They had a HUGE yard to play in, a number of other great dogs to romp around with, two of which are Charlie’s, the rest were visitors as well. About: I have grown up with pets of all kinds my whole life. I have owned dogs, cats, small reptiles, rabbits, fish. I have over 25 years of Petcare/animal experience. I have professionally cared for animals for 15 years. I have worked in Petcare in a pet store caring for the in-store animals: fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, pockets pets, insects. About: Although we are new to the area, we are definitely not new to caring for dogs. We recently purchased the well-known dog kennel in Smithsburg and are in the process of restoring it. Parts of the kennel are already fully functional, and we’re excited to begin welcoming dogs while we continue improving the property. It’s a place many people in the community already know, and we feel lucky to be able to carry on its history. Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with them and honestly can’t remember a time when I didn’t love being around them. That same love has followed me into adulthood. Over the years I’ve naturally become the neighborhood go-to pet sitter. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me with their pets for years, and I always care for them the same way I care for my own dogs — with patience, attention, and lots of affection. One of the things I’m most proud of is the therapy work I did with my dog. I trained and certified her as a therapy dog, and for 10 years we volunteered together in hospitals and nursing homes. That experience actually inspired my career path, and I went on to become a certified occupational therapist. My sweet therapy dog has since passed away after a long and wonderful life. She was incredibly special to me. I’m now starting that journey again with my new puppy, Merango, and hope to continue therapy work in the future. Right now I’m taking some time away from my occupational therapy work to focus on renovating and restarting the kennel. It’s something I’ve always dreamed about doing, and I’m excited to bring new life to a place that so many people in the community already know. Around lunchtime everyone, animals included, usually settles in for a quiet rest period. I check that everyone has fresh water and food if needed before nap time. In the mid-afternoon we head back outside for more activity. Depending on the dog, this may include running in the fenced fields, exploring the property on a guided walk, or simply relaxing in the fresh air. Dinner is around 6 PM, followed by a calm evening inside. We finish the day with a final potty break and check-in before bedtime around 9 PM. My goal is to give dogs a peaceful farm stay with plenty of space to move, fresh air, and a consistent routine so they feel comfortable and relaxed while they’re away from home I understand how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else’s care. When I first started using Rover for my own dogs, I remember feeling nervous too. I always appreciated sitters who kept me updated, so I make a point to do the same. About: Hi! My name is April. After growing up around dogs, my husband and I decided to get our first dog-a Hurricane Katrina rescue-as soon as we got married! I grew up in a home with pets throughout my childhood—including 4 dogs (labs and pointers), 6 cats, and 10 bunnies—so caring for animals has always been a part of my life. I’m dependable, patient, and genuinely love making animals feel safe, happy, and cared for. I recently started a full-time role, but the great news is I only work three days a week! That means I still have plenty of availability during weekdays and weekends for drop-ins, walks, and pet sitting. About: I grew up caring, training and assisting in raising German Shepherds since I was 5 yrs old. I trained my first German Shepherd at age 11 and placed second in obedience and showmanship competition. Have also grown up with having a cat. Been in charge of taking care of neighbors dogs, cats, horses and cows since I was 12. Throughout the years I have taken care of dogs from birth to elderly. I also have one year of experience working at a vet clinic and have been a certified barn manager (I didn't pay to renew my certification). Thus, I am familiar with various care and prevention strategies for all kinds of animals. I am currently an occupational therapist; thus, I am mainly available on the weekends with a semi-flexible schedule. In taking dogs on walks I am careful to avoid walking near other dogs and observe surroundings that may cause an issue. (Mount airy, woodbine, Frederick, smithsburg, Hagerstown. etc) I do both overnights in your home and boarding opportunities in our home. About: I grew up in a dog-loving home—there was never a time we didn’t have a furry friend in the family. Since my very first pet, I’ve enjoyed caring for animals.
