It was his first time boarding anywhere and he was a little nervous but Nadine is a dog whisperer and gave him what he needed to settle in. She also introduced him to her cat; a creature he had little knowledge of, but had admired from afar. Rosco wanted to chase her a little bit but Nadine was able to talk him out of it. She took lots of pictures for us. Good ones! Rosco is usually either asleep or in motion, so he’s not the best photographic model. We’re homebodies, but if we go somewhere again, Rosco will stay with Nadine.”

About: I have grown up with pets and even found my first job working at an animal boarding house. You could say I learned to become a professional dog walker at a young age. I have two high anxiety dogs and have been working on their social skills and coping methods to help their anxiety. I work full-time from home but take frequent breaks to let the dogs go out and play and take multiple walks a day to give them exercise. Weekends are mostly free to cuddle and to play with the fur babies. When house sitting or boarding pets I stay close so they be taken care of as needed. I own my businesses and work from home! Completely flexible schedule with plenty of time for walks and play. We’d love to watch your pet. We have a comfortable, pet-friendly home in a very safe neighborhood, just two blocks from a park with plenty of opportunities for walks and outdoor time. Our yard is unfenced, so dogs will always be supervised and leashed outside. “Finding the right fit for taking care of my two older chihuahuas was very stressful, until I came across Julie and Barry. Firstly, my huge requirement was that they had no dogs of their own and secondly, that they would only have one client at a time. That is not super easy to find. And not only do they fulfill both of those requirements, but it is two people instead of one, so it's an incredible amount of care and attention that is given to any animal that they might care for. One of my pups has some pretty major anxiety and Julie knew just what to do with her. She turns on her heating pad and cuddles up on the couch with her, and I can tell that they are very loved while there. And though I know my pups don't like being away from me, they very obviously feel safe and comfortable with both Julie and Barry. They also have a wonderful place for the dogs to be when outside. Our pups are going to board with them soon and we feel 100% comfortable with it, and excited that we have found Julie and Barry. Besides taking great care of the pups, they are lovely people and we have enjoyed getting to know them.”

About: Born and raised in Northern VA. I have been, and continue to be, an animal lover for my entire life. I have been in veterinary medicine for almost 20 years. I went to the University of Rhode Island to get my B.S. is Animal Science with a focus in Veterinary Medicine. About: Throughout my life I’ve had 2 dogs, 7 cats, and I currently live with 3 cats. I don’t have a preference between cats and dogs, I love them equally! I was nervous leaving my puppy for the first time (I spent a long time making a decision and even visited other homes), but I felt comfortable leaving him there and I think he had lots of one on one time and was not alone very much. She seemed to really enjoy her time with my puppy (who is a bit of a handful despite his size). She checked in with photos every day. They went for lots of walks and play time and he seemed very well cared for overall. She even dropped him off for me as I was getting in on a late flight.
