About: Although we are new to the area, we are definitely not new to caring for dogs. We recently purchased the well-known dog kennel in Smithsburg and are in the process of restoring it. Parts of the kennel are already fully functional, and we’re excited to begin welcoming dogs while we continue improving the property. It’s a place many people in the community already know, and we feel lucky to be able to carry on its history. Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with them and honestly can’t remember a time when I didn’t love being around them. That same love has followed me into adulthood. Over the years I’ve naturally become the neighborhood go-to pet sitter. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me with their pets for years, and I always care for them the same way I care for my own dogs — with patience, attention, and lots of affection. One of the things I’m most proud of is the therapy work I did with my dog. I trained and certified her as a therapy dog, and for 10 years we volunteered together in hospitals and nursing homes. That experience actually inspired my career path, and I went on to become a certified occupational therapist. My sweet therapy dog has since passed away after a long and wonderful life. She was incredibly special to me. I’m now starting that journey again with my new puppy, Merango, and hope to continue therapy work in the future. Right now I’m taking some time away from my occupational therapy work to focus on renovating and restarting the kennel. It’s something I’ve always dreamed about doing, and I’m excited to bring new life to a place that so many people in the community already know. I also have experience caring for senior dogs and dogs with medical needs, including giving medications like insulin injections. Our property has large outdoor fenced runs that give dogs plenty of space to move around and enjoy the fresh air in a quiet farm setting. injections. We are early risers in our home and typically start the day around 7 AM with potty breaks and breakfast. Mornings are usually spent outside enjoying the property — going on walks around our 20-acre farm or spending time in the fenced runs while I do morning chores. Around lunchtime everyone, animals included, usually settles in for a quiet rest period. I check that everyone has fresh water and food if needed before nap time. In the mid-afternoon we head back outside for more activity. Depending on the dog, this may include running in the fenced fields, exploring the property on a guided walk, or simply relaxing in the fresh air. Dinner is around 6 PM, followed by a calm evening inside. We finish the day with a final potty break and check-in before bedtime around 9 PM. My goal is to give dogs a peaceful farm stay with plenty of space to move, fresh air, and a consistent routine so they feel comfortable and relaxed while they’re away from home I understand how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else’s care. When I first started using Rover for my own dogs, I remember feeling nervous too. I always appreciated sitters who kept me updated, so I make a point to do the same. I’m happy to send photos and updates so you can see how your dog is doing and feel confident they’re happy and well cared for. On our property, dogs have access to spacious individual indoor/outdoor kennel runs where they can relax comfortably. About: Hello, I’m Kirsten. I have been actively dog sitting for the last 5 years in and around thurmont and the surrounding areas. (Mount airy, woodbine, Frederick, smithsburg, Hagerstown. etc) I do both overnights in your home and boarding opportunities in our home. I can work from home most days which allows a very flexible schedule. I am willing to accommodate for what ever needs are present and will make sure your pet is well taken care of. I do have a fenced in yard, no restrictions at my home as far as where the dog can go, they can sleep in my bed if they would like.
About: I’ve been a life time animal lover! I grew up with two dogs, a German Shepherd and a Westie. I currently live on a 300 acre farm with 9 cats. We have a guest house where I will board your pet, so no need to worry about any interaction with my current pets. I can offer a relaxing atmosphere and all day care on weekends along with morning and afternoon care on week days. I can also board or do drop-in visits for fish, hamsters, or horses. Your dog will love a relaxing mountain retreat! Your cat can enjoy a quiet vacation! I work full time as a teacher. I can board your pet all weekends or in the afternoons. I can take crate trained dogs anytime during the week but could only provide potty breaks every 6-8 hours. I am available for dog walks or drop-in visits any day in the afternoon or evening in the Chambersburg, Gettysburg, and Hagerstown areas. Your pet would live only with me in a private guest house. We have 300 acres to go for walks or chase balls! My husband and 9 cats live in the main house. Our cats don’t mind other animals but I can keep your pet away from the cats if you prefer. As a 15 year high school teacher, I am very trustworthy, authentic, and kind. I admit to being a bit of a “crazy animal person” as I try to pet every animal I see! I can be trusted with your animal for an extended time or just an afternoon walk! I can also board hamsters or horses.

About: I have experience, taking care of cats, dogs, and chickens. I am willing to take care of smaller animals, such as hamsters, birds or guinea pigs as well. During the summer, I am home most days of the week. I am a full time teacher so I am off during the summer. Therefore I am very reliable and flexible with times. I have a fenced in yard that’s big enough for dogs to get some exercise. I have two kids who enjoy seeing and meeting new animals.
