Their backyard is truly a pup's paradise—large enough to run and play with some shade to hang out in and even a water feature to splash around. They were really great about sending tons of pictures as updates and very patient and understanding with Frankie who was a little stressed at being left, so initially he wasn't eating his food—they coaxed him with some shredded chicken, and he came around by the end of the second day. We could tell our pups were getting TLC with the pics of them snuggled in Liz's lap or blankets while hanging out on the couch and bed. To top it all off, when we came to pick up our babies, Jill and Liz surprised us with a framed photo of each dog! It was such a sweet gesture. We highly recommend them and will definitely use them if we ever do another road trip to LA (if they were closer to SF, we'd re-book in a heartbeat!!) She is well versed in dog behavior. My dog, coincidentally a "pitbull type" is often categorized and judged as "vicious or aggressive" even before people meet her. I've had dog sitters on Rover decline to provide services simply because of her breed or her appearance. Shanna understands that Roxie is a dog: a dog with her own level of prey drive (so Roxie is not allowed in her daughter's room cause of the hamster she has); a dog with some anxiety who barked at her husband when he came into the house. They didn't freak out. Shanna understood Roxie's behavior and worked through it, allowing Roxie to get to know her husband, settle and move on. I truly appreciate her family's openness and acceptance. We have two more full days of daycare booked and if all continues well, we will book boarding services. Roxie is people and dog friendly, but the discrimination we have experienced on Rover, leads me to take things in a new daycare/boarding situation slowly. About: I am a Fear Free certified veterinary technician of 13 years who grew up in the show dog world (AKC) before getting into rescue as an adult. Throughout my long-lived animal career I have participated in puppy/kitten/basic obedience training, behavioral rehabilitation, dog sport training, senior care, care for animals with extreme medical needs, and owned/operated a group play doggie daycare. About: I began to offer pet-sitting to friends and family just for some dog breath and tail wags in my life after my dog passed away. A family member told me about Rover and - here I am! I know how important pets are to the families they love and how important it is to have peace of mind that they are in good hands while you're away. I will ensure that your fur baby has all that they need while they wait on their favorite human/s to come home. I've taken care of a dogs for most of my life. My childhood dog was one of my best friends. We would play together for hours and I was responsible to feed, bathe, and clean up after him. He loved belly rubs and going with us on family walks. When the neighbor's dogs broke through the fence and attacked him, I was the one who flushed and cleaned his wounds, changed his bandages, and nursed him back to health after he came home from the vet. He became diabetic when he grew old and I gave him his insulin shots. I also had an outdoor cat, and pet sat for a neighbor who had an iguana, fish, water turtles, and cockatiels. As an adult, I adopted a pit-mix rescue and we enjoyed obedience training, going to the dog park, car rides for a pup cup, going for walks, and playing tug-of-war. Last year, he was diagnosed with an oral tumor and he needed lots of extra care during his last months. He needed medication 3 times a day, a specialized diet when it became difficult for him to eat kibble, and eventually hand-feeding for him to be able to eat at all. He passed away 14 years old. I wouldn't trade one minute. I'm currently working part-time in the morning and would love to spend my afternoons with animals. If you need someone to care for your pet mid-day, we're the perfect match. I provide care where your pet feels safest - in their own home environment. Please leave me detailed instructions so I know where to find their food and food bowl, leash, toys, medications, etc. If you have spacial boundaries for your pet such as not being allowed on the couch or bed, in specific rooms, or if they are outside-dog only, etc., please let me know so I can respect and enforce those boundaries.
About: I have a lot of experience taking care of pets. In my country I was a veterinary assistant and animal care volunteer. Be part of animal rescue foundations I have from 8 am to 11 am to attend to pets after prior coordination. It is also possible during the weekends and holidays if necessary It is important to exercise pets daily with a walk so they can stay happy and avoid stress. About: I current have a dachshund mix puppy, Milky Way. I previously had a terrier mix rescue named, Rolo. I have also owned bunnies, birds, and turtles. I have walked husky’s, german sherphards, yorkie, pitt bulls, Rottweilers, terriers, and retrievers. I love dogs I wish I could be surrounded by dogs all the time. I’m good at adjusting my schedule to match the pet’s routine, whether that means early morning walks or evening drop-ins. On a weekly level, I plan ahead so I can make sure I’m available for longer care periods like overnights or multiple visits per day. I’m also comfortable being consistent with routines like medication schedules, exercise, and keeping the pet’s environment clean and safe. Overall, I treat pet care like a real responsibility, not something I “fit in” when convenient I structure my time around it to make sure the pet stays comfortable and cared for. In a client’s home, I focus on keeping the pet’s routine as normal and stress free as possible. I follow the instructions exactly as provided feeding schedule, portion sizes, walk times, medication (if any), and any specific behavior or care notes about the pet. For daily care, I make sure the pet gets attention, exercise, and interaction, not just basic needs. That can include walks, playtime, accidents if needed, refreshing water, and making sure the home is kept tidy and secure while I’m there. I’m also careful about safety double checking doors, gates, leashes, and making sure pets don’t get into anything they shouldn’t. I pay attention to how the pet is acting so I can notice any changes in mood, appetite, or behavior and communicate that right away if something seems off. I don’t just “stop by and do tasks” I treat it like I’m temporarily responsible for the pet’s wellbeing and comfort, and I make sure they feel calm and cared for while their owner is away.
About: I am a teacher with extra time to help with any pet sitting - last minute or planned ahead! I am willing to travel to others homes to feed your pets, take them on walks, give them baths or whatever is needed! Over the summer I will have many weekdays and weekends completely open for pet sitting jobs. Beginning mid August, I teach full time in an elementary school 8-3:30. “Jill and Liz are fantastic! We were driving from SF to LA for a long weekend and wanted to give our 2 chihuahua mixed pups a little vacation of their own—Jill and Liz's home was just the ticket! Their backyard is truly a pup's paradise—large enough to run and play with some shade to hang out in and even a water feature to splash around. They were really great about sending tons of pictures as updates and very patient and understanding with Frankie who was a little stressed at being left, so initially he wasn't eating his food—they coaxed him with some shredded chicken, and he came around by the end of the second day. We could tell our pups were getting TLC with the pics of them snuggled in Liz's lap or blankets while hanging out on the couch and bed. To top it all off, when we came to pick up our babies, Jill and Liz surprised us with a framed photo of each dog! It was such a sweet gesture. We highly recommend them and will definitely use them if we ever do another road trip to LA (if they were closer to SF, we'd re-book in a heartbeat!!)
