During their stay, her dog had a health emergency in which she needed to take her to the emergency vet. The timing of the emergency was right as we were coming into town to pick up our dogs, but even so, without mentioning it, she made arrangements to allow for this to still occur. Even in unusual circumstances, she was able to problem solve and accommodate her customer and it saved us 1 hour of driving by still allowing us to pick up our dogs during the previously agreed upon time. I understand the care required for a wide variety of needs and can do my best to provide reinforcement on current training, but I am not going to be attuned right off the jump to the nuances noticed by your trainer or you... I can reinforce sit, lay down, paw, stay, heel, rollover, or anything else. I can administer medicine. I am not formally trained in pet CPR, but I am trained in human CPR and have looked at videos for pet CPR. When I was younger I worked as a lifeguard, and have a remarkable natural ability to stay calm and act fast in crisis situations. This comes in handy, for example: when protecting my maltipoo from other dogs, managing territorial behavior, or keeping one dog out of another dog’s bowl. My schedule is flexible and I have a car. I have a small business and partial responsibility of my dog, so I do need to be able to run errands, go to meetings, or check in at home to keep that part of my life running. For extended care, and distance further than 5 miles, I prefer be given the option to stay over at clients for the sake of gas costs, time, and energy. First meeting and approach are important to setting a precedent, I first see if the pet will approach me. I like to offer my hand palm down for them to smell. Sometimes it takes a few times smelling the hand before they feel comfortable letting me pet them. In my opinion it’s important not to mess up first impressions with the pet. Spending time together builds familiarity bonds, being attentive builds trust. It’s important to build rapport.

I stick to routes I know well, avoid off-leash areas unless specifically asked, and keep a close eye on other dogs, traffic, and anything that could startle or spook your dog. I always carry water on hot days and adjust the pace or length of the walk based on weather and how your dog is doing that day. Before I leave, I make sure your home is exactly as I found it — doors locked, lights as they were, nothing out of place. If anything ever comes up during a walk, you'll hear from me right away, not after the fact.
About: I am active and love taking care of pets. I am adaptable and can work in any setting while still being very organized and on task. I am currently a college athlete at Xavier University and manage my course load along with my athletic commitments. While I do have a lot going on I have lots of downtime away from sports and school where I would love to spend it helping people out. I have 2 dogs, ages 5 and 7, that live in my home. I live in an area with easily accessible walking paths and parks while also have a yard for dogs to play in.

I'm also open to overnight housesitting with advance notice. I've worked with dogs and cats of all temperaments - high energy, reactive, senior, shy, and everything in between. I'm comfortable administering oral medication, working with senior pets, and supporting training goals you're actively building with your pet. Your pet's routines, preferences, and needs will be followed. Cats are a specialty. I understand that most cats need a visitor who respects their space and handles the essentials. If they're social, we'll have playtime, chin scratches, or just exist in the same room the way some cats prefer. I ask detailed questions before every booking because the best care starts with knowing your pet: their triggers, their favorite toys, how they signal discomfort, and what commands they respond to with someone new. I generally have a flexible schedule around my other work. The only times I am not available now is T/Th 12:30-5:30pm. I am not available for constant care at this time. I am happy to do playtime in the yard, cuddle on the couch, depending on what your pet is feeling for the days we meet.
