Highly-rated overnight sitters - Shabbona
“I am definitely going back to Barbara. My puppy had a really good time with her and I can tell she is very knowledgeable and caring. I'm glad I chose her as a dog sitter.”

“I felt so relieved to leave our doggie Whiskey with Susan and her husband. They gave him so much love and attention. She sent us so many pictures of how he was doing and his daily activities. She walked him, played with him and gave him all the love I could ever ask for. We felt so great leaving our doggie baby with her and have already planned another trip in the spring and have it booked. Im so happy I found her on Rover”

“Kim is great!! Both Milo and Daisy love her so much! So far, best sitter for my babies. Every time we needed someone to take care of them, she was available for us! As long as my babies are happy and loved, we are happy!”

“It is with deepest regret that we have to inform any previous sitter that we said was good in the past..... DOES NOT HOLD A CANDLE TO MIRIAM & TERRELL!!! No, we are not relatives or neighbors of/to them. No we didn't know them from the ole' college days, and no we didn't meet them at a bar or grocery store. Nope. We just needed a sitter about 5 days before we left town, saw their listing here on Rover. We messaged back and forth a bit, booked it, dropped 'em off Friday night, and WOW! They are truly into being great sitters for your pups! No joke. You could not ask for anymore. So many updates. So many little features that I will not tell you, but you will love... We promise. You can go off to wherever it is your going, and from drop off to pick up, you will not worry one bit about your pupper(s)! Unless there is an apocalypse, we will not use anyone else! Thank you Miriam & Terrell!”

“Balbina took my gentle giant over an extended period of time and took him in as if he was her own. Sent daily updates of all activities and even did a stellar job with his medication. 10/10 I would rebook. And I’m sure my dog got all of the attention he could have ever wanted. Thank you!”

“Julia was absolutely a dream! She took such incredible care of our Weimaraner, Mozzie. Great communication, great photos and she made sure he had his own vacation while we were away! 10/10 and will rebook again!”

“Dana is AMAZING!!! Skylar has such a fun time at her house and she made new friends. Dana sent us pictures and updates of our Skylar everyday which I loved to see. I would definitely refer her to everybody around and also will contact her again if we happen to need someone to watch Skylar again. Five stars!!!”
“I honestly can’t thank Kathleen enough for watching my baby! She sent pictures and videos throughout the weekend. I know my boy was loved. He played all weekend and was absolutely worn out after playing in Kathleen’s backyard all weekend. Aside from taking such great care of my boy, she was super flexible and understanding of my schedule. My plans had changed last minute and she ended up taking him a second night. We also got into town a little later than I thought and she was kind the entire time! Kathleen thank you so so much for making my weekend stress free and taking such amazing care of my fur baby!”

“Michele was great! Our 5yr old dog was only babysat one time ever prior to this. So he's a bit nervous with strangers. We were out of state on vacation for 2wks and we were worried how he'd do. Well Michele sent pics and msgs everyday we asked which was great! Michele did an exceptional job! We are super pleased with Michele and would use her again for sure.”

“Jackie is the absolute best! She and my pup have become best buddies. She takes such good care of him. I feel so confident when he’s there and she’s amazing at sending updates and pictures too. I would highly recommend!”

“Brian and his family were amazing! We did a meet and greet beforehand and I knew from there my dog would be in the best hands. They would send me pictures daily and would reply to me right away! Communication was great throughout the whole stay. Would definitely be using again. Thank you guys”

“I am so happy that I found Jill. She couldn’t have been more attentive and caring, and she went “that extra mile.” Scottie was so happy when I picked him up.” It was like he never left home. Much better than leaving him in a kennel for 12 days. She truly loves dogs.”

“Peggy was wonderful to our little Oscar. She messaged multiple times a day as requested and sent pictures of the little guy. She also noticed him biting his paws due to allergies and alerted me right away. I was in an area with bad service and did not get the message right away so she went ahead and reached out to my vet and scheduled a time to go in because he had chewed his paw to the point where he was bleeding. By the time I found out she was already on top of it. She took him and brought him home with a cone and gave him medication as prescribed. She even followed up asking about him days later once we picked him up. You can just tell that Peggy is an animal lover. I will absolutely be booking Peggy again, i love the fact that she only takes one dog in at a time because you know the full attention is going to your animal. Thank you Peggy!”

