“We waren best gespannen om ons hondje Blizzard voor het eerst bij een onbekende achter te laten, maar vanaf het eerste contact met Shaima hadden we meteen een goed gevoel. Ze was ontzettend warm en liefdevol, en haar ervaring met honden straalde er vanaf. Dat stelde ons enorm gerust. Tijdens het verblijf hield Shaima ons dagelijks op de hoogte met lieve berichtjes, updates en leuke foto’s. Ze nam echt de tijd om ons mee te nemen in hoe het met Blizzard ging, wat we als heel prettig hebben ervaren. Ze stelde gerust vragen wanneer dat nodig was, wat haar zorgzaamheid en betrokkenheid alleen maar bevestigde. Wat we ook enorm waardeerden: Shaima merkte dat Blizzard soms wat vaker naar buiten moest omdat hij het niet altijd even goed kon ophouden. Ze heeft zich daar meteen op aangepast en is meerdere keren korte wandelmomentjes met hem gegaan. Zo lief, ze keek echt naar wat hij nodig had. En het allerbelangrijkste: Blizzard had het zó naar zijn zin, dat we bij het ophalen bijna het gevoel kregen dat hij liever nog even bij Shaima bleef. Op de foto’s en video’s zagen we ook hoe blij en ontspannen hij was, en hoe liefdevol zij met hem omging. Wij komen zéker terug bij Shaima. Het was voor ons (en voor Blizzard!) echt een ontzettend fijne en warme ervaring. We raden haar met alle vertrouwen aan!”

We wonen direct naast een bos en dus is een mooie wandeling snel van start. Met twee schoolgaande kinderen is er door altijd iemand bij ons thuis. Still, everyday I stay active by going on a walk in Amsterdamse bos, going to the gym or biking. I love to cook and to relax with my boyfriend at home (he is also crazy about dogs!) I live in an apartment of roughly 95 m2, with a big living room and a large balcony (with a serious fence). We keep it clean with fresh air flowing. We live 3 minutes walking from the Amsterdamse Bos, it’s a national treasure and a dog heaven! My boyfriend and I live together have the same philosophy: nobody has died from a dog on the couch. But the of course, if your dog is not used to being on furniture, we will respect his/her boundaries ;) I will be as strict or relaxed as the dog needs me to be, I am a flexible dog sitter.

Over: In my opinion, looking after dogs it's a great responsibility because who owner of a dog I know that it is very important for the family. About their care, dogs are all different, like people, and each one has their own way of communicating and feeling trustworthy. I like to respect the dog's time to feel comfortable with me to have a friendly relationship and make them feel safe. I have a flexible hours because I work by project, so if we arrange a day before, I can adapt my schedule. Also I don't have any problem to look after them a workable day as well as a weekend. First at all, I would ask the owner if the dog had special treatment for health or behavior. Second, I would ask what type of game it usually plays and I would adapt to its way of playing. Third, what are its times for eating or going for a walk.

For cats, the studio itself is calm and quiet, which makes it an easy space to settle into.

Over: I grew up with pets (dogs and rodents) and have taken care of pets practically my whole life. 5 years ago, I took a wonderful boy called Charlie home from the shelter (you can see him in all of my pictures). He was already a bit older, and I was lucky to have him by my side for 4.5 years until he sadly passed away last October. I have a big heart for animals, and therefore miss taking care of a hairy friend! I have experience with taking care of both small and larger dogs, as well as senior dogs and dogs with medical needs. I recently started a PhD and am therefore not home during work days (mo-fr). When taking care of a dog I adjust my routine to meet the needs of the dog. I try to suit the needs of the animal and respect their boundaries. If they prefer to be lazy or alone, I give them space, if they prefer interaction and play, I give them attention. I feed them and walk them as agreed with the owner.

Over: Je suis actuellement entre deux emplois, et j'ai beaucoup de temps libre pour m'occuper de vos animaux ! Selon votre demande, je peux essayer de m'adapter pour correspondre a vos horaires. Je suis assez flexible. Je vis dans une maison de 110m2 avec 2 étages supérieurs, qui offre des multitudes de d'options et de recoins pour se reposer. Il y a un jardin d'environ 40m2 avec de l'herbe, cloturé donc les chiens ne peuvent pas en sortir. (Si vous préferez que je garde votre animal a l'intérieur c'est aussi possible). J'ai un couffin pour animaux, une fontaine a eau et un distributeur de croquette. Juste derriere chez moi, il y a un tres grand parc arboré sans voitures, et un acces a une plage pour chien a 10/15 minutes a pied. Notez que nous vivons avec un chat de 16 ans (ok chiens et chats) ainsi que d'un enfant de 3 ans (ok chiens et chats).

I can administer medication to pets, whether mixed in food or given directly in the mouth, ears, eyes, or via injection. I’m comfortable doing injections after we’ve done it together once, so I can see how your pet responds.
I also offer bathing and brushing services. If hosting, your pet will never be left alone for more than 3 hours. I currently work from home and can easily integrate pet care into my daily routine. If that changes and I’m not able to commit, I’ll be transparent and decline the booking. For dog walks, I take a maximum of two dogs per walk, but only after meeting them individually and assessing how they behave around other dogs.
Each walk lasts 30 minutes (tho I always tend to do more if we are enjoying and I have the time), though I’m happy to adjust for shorter or longer walks depending on your pet’s needs. When it comes to boarding, I only host one dog at a time in my home to ensure personalized care. They will not be left alone for more than 3 hrs.

