About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.

“Toktam was a loving, sensitive angel when it came to the way she took care of our little Puerto Rican rescue pup Maisie. Maisie is quite wary of new people, but to my delight and surprise, the second day we dropped her off Maisie smiled a doggie smile usually reserved for only three family members (me, my daughter and my husband) and happily rushed to Toktam's front yard gate to see her! Wow! That was a first. I have had really good experiences with Rover but this one was the absolute best because even though I am a worry wart and very protective of our sensitive, formerly traumatized little street dog Maisie, once I met Toktam, I was immediately comfortable, confident and relieved that she would be in the best of hands for her four days of daycare. About: I pay close attention to pets as I do children, treating each with love, respect, compassion, and empathy. Sometimes no words are needed, just a scratch under the chin, chest, head, or ears! Other times, fuzzy friends need to be told what a great gift from God they truly are. Friends and family have trusted me to take care of their fur babies and I've been handling & working with dogs almost every day for almost two years as a doggy daycare attendant, kennel staff, special pup advisor, and group coordinator. I love taking them on walks and practicing sits, stays, downs, give paws, etc... I absolutely love all animals and promise to take care of your babies as if they were my own! I currently work part-time so I'll have plenty of time to check in on & spend with your pets! I'm available Saturdays before 12pm, Sundays all day, & most holidays before 3pm. Weekday hours vary and I will always be super transparent about my availability! Your pets' safety is important to me so please feel free to leave detailed instructions and I will follow them to a T. I will also keep consistent contact with you, providing (p)updates with photos! I can crate your dog(s) if needed as well. I'm also Red Cross animal first aid certified. I've handled several scuffles and am able to remain calm in any situation that may arise. Your pet will always be safe with me!

About: I never had the pleasure of owning a dog of my own growing up, so I always had a greater appreciation for the moments I got to enjoy being in the company of a friendly dog. I have always loved animals in general and dogs especially. Your dog will be in great, caring hands with me. About: Grief has allowed me bond with dogs. They are so loving and caring. My dogs get me through the day. They recognize when I’m having a rough day. Wake up, get outside. I always make sure my large dogs rest before and after eating. Do not want their stomachs to flip. Walk my dogs every day no matter the weather. The exercise and fresh air is great for all of us. About: I grew up on a farm in Florida, so I’ve been around a variety of animals. For three years I worked at a doggy daycare where I supervised many different ages and breeds in large groups while casually training them. I am a foster home for dogs as well. I am a nursing student part time, so I have plenty of hours throughout the week to care for your furry friends! I would be happy to work around schedules to make sure I am able to help you out! I have a pretty large fenced in yard and another very friendly dog as well. She loves to play but is respectful if your pet does not. She takes social cues from other dogs well. About: I have past experience working for Wag where I walked a number of different dogs over the course of about a year and a half. I also have experience with raising, training, and caring for my own pups as well as my two cats! I work as a freelancer currently, so I will have plenty of time to stop in and care for your pet any day of the week you need me!