“The only sitter I’ll ever leave my old boy with again 😍🐾👍 Kathleen is so genuinely warm… I now have an elderly dog with a lot of medication and pain issues and she took superb care of him as if he were her own!!!! I got tons of updates and pictures and I always felt that he was in the best care!! I love the fact that her and her husband work from home so they’re always home with the animals❤️❤️ I cannot say enough good things about Kathleen. We’ve been using her for years now and she has always come through for last second dates…. Simply the best thank you from the bottom of my heart for the work you do.❤️❤️”

“Erin did a wonderful job! She was very thorough and detailed and made sure to give me precise updates. She’s also reliable and trustworthy. I appreciate her help so much. I would most definitely recommend using her for your pet sitting needs.”

“Cora took an amazing care of our cat. From start to finish, she was professional and incredibly attentive. We received regular updates with photos, which gave us peace of mind since it was the first time we left our cat for five days. Our cat was well cared and comfortable. We highly recommend Cora to anyone looking for a reliable pet sitter. We’ll be booking with her again!”

About: Tiger is my personal cat. I have shopped for her food, taken her to the vet, and fulfilled all her needs since I got her. I have her maintenance schedule to fill all her needs, cause no pets are low maintenance, it just means they aren't getting the care they need. Every four months her litter box gets deep clean, the box itself and scoop get washed. The litter box gets scooped twice a week. She also gets brushed twice a week, because not only does she enjoy it, but it reduces hairballs and promotes fur health (and less fur in the house!). I play with her a minimum of once a day, twice is the average though. She gets fed three times a day from wet food, and has a water fountain that gets a monthly deep clean. I do have experience giving her medication in her food along with her probiotic. Occasionally she goes for a leashed walk in the yard for extra stimulation. I have only cared for my own cat, but I am willing to go up and beyond for any cat.

“Julianna was absolutely wonderful with my cats while I was away.My cats clearly loved her,and I really appreciated all the pictures and daily updates she sent it made me feel so much better about leaving them at home. She was very attentive, caring and very good with them. I always felt informed and reassured knowing they were in great hands. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable pet sitter, and I will absolutely use her services again in the future.”

“Anja was great! Communication was excellent and I got picture updates which was an added bonus. I have a camera (fully disclosed this) and she greeted my cats every time she came in, giving them scratches and pets. My cats were relaxed and went about as usual per my camera when Anja was gone, so I know they were well taken of. I highly recommend.”

“Bianca was a wonder! She is very reliable- I never had to worry about my cat being taken care of during an extended trip. Bianca sent pics and vids that weren't just cute, but also informative- playtime, meal time, snuggle time. She is an amazing communicator, not just with the two-legged, but the four-legged as well. My cat let her pet the tum-tum right away, and we all know what that means. :) I highly recommend this warm, friendly, reliable sitter!”