Unfortunately, Rover does not offer an exact option for this, but in practice I am generally available between 10 AM and 5 PM to look after your dog at home or take your dog out for walks. I am also exploring the possibility of starting a part-time remote job later this summer for around 16 hours per week. The type of work I am looking at would be fully home-based, flexible, and low-pressure, without meetings or appointments that would require me to leave the house. Because of that, I would still have more than enough time, attention, and flexibility to properly care for dogs throughout the day. The dog’s wellbeing, attention, and routine would always remain my main priority while I am looking after them. Weekends can be a bit more difficult for me, although I may still be available depending on the situation, so you are always welcome to send me a message to check availability I currently live in an apartment complex and do not have a private garden, which means fulltime dog boarding at my home can be a bit more limited depending on the dog and the situation. However, if your dog only needs to stay somewhere for a few hours for example, to bridge part of the day rather than staying an entire day or overnight that is absolutely possible at my place. My apartment is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a dog for shorter periods of time. I already do this regularly with one of my parents’ dogs to help them out from time to time, so I am experienced in having dogs stay with me in a calm and comfortable environment. Of course, this is always coordinated properly, which means that if I am caring for your dog, there will not unexpectedly be another dog present unless discussed beforehand. I also genuinely enjoy being outdoors and spending active, quality time with dogs. With my own family dogs, I love doing simple things like playing with a tennis ball or a toy, practicing little tricks, going for walks, relaxing outside together, cuddling, and giving them attention. For me, it is really the small moments and connection with a dog that make it enjoyable, and spending time with dogs genuinely gives me a lot of energy and happiness. One important thing to mention is that Rover sometimes requires me to select fixed availability options that do not fully reflect how flexible I actually am. Because of that, it is possible that I may not always appear in certain search results. In reality, my availability is often much more flexible and depends a bit on the specific day and situation. Starting with my first dog which was an energetic King Charles spaniel to my now two dogs, one a very hyper Labrador and the other a very high energy golden retriever, Australian shepherd cross. Over: Mijn liefde voor dieren is er al zo lang ik me kan herinneren. Ik ben opgegroeid met de goedzak Lester, een zwarte labrador en later kwam daar een vrolijke adoptiehond, Puca, uit Spanje bij. Zelf heb ik nu geen hond, maar ik vind het heerlijk om voor die van een ander te zorgen. Zelfs op mijn werk weten collega’s inmiddels: moet er een hond ergens heen, dan bel je mij. In mijn HR-profiel heb ik dat stiekem ook een beetje als ‘specialisatie’ benoemd. Ik verzorg dieren met veel liefde, geduld en aandacht. Elk beestje is uniek en ik pas me daar met plezier en liefde op aan. De gezelligheid die dieren met zich meebrengen, is voor mij echt goud waard. Met mijn ex-partner had ik een vakantiehuisje in Denia, Spanje. Elke keer als ik daar was, maakte ik een ritje naar het plaatselijke asiel om een hond uit te laten en wat extra liefde te geven, dat werd al snel een vast ritueeltje. Thuis heb ik geen hond, maar wel een ontzettend lieve Noorse Boskat van 10, Marley. Door privéomstandigheden woont ze nu tijdelijk bij mijn moeder, maar ik zoek haar nog vaak op. Ze komt me altijd vrolijk begroeten als ik binnenkom, zit op commando en apporteert haarelastiekjes. Ze geeft me een beetje het gevoel dat ik tóch een hondje heb, op haar eigen unieke manier. Op social media zie ik vaak filmpjes van mensen die dieren (in nood) tegenkomen en redden. Hoe triest sommige verhalen ook zijn, diep vanbinnen hoop ik stiekem dat ik ooit zelf in zo’n situatie kom, zodat ik kan helpen. Mocht ik ooit de loterij winnen (of het gewoon zelf bij elkaar weet te sparen), dan wil ik op een (stads)boerderij wonen en daar dieren opvangen die een veilige plek nodig hebben. Op maandag en woensdag ben ik de hele dag beschikbaar om huisdieren te verzorgen, zowel bij mij thuis als bij het baasje. Ook in het weekend maak ik hier graag tijd voor, met veel aandacht voor veiligheid en vertrouwen. Ik zorg altijd met veel aandacht en geduld voor huisdieren, of dat nu bij mij thuis is of bij het baasje. Een vertrouwde en veilige omgeving staat voorop: ik neem de tijd om het dier rustig te laten wennen en houd goed rekening met hun gewoontes, voeding en beweging. Ook volg ik nauwkeurig de instructies van het baasje op, zodat het dier zich zo comfortabel mogelijk voelt.

