“It was love at first sight for Lex when I took him to meet Shelly and her Pups. the dogs bonded almost immediately. I received so many pictures and videos of Lex while he was staying with her that it felt like i was there with him. fast forward 4 days as I picked him up, i could tell he was sad to leave his new friends but was thoroughly exhausted and has been trying to rest up for the past 24 hours. needless to say, next time we need a sitter we'll be using Shelly again as she spoiled him more than we do at home. long walks, frequent trips to the dog park, sight seeing....the works.”

About: To comfort any animal brings comfort to myself. I have experience with all kinds of pets and love all animals but cats are what you’d find in my home. It’s a common misconception that cats don’t require much attention but as a domesticated animal they thrive on human companionship while also having many natural instincts to accommodate. Some require more attention than others depending on their personality. One of the most important instincts to satisfy is the need to hunt/play. There are some automatic or interactive toys that work well but for the most part the best toy is something on the end of a string attached to a wand/rod and their human’s participation. This way you can mimic the evasive movements of an actual prey for your cat to hunt. This provides exercise and stimulation and I would be happy to play with your cat(s) I’m very good at befriending anxious or less trusting cats and identifying the things that exacerbate their anxiety and finding solutions to comfort them. I also have experience administering medications. With a cat the easiest route of administration is a liquid solution mixed in with some wet food or treat or squirted into the back side of the mouth with an oral syringe. Giving a cat a pill can be more difficult but it can be done. I would wrap them in a towel or blanket, lubricate pill so it doesn’t stick to fingers or tongue, tilt head back and insert pill into back of the mouth, return head to level position and rub their throat and/or slightly blow on the nose to stimulate swallowing reflexes, then give them a treat and love them! When possible I scoop our 3 cats’ boxes after every use. I’m happy to clean and scoop your cat’s box(es) with the same vigilance. A clean litter box is one factor in ensuring a healthy and happy cat!

Two of my dogs are in their senior years and can be a bit cranky at times but they are used to new pets coming into the home as we have had lots of rescues and fosters throughout their lives. I currently do not have a fenced yard, but live in a lovely rural area and can offer outdoor time on leash. You are welcome to bring bedding and toys to help your pet feel at home 💞 but it is not required. I would recommend bringing a crate if your pet is accustomed to using one, as it can often serve as a comfy safe place. Please do provide food from home 🙂
About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind since I was a child. I cared for my own dog for seven years, which included intensive senior care. Several friends have asked me to watch their dogs for them, which I’m always happy to do! I’m currently working part-time, so I have plenty of time to spend time with your pet!