Perfect for high energy dogs - Shabbona

About: Hello! Kim and family here. We have over 30 years of animal care experience. From cats and dogs to lizards and horses. We feel comfortable with a variety of animals. With a background in law enforcement adjacent positions and a TS clearance. Clean background. Bachelors level education in behavioral science and criminal justice and security administration, as well as CPR certifications for humans and animals, and a vet assisting certification/experience! We can administer insulin and give oral medications. We also LOVE elderly animals. We are licensed bonded and insured. And have decades of the world under our feet. Animals are like people to us. We actually prefer them, and function with them better. Living on a five acre hobby farm for over a decade. They are literally our family now that the kids have aged into adults. It’s me and my husband Mike here. My family helps me operate a small pet care business out of Big Rock IL. House Sitting: We treat your home with respect and follow all of your rules. Water plants. Get mail. And stick to pet schedules. Please advise we do this full time. Each sitting is different as each animal and owner ask for different things. If full time care is needed it will be an extended stay rate of 125 for 8am through 8pm hours and 75 for the night. If we can’t come and go. We can’t make money. This is all I do for income and no one can survive off of only 75 or less for the day. Otherwise most sittings look like me making that my center of gravity through any schedule I have for the day. Usually no longer than four to six hours away from the home while out with drops in accrued in a single day. For Boarding: PLEASE READ: This is a home setting; we do not consistently tour our home. I believe the photos on here and reviews do us justice. We send pet parents updates with the surrounding view almost daily to every other day. Having people walk through the house consistently was just too much for out family and the farm animals here. So we do not do this anymore. In the future we may build a kennel/outbuildings addition, and will offer tours of that should the time ever come that we decide to do that. But again, WE DO NOT PROVIDE TOURS OF OUR PERSONAL HOME. There are also other considerations to consider that most residential people do not account for. 1. Liability coverage: my liability coverage covers your animals. Not you. 2. Animal anxiety: it’s a chain. The system I have for doing things allows for animals to be as calm and anxiety free as possible. If you’re on the property. The regulars don’t know you and anxiety fills the entire area. 3. Biosecurity: Don’t take this the wrong way. I don’t know where your shoes have been. 4. Private farm setting: exactly as it states. The lay out past my private acres long drive does not even allow access to my front door without going through two secured gates. It’s not easy access. 5. Safety: I live in the middle of nowhere, and do not need anyone to know the exact lay out of my home. You’re signing up for pet service. I am providing this service. Not giving people access to my home. Thank you for understanding. Please note this is a country setting. Someone is always here if I (Kim) am not. Sometimes photos have issues sending. But they always eventually go through. Service can be patchy because it’s the country. Text updates are reliably daily. I pride myself on building close relationships with my clients. I treat the animals I care for with top priority as my family does this full time and this is our entire income. Our reviews and the animals we care for speak for themselves. If you’re looking for someone to love and care for your animals with truth, trust, and transparency. That also has a family of well versed animal humans at her disposal as back up care approved through Rover. You are in the right place. Look forward to hearing from you. -Kimberly, Mike, and Family. Please note that prices will more than likely rise, since Rover has gone from taking 20 percent of each booking to now 30 percent from sitters. Prices must rise to enable us to continue providing service while combating this rise in inflation, not only on the platform, but in the world. Liability contract needed to continue service with the understanding that dogs bark, bite, scratch, and get into physical environmental factors. In a farm setting please make sure all of your animals are on needed monthly flea and tick preventative as well as heart guard. I have plenty of time for your pups and their specific needs/routines. We cater to every animal as if they were our own, and understand each one is special and different. We have a double fenced yard, with lots of open space indoors and out. Extra crates and or farm house furniture for your pets needs.
“Jennifer and her husband are the best! We had never boarded or had our dog go to “daycare” and she put all of our worries at ease. She kept us updated and sent photos. Toby gets excited when he realizes where we are going and comes home happy and tired every time.”

“Jennifer is the best! I was nervous at first because I’m very selective about who I trust with my baby, but she immediately reassured me and took the time to explain her process. She is not only flexible, but incredibly understanding, and the way she truly cares about your dog is one of a kind. Jennifer is excellent with communication she provided consistent updates and photos throughout the day, which gave me so much peace of mind. I highly recommend her!”

“Miriam was wonderful, absolutely wonderful with Katie, our terrier rescue. She let her sit on her lap while she worked. She had a raincoat, then a winter coat, on her when the weather got colder for her trips outdoors. She furnished these coats, I didn't bring any. A 3-page report card was given to me when I picked Katie up. It detailed her potty breaks and told cute little stories about their day together. I received numerous pics and videos that I thoroughly enjoyed. I met Terrell when I was leaving, and he seemed just as wonderful. I would give her 100 stars if I could.”

“Max had a wonderful time spending the day with Roger and his two dogs. Roger provided many pictures and a great summary of Max's time spent there. Highly recommend.”