“We waren best gespannen om ons hondje Blizzard voor het eerst bij een onbekende achter te laten, maar vanaf het eerste contact met Shaima hadden we meteen een goed gevoel. Ze was ontzettend warm en liefdevol, en haar ervaring met honden straalde er vanaf. Dat stelde ons enorm gerust. Tijdens het verblijf hield Shaima ons dagelijks op de hoogte met lieve berichtjes, updates en leuke foto’s. Ze nam echt de tijd om ons mee te nemen in hoe het met Blizzard ging, wat we als heel prettig hebben ervaren. Ze stelde gerust vragen wanneer dat nodig was, wat haar zorgzaamheid en betrokkenheid alleen maar bevestigde. Wat we ook enorm waardeerden: Shaima merkte dat Blizzard soms wat vaker naar buiten moest omdat hij het niet altijd even goed kon ophouden. Ze heeft zich daar meteen op aangepast en is meerdere keren korte wandelmomentjes met hem gegaan. Zo lief, ze keek echt naar wat hij nodig had. En het allerbelangrijkste: Blizzard had het zó naar zijn zin, dat we bij het ophalen bijna het gevoel kregen dat hij liever nog even bij Shaima bleef. Op de foto’s en video’s zagen we ook hoe blij en ontspannen hij was, en hoe liefdevol zij met hem omging. Wij komen zéker terug bij Shaima. Het was voor ons (en voor Blizzard!) echt een ontzettend fijne en warme ervaring. We raden haar met alle vertrouwen aan!”

I’m fluent in English, Dutch and Swedish (I can teach your dog some ;) ) Ever since I can remember I’ve been a big fan of dogs. I’ve had dogs around me my whole life, I grew up with a Golden Retriever and a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and have in my later teens helped raised two Kangals. I have a lot of understanding and respect for dogs, both big and small. Lately I’m sitting my brothers Cane Corso Enzo, he is a puppy who needs a lot of training, and I’m up for the challenge! Apart from my experience and love for animals, I am an active person who walks a lot, I love being in nature and I would say I have a lot of patience. Whether it’s an older dog who needs a slower pace, or an active dog who needs a long power walk, I’m up for it! Since I am a student at the UvA, some mornings and afternoons are blocked out, but also some days are totally free for me. I’ll be honest and say that my schedule might change every 2 months with new courses, but mostly I am busy 3 days of the week. Still, everyday I stay active by going on a walk in Amsterdamse bos, going to the gym or biking. I love to cook and to relax with my boyfriend at home (he is also crazy about dogs!) I live in an apartment of roughly 95 m2, with a big living room and a large balcony (with a serious fence). We keep it clean with fresh air flowing. We live 3 minutes walking from the Amsterdamse Bos, it’s a national treasure and a dog heaven! My boyfriend and I live together have the same philosophy: nobody has died from a dog on the couch. Over: In my opinion, looking after dogs it's a great responsibility because who owner of a dog I know that it is very important for the family. About their care, dogs are all different, like people, and each one has their own way of communicating and feeling trustworthy. I like to respect the dog's time to feel comfortable with me to have a friendly relationship and make them feel safe. I have a flexible hours because I work by project, so if we arrange a day before, I can adapt my schedule. Also I don't have any problem to look after them a workable day as well as a weekend. First at all, I would ask the owner if the dog had special treatment for health or behavior. Second, I would ask what type of game it usually plays and I would adapt to its way of playing. Third, what are its times for eating or going for a walk.

They were both nervous, but both Agata and her boyfriend did an amazing job to let them feel comfortable. Over: Ik ben Niels en ik vindt honden gewoon leuk;) en doe dit als bijbaantje voor de lol. Een beetje wandelen, skateboarden of fietsen met de honden doe ik met plezier en dat probeer ik over te brengen op de honden. Ik heb eerlijk gezegd niet enorm veel ervaring met veel verschillende honden. Ik heb wel een aantal keer op verschillende honden van vrienden opgepast. Dus als je een hond met gedragsproblematiek hebt, dan ben je bij mij waarschijnlijk niet aan het juiste adres. Overnachtingen of een hele dag met uw hond doe ik liever ook pas nadat ik hem een keer heb uitgelaten en als we beide weten dat het tussen ons klikt!:) Daarnaast heb ik geen bench dus die zou je zelf moeten brengen bij een overnachting. Ik hoor graag van je als je me toevertrouwd met je trouwe viervoeter!:) ----- I am Niels and I just like dogs ;) I do this as a side job for fun. I enjoy walking, skateboarding, or cycling with the dogs, and I try to convey that to them. To be honest, I don't have a huge amount of experience with many different dogs. I have looked after various dogs belonging to friends I've looked after a few times, though. If you have a dog with behavioral issues, its probably not a good fit. I also prefer to only do full-day overnight stays with your dog after I've taken him out for a walk once and when we both know we click! :) On top of this i don't have my own bench, so that would be something which you should bring with you in case of a sleepover. I look forward to hearing from you when you entrust me with your faithful four-legged friend! :) Mijn dagelijkse routine is niet heel standaard dus dat hangt af van de dag. Ik zal het verzoek alleen accepteren als het wel past natuurlijk. Veel in het park lopen en leuke dingen doen. Daarnaast kan de hond in mijn appartement ook relaxen in een bench wanneer je die meegeeft.
