I found myself in a tough situation where I needed a very last minute dog sitter for my less than two-week old rescue pup, Lilah, who was also on meds at the time. As a new dog owner + an owner of a dog I didn't know that well, I was obviously very nervous to be leaving her. Upon arriving to her house, I could see that Theresa and her family would provide the highest care for Lilah and make her one of their own for the weekend—that they did and I'm pretty sure Lilah had the time of her life. Lilah has severe separation anxiety, EXTREMELY high energy as a young pit/boxer mix, and is still working on her dog socialization skills, but they were absolutely fantastic in working with all of her quirks and needs throughout the weekend. They also have an amazing, massive fenced in backyard that was perfect for her energy needs, and it was great that she got in some socialization with their sweet dogs. Their patience, attention, and care with Lilah left her a better pup then when I dropped her off. If you're anywhere near the OBX, Theresa is definitely the way to go.”

A fun little backstory about me...most teenagers get jobs to have money to go to the mall or whatever it is that they want to do, well my goal was to save up all the money I made and get my own puppy. Special accommodations can be made for dogs who are not able to do either of those. == WALKS == While it is our goal to make sure each dog get proper exercise and socialization, we do not provide walks during boarding due to liability and risk factors involved with walks (dogs escaping from harness, eating something off the side walk, coming into contact with an unfriendly dog, etc). We do, however give them plenty of outdoor time with the other dogs or solo to socialize and play, which we find is ample exercise for the pups that stay with us. REQUESTED INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PET Prior to dropping off, please fill out your dog's bio as much as possible. == THINGS WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR DOG == -Is your pup sick and/or contagious? -Quirks or habits that would be helpful to know (humping, chewing on paws, separation anxiety, excessive barking, etc). -Current or past illnesses, injuries, or traumatic history/triggers. -If they are taking any medication or require any special care instructions. -Is your pup up to date on vaccinations and flea & tick medication. We understand vaccines are not bulletproof and that some illnesses may have an extended incubation period but we highly recommend the vaccines to create the safest experience. *Please know that we are unable to care for sick/contagious dogs. If your pup shows any signs of disease or illness, please let us know beforehand so we can make sure you receive a proper refund. If we discover that your pup is exhibiting obvious symptoms of disease with the first 12 hours with us, your dog will need to be picked up and no refund will be issued. I am a stay at home mama. I pick up and drop off my children at school and have the rest of the day free to help take care of your dogs. We live in a very clean two-story home, fenced in yard, and all the necessities required to properly care for your pets. About: I have three dogs with my family. A Great Pyrenees, German shepherd, and English Retriever. Which we raised from puppies. We have also raised chickens. I have always grown up with animals and will love and take care of yours like family. I am a college student with a very flexible schedule, Monday-Sunday. I have taken care of several multi-pet households from high energy german shepherds to the biggest of couch potatoes. I have taken care of dogs and cats in the same household and will maintain their routine and give them many potty breaks. PS: I know my photos dont look the best whoever I am working on it and you will receive many updates on your pets day I am a college student so my schedule is very flexible and allows me all the time in the world to love your pets. I am available Monday-Sunday starting at 10am til whenever I am needed I will follow whatever schedule you give to the letter. The average day would be breakfast in morning with a 30 min to an 1hr walk to give them all the time to digest and get that energy out. In the afternoon I will either play with them outside or go on another walk. In the evening is dinner and another walk or playtime so they can take that well deserved nap. In between those walks I will always be near and doting on your pet (unless they show discomfort) and making sure they get there potty breaks and water is filled. I couldn't imagine treating your pet anyless than my own.
About: I currently have two young Lab pups who needs all the attention. I understand the needs of puppies but also of senior dogs. My parents had many dogs while I was growing up and I’ve learned how to fit every dogs needs. I am currently a stay at home dog mom so I will have plenty of time to care for all your animals needs! About: I’ve had dogs in my home my entire life and have always been an animal lover ever since I was a child! A fun little backstory about me...most teenagers get jobs to have money to go to the mall or whatever it is that they want to do, well my goal was to save up all the money I made and get my own puppy. About: I like animals more than people and I’ve never met an animal I couldn’t make friends with! While I am new to Rover, caring for animals is not new to me. As a kid I helped my dad raise three litters of puppies, which taught me early on about responsibility, patience, and proper animal care. Over the years, I’ve always had anywhere from one to four dogs and one to two cats at a time. In addition to dogs and cats, I currently have or have had bunnies, turtles, fish, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, and cows. I also have experience caring for and riding horses. I’ve helped with the birth of puppies, goats, and piglets. While I’m not a veterinarian nor do I have formal veterinary training - having owned and cared for a plethora of animal species, I have learned a lot about animals and gained a lot of hands-on experience. I’m comfortable caring for sick animals, administering basic medical care, and monitoring health concerns. Animals have always gravitated toward me — especially the shy, anxious, or less trusting. I’m patient, calm, and genuinely enjoy earning their trust. While your pets are my responsibility, they will be spoiled, loved, safe, and well cared for. I recently decided to leave my people-y career after 15 years. Again, I prefer animals to people so I can’t think of a better way to spend my newly acquired free time! About: I've been an animal lover all of my life. I had cats for most of my childhood and early adulthood. They were my best buddies who cuddled and slept with me, as well as posed for drawings and paintings. About 18 years ago I adopted a pit mix, named Humble. He was the most gentle giant you could ever meet. He accompanied me on camping and hiking trips in Maine. He passed away a few years ago. Now I'm the lucky mom of a rescue dog named Chance. He is an 8 year old undetermined breed. He may be a Doxie mixed with Papillion. I rescued him from the streets of China. I was working as an ESL teacher in Shenzhen,China at the time. He is one of my best friends and I spoil him with lots of love, treats and walks. I am a certified yoga teacher, artist and pet care provider. I started out pet sitting as a side business to earn some extra money, but it has become so much more than that. It is such a rewarding job and a great honor to care for so many beautiful animals! As a new dog owner + an owner of a dog I didn't know that well, I was obviously very nervous to be leaving her. Upon arriving to her house, I could see that Theresa and her family would provide the highest care for Lilah and make her one of their own for the weekend—that they did and I'm pretty sure Lilah had the time of her life. Lilah has severe separation anxiety, EXTREMELY high energy as a young pit/boxer mix, and is still working on her dog socialization skills, but they were absolutely fantastic in working with all of her quirks and needs throughout the weekend. They also have an amazing, massive fenced in backyard that was perfect for her energy needs, and it was great that she got in some socialization with their sweet dogs. Their patience, attention, and care with Lilah left her a better pup then when I dropped her off. If you're anywhere near the OBX, Theresa is definitely the way to go.”