“I absolutely love leaving my dog with Beyonka! My pup is always extremely happy when he goes to her place, and that gives me so much peace of mind knowing he’s being well cared for. Every time I pick him up he smells delicious and looks so well-loved. You can tell she truly enjoys what she does. I 100% recommend her—she’s amazing!”

About: Love to have a furry companion on my walks and give them some time outside, I’ve had dogs my whole life big and small and always enjoy walking them. Me and my husband are working part time, and we love dogs, so we have plenty of free days to spend and take nice walks with your pup! Our house has a fenced in yard and we also have a few gates so the dogs can’t get to any places they shouldn’t be.
About: I have always loved every different kind of animal out there, but spent my childhood with mostly just cats. 15 years ago, I adopted my first puppy, a German Short-haired Pointer, at the age of 8 weeks. My ex-husband and I decided to take the "treatless training" approach which was a huge success! Crate training, leash training, obedience training were all a collaborative effort and turned out extremely well. 10 years later, we adopted a sweet rescue named Gizmo who was already 7 years old, but became part of the family immediately. They have both passed on now to doggy heaven, but I am always the first to offer to care for other family member's pets anytime I can :) I'm currently working part-time from my home in Blackberry Creek and always have time for some fur-ball company. My 2 girls, 7 and 10 years old, are with me part time and are also very helpful, gentle and patient with our pets and hopefully yours! I have a fenced back yard with plenty of room for your fur-baby to play and exercise! If it better suits you, I can always come to your home as well for potty and play time :) UPDATE 6/8/26 - Since starting my Rover journey in 2022, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing pets and their wonderful families. Along the way, our household has grown and changed in ways I never expected. In 2023, one of my regular Rover pups (actually a senior pup) became a permanent part of our family. Tigger’s owner had rescued him from a Chicago Animal Shelter just months before I began caring for him. As a 100 lb. Staffordshire Terrier, Great Dane, Bully, etc. mix, Tigger was a big boy with an even bigger heart. His owner dedicated to helping him become the best version of himself, especially since he wasn’t always comfortable around other dogs. With patience, training, and love, he blossomed into the sweetest, gentlest giant you could imagine. When his owner unexpectedly passed away, her husband reached out to ask if I would consider adopting Tigger. My answer was immediate: absolutely. I couldn’t bear the thought of him returning to a shelter. Bringing Tiggy into our family was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My girls and I were lucky enough to love, spoil, and cherish him for three wonderful years before he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We miss him every day, but are so grateful for the time we had together. Since then, we’ve also welcomed two adorable brother cats into our home. They keep us smiling and full our days with plenty of fun and affection. While our family has grown, we’re excited to have some doggy energy back in the house through Rover! When your pup stays with us, they’ll be welcomed with open arms and treated like a part of the family. We understand how much your pets mean to you because we’ve experienced firsthand just how special that bond can be. Our promise is simple: we’ll care for your furry family member with the same love, attention, and respect that we give our own. I work from home full time, so am able to provide your pup with all of the attention they deserve. They are free to run around in the fenced-in backyard and play at their fullest extent! Every pet owner has a different perspective on how to care for their pets. Some require a special routine for dinnertime or bedtime, while others require basic care with lots of love. I will follow whatever instructions are given to me by the owner…and I promise not to judge 😊
About: Hello! I’ve recently decided to join Rover to help around the Chicago area. To me, animals/pets are a gift. Since I was born we always had a family dog. I had a Yorkie named Willy I got in first grade, I was very shy and he was my best friend growing up, I was never alone with him by my side. I volunteered at a couple animal shelters a few times a month when I was younger and always got recognized for how the animals would take to me. I’m a very easy going, energetic and understanding person, just being around animals brings me joy. I would love to help you keep your dog or cat active, happy and satisfied everyday :) I'm currently working part-time (3 days a week, 25 hours) so I have plenty of time to play with your pets! I'm available for boarding on weekends and weekdays after 2 pm currently. ***I started Rover in Arizona in 2019 and have been moving and figuring a lot out since then so my responses haven't been the best previously but I'm finally settled down and fully committing to this as a side job for me and promise to respond promptly :)*** I have a small fenced back yard. I live in Bucktown so I'm pretty lucky to even have that. My pup loves it back there!

