“Boarding with Ellen was outstanding. We had a family emergency that made taking our large dog with us impossible. He’s five-years old and had never been away from home - I am sure it was challenging for him. While not aggressive or disobedient, at about 120lbs he can be intimidating. Ellen was clearly very comfortable with him during our meet and greet visit and was very confident he’d be fine with her. He absolute was! She made him very at home on her beautiful farmette with her pack of critters. They all looked clean and loved. I noted her calmness with the dogs and confidence in their interaction under her watchful eye. The dogs have plenty of space to run and socialize. She made sure we gave her his “regular” food and medications, and verified other foods he would be allowed to have. She sent regular updates and photos during his stay. Each action shot was accompanied by a thoughtful narrative of the photo. We really enjoyed pictures of his quiet time, napping with the other dogs in her home was comforting. They all looked content. We needed an extra day of boarding because of the unpredictability of our travel and Ellen made it so easy. Our dog made new friends and we did too.”

About: I have been caring for animals my entire life! I have been trusted by many friends, family, and neighbors to care for and walk their pets! I personally have a Rottweiler, black lab and rough collie and have raised cows and pigs my whole life. I love animals of all sizes! I can be flexible with times and am able to do early mornings and late nights! I currently work 10am-6pm which allows me to be free in the mornings and in the evenings , often when others are not available for pet care. I treat any and all animals as I would my own, with love and respect! Depending on what I am there for I will make sure all animal needs are met. About: Although we are new to the area, we are definitely not new to caring for dogs. We recently purchased the well-known dog kennel in Smithsburg and are in the process of restoring it. Parts of the kennel are already fully functional, and we’re excited to begin welcoming dogs while we continue improving the property. It’s a place many people in the community already know, and we feel lucky to be able to carry on its history. Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with them and honestly can’t remember a time when I didn’t love being around them. That same love has followed me into adulthood. Over the years I’ve naturally become the neighborhood go-to pet sitter. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me with their pets for years, and I always care for them the same way I care for my own dogs — with patience, attention, and lots of affection. One of the things I’m most proud of is the therapy work I did with my dog. I trained and certified her as a therapy dog, and for 10 years we volunteered together in hospitals and nursing homes. That experience actually inspired my career path, and I went on to become a certified occupational therapist. My sweet therapy dog has since passed away after a long and wonderful life. She was incredibly special to me. I’m now starting that journey again with my new puppy, Merango, and hope to continue therapy work in the future. Right now I’m taking some time away from my occupational therapy work to focus on renovating and restarting the kennel. It’s something I’ve always dreamed about doing, and I’m excited to bring new life to a place that so many people in the community already know. I also have experience caring for senior dogs and dogs with medical needs, including giving medications like insulin injections. Our property has large outdoor fenced runs that give dogs plenty of space to move around and enjoy the fresh air in a quiet farm setting. injections. We are early risers in our home and typically start the day around 7 AM with potty breaks and breakfast. Mornings are usually spent outside enjoying the property — going on walks around our 20-acre farm or spending time in the fenced runs while I do morning chores. Around lunchtime everyone, animals included, usually settles in for a quiet rest period. I check that everyone has fresh water and food if needed before nap time. In the mid-afternoon we head back outside for more activity. Depending on the dog, this may include running in the fenced fields, exploring the property on a guided walk, or simply relaxing in the fresh air. Dinner is around 6 PM, followed by a calm evening inside. We finish the day with a final potty break and check-in before bedtime around 9 PM. My goal is to give dogs a peaceful farm stay with plenty of space to move, fresh air, and a consistent routine so they feel comfortable and relaxed while they’re away from home I understand how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else’s care. When I first started using Rover for my own dogs, I remember feeling nervous too. I always appreciated sitters who kept me updated, so I make a point to do the same. I’m happy to send photos and updates so you can see how your dog is doing and feel confident they’re happy and well cared for. On our property, dogs have access to spacious individual indoor/outdoor kennel runs where they can relax comfortably. We also have several large fenced areas where dogs can safely run, play, and explore. About: I have over 45 years of experience caring for dogs of all ages as well as many other types of animals that have honored me with living with me over the years (cats, horses, guinea pigs, gecko, Madagascar hissing cockroach, parrots, flying squirrel, rabbits). My original dream was to become a vet so I have a background interning with veterinarian, working multiple years in a grooming and boarding facility and had my own very successful animal care and sitting business as a teenager. I have great nail trimming skills as well! Animals are naturally drawn to me and sense my love and respect for them. I work remotely so am pretty flexible with schedules. I also have taken the pet CPR course! I work remotely from home so am flexible in what I can offer. I feed my own pets multiple times a day and am able to monitor what is consumed. There are friendly cats who live with me although I would likely gate off my kitchen / sunroom area where my office is so that I can supervise and ensure harmony with unknown pet if in my home.

They love everyone and everything but are at the age where sleep is the ruler of their day. I’m joining Rover semi selfishly because they have less ability for adventures now, yet unselfishly as any boarding time that your pet spends with us means spoiled vacation time with grandma and grandpa for them. However, I’m happy to keep them around if you have a puppy who needs socializing/ wise knowledge gathering from their elders. My schedule is currently limited to biweekly availability. Repeat clients are able to reach out to inquire about specific dates even if they are not listed. I’m currently customizing my calendar week to week and will open days up as needed. Feel free to inquire. In my home/ in life, pets are considered cherished family members. I am attentive, interactive and just overall excited to meet some new furry pals. I can keep up with any personality from frantic ball chaser to subdued couch potato. I know that every pet is different just as any human is different and am happy to accommodate in whatever way makes all happy.

About: I’ve had dogs for over 30 years. Mostly small to medium dogs. I also have a bearded dragon, aquatic turtle and lion head rabbit. I’ve watched my neighbors dogs several times. I currently homeschool my kids so we are available almost anytime. We go to church on Sunday mornings but otherwise we are easy to work around. We do walks in both the neighborhood and the park if it’s close. If there is a yard we will use that to run and play.

I used to volunteer at petco adoption events and volunteered at a horse boarding facility. I work part time and go to college. I take online courses and have a very flexible work schedule. “Boarding with Ellen was outstanding. We had a family emergency that made taking our large dog with us impossible. He’s five-years old and had never been away from home - I am sure it was challenging for him. While not aggressive or disobedient, at about 120lbs he can be intimidating. Ellen was clearly very comfortable with him during our meet and greet visit and was very confident he’d be fine with her. He absolute was! She made him very at home on her beautiful farmette with her pack of critters. They all looked clean and loved. I noted her calmness with the dogs and confidence in their interaction under her watchful eye. The dogs have plenty of space to run and socialize. She made sure we gave her his “regular” food and medications, and verified other foods he would be allowed to have. She sent regular updates and photos during his stay. Each action shot was accompanied by a thoughtful narrative of the photo. We really enjoyed pictures of his quiet time, napping with the other dogs in her home was comforting. They all looked content. We needed an extra day of boarding because of the unpredictability of our travel and Ellen made it so easy. Our dog made new friends and we did too.”
