“Rocky can be a picky dog, with humans and dogs. When I dropped him off for daycare I was so nervous that he wouldn’t play nice and would wreak havoc. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I picked him up and they said he did great. By the time we got home, he was snoring away. Jill and Liz did great with Rocky and he will definitely be back! Big plus for sending me a photo after about 30 minutes assuring me he was fine :)”

“Shanna is great. She has been patient and collaborative in planning for my Roxie's care. We had a meet and greet, then a short daycare stay, then a full day of daycare. She is well versed in dog behavior. My dog, coincidentally a "pitbull type" is often categorized and judged as "vicious or aggressive" even before people meet her. I've had dog sitters on Rover decline to provide services simply because of her breed or her appearance. Shanna understands that Roxie is a dog: a dog with her own level of prey drive (so Roxie is not allowed in her daughter's room cause of the hamster she has); a dog with some anxiety who barked at her husband when he came into the house. They didn't freak out. Shanna understood Roxie's behavior and worked through it, allowing Roxie to get to know her husband, settle and move on. I truly appreciate her family's openness and acceptance. We have two more full days of daycare booked and if all continues well, we will book boarding services. Roxie is people and dog friendly, but the discrimination we have experienced on Rover, leads me to take things in a new daycare/boarding situation slowly. Shanna has been very reassuring and understanding. throughout the process. I HIGHLY recommend her.”

About: I am a Fear Free certified veterinary technician of 13 years who grew up in the show dog world (AKC) before getting into rescue as an adult. Throughout my long-lived animal career I have participated in puppy/kitten/basic obedience training, behavioral rehabilitation, dog sport training, senior care, care for animals with extreme medical needs, and owned/operated a group play doggie daycare. In my home, I occasionally use a crate for my german shepherd, most of the time he is loose. He’s gotten accustomed to sleeping on my bed or my parent’s bedroom and we feed him early in the morning. Following his morning meal is a long walk. We make sure he’s well groomed with daily brushing and a wash once a week. Levi has allergies so we make sure to always apply topical remedies and purchase a high quality kind of dog food.