Trustworthy and reliable and enjoy all the wonderful and beautiful personalities our pets have and embrace them all! Dogs allowed on bed for sleeping time to cuddle but not on furniture. Prefer dogs that can feel comfortable in a roomy kennel should need arise to leave my home for a couple hours as to keep all fur babies safe in their own space while unsupervised. About: I have always had a special connection with animals, dogs especially, and grown up being called an animal whisper. Ive had dogs of all ages my whole life. I have experience with puppies, adults and senior dog care. Currently learning more and more about training dogs and using thoes techniques on my husky mix. Im all for giving your furry friends the care they deserve❤️I dont have any cats! I am currently working at an Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility in Yorkville and my shift is 6am-2pm. My schedule changes every other week. Although my boyfriend works the 3pm-11pm shift so someone is home most of the time. I am not totally free but I would be willing to work something out! My house has a front and back yard-not too big. We use a tie out for our dog and we have a few extras if needed for your dog! Me and my boyfriend live in a two bedroom duplex. Most areas of the house is dog proofed and we have plenty of toys for both to play with. My dog does really good with other dogs and loves to have company and a friend to play with. He is still younger so he can be hyper at first but will eventually calm down:)
About: When I was 7 years old I got my first puppy. His name was Jake, a baby lab. I trained him myself and raised him throughout his entire life. I have a natural affinity with animals. I am great at figuring out what my furry baby needs from me, I am also great at calming down irritable pups. My puppy passed 5 years ago due to health conditions and I instantly got two more. I now have two Australian shepherds who are very high energy and need a lot of love, play, and attention which I always provide top quality. I have also been relied on by friends and family countless times to take care of their puppies or all different kinds. Pictures of these beautifies can be found in my profile. I feed, walk, bathe, play, and much more with them, I know they always enjoy themselves and their owners are always greatfull and eager for me to watch them again. I have even taken care of peoples bunnies, reptiles, crustaceans, cats/kittens (I am allergic to cats so I am less likely to take them on). The dogs I have taken care of have been xs-xl sized so I can handle myself, even two animals at a time would be no problem. Currently, my schedule is very flexible as I am working with DoorDash where I get to schedule my own work times and days (based on the area and how busy it is). This allows me a lot of time to devote towards your furry baby! I work the most from 4-9:30pm on weekdays and weekends (primarily). Weekdays are more negotiable than weekends, as these are my only jobs currently. There will never be a time where I need to focus on both jobs simultaneously, any furry baby with me will have my undivided attention! My home is a very safe, clean, and organized environment. So, there will be no worry for any choking hazards, sharp objects, or hazardous foods/liquids in furry reach. That being said there is also a door that blocks off the kitchen area. If there is any specific housing instructions, I will cater to them to the best of my abilities!

I feel his bowl up with his favorite dog food from blue buffalo. Second walk of the day is around noon outside around the neighborhood check in with some of the friends dogs and back home. We take a little nap around 2 o’clock and then back out for another walk around five. My dog gets another bowl full of blue buffalo. Sometimes he eats it and sometimes he waits and eats it later in the evening. We go out approximately between nine and 10 o’clock. The last of the day potty breaks. I try to keep the same schedule for the dogs so they know what they have to do when we go outside.

About: I have grown up around dogs my entire life. I have also grown up raising birds, cats, and rabbits. I had my first pet-sitting business when I was just 11 years old. I am a current dog and cat mom. I aspire to be a dog trainer and have my own business one day. I have successfully trained my own dog in a variety of different skills and I am eager to gain even more knowledge to work towards my career. I have 3+ years experience working in a dog daycare/boarding facility. I have experience working with dogs of all sizes and all temperaments. I also have experience working with dogs with special needs. I just moved to the area and I am currently looking for a full-time position in the animal care field. In the meantime, I am looking to find work through Rover to stay caught up on finances. I do plan to continue using Rover for side-work after finding a full-time job. I also believe it could help me gain experience towards my career goals. My schedule is very open at the moment. I take my dog on walks every evening and have training sessions for an hour every day. Since I live with other people currently, I can only pet-sit in clients’ homes. I do have a very friendly 5-year old doodle who loves to play with other dogs, so I can always bring him along to keep your pet company. I follow my clients’ instructions to the tee whether regarding potty schedules, feeding schedules, bathing, walking, playing, training, etc. I can also do any additional services if need be while caring for your pet at your home.

