I’ve just graduated UVM with an Animal Science degree, where I’ve taken helpful classes such as Intro To Exotic Pet Care class and Canine Behavior where I trained local shelter dogs. Through my studies, I’ve learned about nutrition, anatomy, welfare, husbandry, and diseases/ailments for many species. I’ve worked with a lot of senior animals who have a variety of backgrounds at a farm sanctuary, so I’m comfortable working with pets with special needs. I’ve also been working as an ICH Tech at an equine clinic so I am comfortable with medications such as injections as well. I love talking about my experience and am happy to answer any questions people may have! I love going for walks and hiking! The outdoors are so beautiful and even more lovely when you get to share them with a pet. Early morning walks are my personal favorite. Pet visits also work well in my schedule. I don't mind stopping by to let a pet out, feed, clean, and provide enrichment. I love reading and am happy to hang out with pets outside while I do so. Clear communication and meeting the needs of the client are the most important pieces to pet care to me. I like to take notes about expectations and routines, such as feeding or play time, that way I can provide pets with the most consistency and familiarity I can. I like to update folks about their pets by sending photos and messages. And I keep my phone nearby with notifications on throughout my time so that I am available if folks have any questions, concerns, or are just missing their pet and would like a picture!
About: Animals and nature have been my greatest passion for as long as I can remember. I’ve been exposed to, and well acquainted to a variety of animals, including fish, rodents, reptiles, dogs, cats, horses, chickens, and even a baby squirrel rescue! I am also a volunteer dog walker at my local shelter, which is my therapy and brings me great happiness. I have two dogs of my own that I’ve raised since they were eight weeks old. They are my entire world. I am knowledgeable in basic dog training and obedience, and very observant and understanding of animal behavior. I have a very flexible and adaptable schedule and I am open to what works best for you and your pets needs. I am with my dogs all day everyday. They get all of my love and attention. I constantly monitor for potential hazards and act accordingly in order to limit any risks. Cleanliness and order is my main priority as I value a clean and tidy home. I have fresh water out all day and I feed them twice a day. My dogs get a specialized high end kibble which I supplement with fresh meat, organ, eggs, fruits, veggies, goats milk, coconut oil, bone broth, salmon oil, turmeric and a daily vitamin. I wash my dogs as needed or every two weeks. I brush their teeth, fur, and clip their nails weekly as well. I only have high quality chew bones and other toys available that don’t pose a risk as my dogs are heavy chewers.
About: Starting from a young age I knew I needed to be a pet care provider. Starting in high school I worked at several barns providing care for various livestock and companion animal species alike. While I love our livestock, I find more fulfillment in helping our household pets. I’m currently working on an animal care and behavior degree, and work at an animal hospital. I have experience in giving oral medications (to both dogs and cats) as well as subcutaneous fluids. Examples of care; walking them, to giving them medicine (if needed), feeding them, making sure they have water, don’t overheat, have basically everything they need as they are with me, to having them for sleep overs, and staying with them for however long was needed. About: I have been a pet owner for 30+ years (currently own no pets) and a pet sitter from the 80's and 90's when it was new to have someone in your house taking care of pets while traveling. I am new to Wayne County, after living in Delaware County, PA for 50 years. I am looking for a part time work from home job, but in the meantime thought I could fill my days with dog lovin. I miss having my own pet, so loving and caring for others would be a great fit. My home is spacious, with plenty of room to play, sleep and be crated (if necessary). I live on 2 acres, with access to 10k+ acres of woods out my back door. There is plenty of walking and exploring to do out my back door.
