We have left our dog Annie with Karen many times, sometimes for just a night or two and sometimes for over a week when taking longer vacations. About: I’m a lifetime animal lover, and get along terrifically well with dogs. My house is the go-to for friends and family needing a place for their pups to stay. I am retired with volunteer jobs part-time (2mornings), during the week. I’m never away from home for more than a few hours during which time my dog-friendly feline can either ignore your dog or keep them company. I’m home the majority of the time. Cozy corner in my den seems to be everyone’s favorite hangout and spot for their bed. The ilving room has multiple sunny spots for napping throughout the day. “Oh my goodness, Kathryn is the simply the best!!! I love my summers on Nantucket but it can be necessary to leave the island briefly at times. And it’s not always easy or desirable to uproot my dogs. My 2 little Maltese dogs (ages 4 and 11) just loved her. One is skittish and one is a ‘senior’ who needs medication; both of them took to her right away and she was so comfortable and capable with their little quirks and needs. She did double duty as house-sitter and doggie care-giver, and I couldn’t be more pleased on both fronts! I came home to happy puppies and an immaculate home. It doesn’t get any better. ??❤️”

“Madaket watched our dog Cooper for a week, and was wonderful! She sent us photos each day showing the days activities which included going for walks, playing with her dog Bermuda, and just relaxing. When Cooper came home to us, he was relaxed and happy (unlike when he had been boarded elsewhere). Not only can we highly recommend Madaket to watch your pet, but we have already booked Cooper to be with her again for a couple more stays.”

“My wife and I recently moved out of state from the Cape. We could not leave without writing one last review of Karen. We have left our dog Annie with Karen many times, sometimes for just a night or two and sometimes for over a week when taking longer vacations. We cannot begin to say how much we and Annie will miss Karen and Juni. Karen is the kindest person you could ever meet. She loves dogs and immediately took Annie in as though her own. She is a dog whisperer. Annie loves her. She is truly a remarkable dog sitter and human being. We could always relax when we left Annie with her as we were totally confident in her ability to handle any situation that might arise as well as know she always was providing exceptional care and a happy and loving experience for our pup. As for Juni, Annie loved playing with her, sleeping next to her and just being with her whenever she would visit. Juni is the sweetest, most friendly and happy lab. Annie will miss her terribly. Annie would begin barking with excitement the moment we got off route 6 for Hyannis. This always made our hearts sing. Karen and Juni are simply exceptional. My wife, Annie, and I will forever miss them.”

“Kayla was absolutely wonderful and I cannot recommend her enough! From the very start she went above and beyond — she was open to meeting us in person before the stay so Willow could get comfortable ahead of time, which made such a difference. Throughout the week she was communicative, sent photos, and was flexible in every way. But honestly, what stood out most was how much she genuinely loved Willow. You could just tell. She told us multiple times how sweet Willow was and that she’d miss her — and we believed every word of it. For us, leaving our girl with someone is a big deal, and Kayla made it so easy to feel at peace. We will absolutely use her again the next time we’re on the island. If you’re looking for a sitter who will treat your dog like family, look no further!”

About: I’m a lifetime animal lover, and get along terrifically well with dogs. My house is the go-to for friends and family needing a place for their pups to stay. I am retired with volunteer jobs part-time (2mornings), during the week. I’m never away from home for more than a few hours during which time my dog-friendly feline can either ignore your dog or keep them company. I’m home the majority of the time. Cozy corner in my den seems to be everyone’s favorite hangout and spot for their bed. The ilving room has multiple sunny spots for napping throughout the day. We will take several neighborhood walks a day and if dog and owner are willing, I go to Thompson’s field in Harwich where they can romp.
