She introduced Mavis to her apartment, and her pet is around the same age, Sushi, and gave us some great tips on helping Mavis settle in. The Blink camera in the room where Mavis stayed was a nice touch, allowing Crystal to check in on her whenever she was out, which was reassuring. Plus, she ensured Mavis got plenty of playtime – she understood Mavis's playful side. I was impressed by how Crystal helped Mavis and Sushi become friends. They hit it off after a little supervised playtime, which made me feel even better about leaving Mavis with her. What genuinely set Crystal apart was her communication. “As others here are saying, Ruth was *really* great--my somewhat shy, standoffish cat quickly and visibly warmed to her (she had a very gentle, low-key way of introducing herself to him). It was a relief to have her checking in on him. As to logistics: she was extremely quick and precise in answering messages, and very patient and flexible with the multiple times I had to tweak my booking request (because of unforeseen travel changes on my end). The kitchen was cleaner than when I left, and Ruth also went out of the way to bring trash and recycling containers off the street, something I hadn't asked her to do but appreciate. As to keeping this skeptical little cat company: she was very perceptive; I would genuinely trust her if there were an emergency of basically any kind. She put him at ease and got him to eat (something he sometimes is reluctant to do when stressed); she must have been a very reassuring presence. I also appreciate her detailed messages and several photos in which he's rolling on his back looking fairly pleased by things. When I got back this morning he seemed in much better spirits than he normally does after I have to travel. Thank you Ruth!”

Like a good kindergarten teacher, Rillan makes sure each dog plays nicely, separates those that need a time out and also gives individual attention. About: My mom is a zoologist, so I was raised learning how to treat all animals with the best care. I have experience with puppies, senior dogs, and dogs with special food conditions. I know that our pets our just as much part of the family as humans, and I promise to provide them with the best and most loving care as if they were my own. I am currently a full-time college student with an internship that typically keeps me busy in the afternoons. However, my schedule is flexible with mornings and evenings typically being more open. From experience with my own pets, I find that dogs and cats miss their owners just as much as their owners miss them when they’re away, if not more. That being said, after completing any responsibilities the family has asked of me, I always take some extra time to hang out with the pets to make sure they feel loved while missing their family. I also find that the families appreciate picture and text updates of how their pets are doing while they’re gone. I always make sure to do that so the owners can trust their pets are in good hands.

About: I’ve always been a dog family, growing up with always 2 dogs or more in my family households. When I was 20, I adopted my soul dog Dusty, who was extremely dog reactive. He showed me a lot of how to deal with reactive dogs, especially on walks and dealing with strangers who may not get that their dog may be friendly, but yours may need that extra space to be comfortable. I now also own two cats, adopted from the local shelter Paws and they have become my life. They are very clingy but also shy towards strangers. So I also very understand if you own some shy cats, I would love them just the same! I currently live all year in State College, work full time but still have plenty of time for my cats and still have more time for others. Just let me know 24 hours ahead or more and it can happen! I am fully comfortable crating all kinds of dogs, walking any breed, or dealing with any shy temperamental cat. About: I've loved animals of all kinds ever since I can remember and have always had pets while growing up and since, including dogs, cats, parakeets, turtles, rabbits and fish. I can't imagine not having animals as part of my family. We currently have a dog and six cats. My dog, who is part Jack Russel Terrier, was a puppy when we adopted him, so it was necessary to house-train him, which I was able to accomplish in just a couple of weeks. I don't know if it was my technique or just that he was very smart! I recently retired from full-time work and can devote lots of time to my dog & cats. I try to stick to a routine, though, similar to the one I had when I had a job: scooping the litter boxes in the morning & evening and feeding twice a day. My dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes so he requires an insulin injection after each meal, which needs to be very consistently timed. My dog has never been the type to want to run off on his own. We live in the country far back from the road but, because he won't even go outside unless I go with him, a fence or restraint isn't needed. However, I have lived in cities where having dogs on a leash was necessary so I have experience with that - having walked 3 dogs at once at times in the past. I would never let someone else's dog outside without a leash, tie-out, or fenced in yard. My cats stay indoors to keep them, as well as, the birds and other wildlife safe but, if a client's cat is allowed outdoors, I will do as they wish.

About: Ever since we adopted my dog in 2019, I have been obsessed with caring for animals. I have taken my dog on at least 100 walks in his lifetime so far, and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon! Additionally, I have been requested by multiple neighbors and friends to dog sit and cat sit for them. I have been dog sitting and catsitting for the same people for about 4 years now, so I would say I have a lot of experience!! I currently work part time at Kohls, so my schedule is a little all over the place. However, I am willing to set a strict availability in order to balance both jobs. Ideally, I can work during the week, but if weekends are needed, I can make some changes. I am very much a rule follower when it comes to watching pets in a clients home. I try to stay by the animals as much as possible to make sure they aren’t getting up to anything, while also staying in the common areas to respect my clients home. I love playing with the animals and giving tons of pets, so don’t worry about your pets being bored!

About: I have been around animals all my life, for as long as I can remember my family has always had at least 2 dogs. I am most familiar with high energy breeds like German shorthaired pointers or border collies, but have dog-sat for neighbors and friends with calmer breeds as well. I also have owned cats for most of my life, and am very comfortable with them. I also can care for larger animals such as horses, cows, or pigs, all of which I have at home as well and am comfortable around. In my pet sitting adventures I have met many new friends, including snakes, lizards and even birds of prey! I have been pet-sitting on my own for about 4 years now, ever since I got my driver's license. I currently work full-time but have a flexible schedule that allows me to cater my workday to the needs of your pets!
