I’m married to my wonderful husband of 14 years, who proudly serves on active duty in the military. Safety comes first I make sure the surroundings are secure, free from hazards, and suited to the animal’s size, temperament, and habits. This can mean checking fences, removing toxic plants or objects, and ensuring they have access to clean water and a comfortable resting area. Building trust is just as important! Animals feel more at ease when they know what to expect, so keeping a calm tone, moving gently, and following consistent routines helps them feel secure around you. Taking time to observe their body language and respecting their boundaries shows them that you’re someone they can rely on. Trust grows when an animal feels heard and never forced.
