Although I am their caregiver, I consider them also to be my teachers. Learning how to communicate with them is the best way to ensure they are happy and calm, and that they feel safe. I am currently retired and spend quite a bit of time at the dog park. My dog and I are mostly inseparable. I take him with me to run errands when I can. It isn't always practical and so he minds the house when I am away. Barney is my only companion, and, even though I'm kind of a loner, Barney is NOT. He is extremely friendly and social and craves the company of other dog;, that factors into my decision to care for other dogs in my home. Barney will help me keep your dog comfortable and happy while in our care. We have a fenced back yard (4 foot). The surrounding properties have no dogs at this time. If your dog can jump a 4 foot fence, this may not be the safest home for him or her.

Over the years I’ve cared for dogs of every size, age, and temperament, from tiny lap dogs to a 90-pound Labrador, and from bouncy puppies to dogs in their older years. Experience: My deepest experience is with senior and special-needs dogs. My Labrador had a series of health challenges, including three separate leg surgeries. I nursed him through every recovery, which meant walking him with a support sling until he was back on his feet. When he was later diagnosed with cancer, I cared for him through hospice at home — giving his daily medications and keeping him comfortable and loved right to the end. So if your older dog needs medication, a little mobility help, or just extra patience and gentleness, that’s something I genuinely know how to do. I’m just as comfortable with high-energy dogs. That same Labrador was a handful in his younger years, so I know what it takes to keep a strong, active dog happy and well-exercised. I also love puppies and understand the patience and consistency they need. I’m happy to walk more than one dog at a time, and I have experience with leash-reactive dogs — I know how to keep walks calm, controlled, and low-stress for a dog who needs a little extra management. Right now I share my home with two girls — a 15-year-old Chihuahua mix and a 2-year-old Cairn Terrier — so both ends of the age spectrum are part of my daily routine. Before them I’ve cared for several terriers and a Border Collie mix, among others. I walk my own dogs every single day and I’ll keep yours on a good routine too. About: I've been caring for all kinds of pets, from dogs and cats to reptiles and Macaws. I've also volunteered at bird reacues and animal shelters in both New Mexico and Iowa. I have experience in animal training and Im currently an at home student at CNM so I have plenty of time to entertain and care for your pet. I enjoy making pet care a full time part of my life. I have a large fenced in back yard perfect for safe running and playing. It's got a nice spacious grass lawn with pet safe plants. The inside is pet safe and proof for your animals safety.
About: I’ve had dogs my entire life (over 20 years of experience) and I love both cats and dogs! I trained my dogs to do tricks and potty trained them as well. I do well with dogs and cats of all ages and activity levels. I have two senior dogs and one young dog full of energy. I’m currently in school full-time and will have plenty of time to spend time with your pets! I am available during weekdays and weekends from 7am to 6pm. I have three dogs of varying ages and activity levels who do well together on walks. I am good at controlling them when they see other dogs on a walk and have extra harnesses for your pup just in case.

All 3 of my dogs have some type of health issue that requires daily medication, they’re on an annoyingly specific diet because my geriatric dog needs the extra inventive to eat regularly, and although they’re sweet they’re a bit wild. They love him and are always happily tired when it’s time to go home. He also always has their supplies packed and ready for me when I get back to pick them up. 10/10!”