About: I have been raised with a pet by side. When I have born we had two brittany spaniels that have since passed on. In 8th grade, after they passed, we adopted another puppy brittany. A year later, we adopted another, to have our current pair of brittanys. So I have experience raising puppies as well. I play with them outdoors and indoors, brush them, clean up their poop, bath them, feed them, and train them. They also get taken on walks at the local forest preserve for stimulation. I have experience in caring for fish and snakes. Between dogs, I had my cat to keep me company. She is solely my cat, so she got the same attention as the dogs, plus I bought her toys, treats, litter, and food. Outside of my dogs I have pet sit goldens labs, goldendoodles, springer spaniels, and many other breeds. As in my headline, I don't think any animal is low maintenance. That just means the pet isn't getting the care it deserves. I had my cat at my dorm first semester, and I fed her breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I made sure to play with twice a day and we played birds on the tv for stimulation as well. I had a weekly schedule to brush her twice a week, and clean the litter box every Sunday and Wednesday. At home I would alternate playing with my dogs, training, and brushing them whenever possible. I can play indoors and outdoors. I can take the animal for walks. Clean up any potential messes, such as muddy dogs or if a cat has a hairball. I can accompany senior pets that need help eating. I can brush the animal. And feed them, and do basic training.

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my extensive experience and genuine love for dogs, which comes from having cared for my own dog for 12 years. This long-term experience has given me a deep understanding of the needs of dogs at different life stages, including senior care. Additionally, I have pet sat numerous times, which has helped me build strong relationships with both pets and their owners. When it comes to my family and friends I am always their first choice because they know I will care for, love, cherish, and put all the time I can into their dog as if they were my own. My patience, attention to detail, and commitment to providing personalized care make me a reliable and compassionate sitter for every dog. I currently work part time and have a generally pretty flexibly schedule as well as numerous breaks throughout the day, so if necessarily I am always able to move things around to accommodate for your pets needs! When I lived in my family home I was always responsible for caring for the pets. This involved: feeding, walking, bathing, playing, and cleaning things like their beds, litter boxes, toys, and food and water bowls. When they needed medicine I was always responsible for administering that and I took them to their appointments whether that be grooming or vet. Now, living on my own, I only have a cat, so I am 100% responsible for all of her needs.

“Vlad did a great job with my two dogs, Lily and Leo. He was prompt, courteous, and professional. It was my first time leaving my dogs alone and I was a little uncertain how they'd react, but everything went perfectly. Vlad even improvised a little bit - I hadn't anticipated rainy weather and he handled just fine, locating some towels in my garage and drying the dogs off. He stayed in communication with me with every walk. I would recommend him without reservation.”

“Morgan was awesome!! Communicated clearly, posted photos, and listened to/understood my specific requests with my pup’s personal needs. If you’re looking for someone that is reliable, responsible, and most importantly - trustworthy. You should reach out to Morgan!! Thank you again for taking care of Oakley while I was out of the country. I’ll absolutely be coming back again in the future!”

“We were fortunate to find Shannon. We have a somewhat special needs dog (Sandy) and didn’t think we could find an appropriate sitter. But Sandy quickly accepted Shannon and her two beautiful dogs, Lex and Captain Black. We were able to enjoy a worry free trip knowing Sandy was receiving excellent care. We highly recommend Shannon and will use her service in the future.”

“Tracy did a wonderful job watching my fur babies. I could tell that she gave them lots of love while I was out. She was very kind and sent me lots of great pictures during their stay! I would highly recommend! Thank you so much Tracy!”
