 13 horses once a week, morning and night, throughout an entire winter. I also just completed a 2 month house sitting job for a family this summer. I maintained their home, their many, many plants and also took detailed care of their 3 adorable cats. Over the years, I’ve taken responsibility for all of our family pets as well when parents or siblings have gone away on trips (canaries, parakeets, 2 dogs and 5 cats.) I’m comfortable with animals of every temperament, size, and background, and many people say I have a natural ability to get animals to warm up to me quickly even if they struggle with fear and/or anxiety. I treat every animal as a valuable, sentient creature deserving of respect, patience, and kindness. My priority is always to make them feel safe, loved, and well cared for. Currently I'm in part time online school and only working flexible jobs such as pet-sitting, house sitting, babysitting etc. With this work life, my availability is flexible and I am able to prioritize your pets schedule. I do have resposibilities at my church on Sundays and Tuesdays for part of the day and am also driving two high-school girls to and from school every other week consistently. These are the only set in stone commitments I have currently. I do not guarantee full 24/7 care however I will do my best to be as available as I can be! I worked for a few years as a scientist prior to starting medical school last year, so attention to detail is a skill I’ve learned to hone. I’m currently on break from school, so I have a fairly free schedule at the moment.
