Unfortunately, I wasn't very happy with the service. We had a meet and greet beforehand and I specifically explained that Sammy must only be walked using his harness and main lead, as he can slip his collar and is very difficult to catch if he gets loose. Despite this, during the first visit I received a photo showing him being walked on a slip lead, which I had specifically said I did not want used. When I raised this, I was initially told that the slip lead was the better option. I had to reiterate that I know my dog and that I was not comfortable with him being walked that way before the harness was used. I was also disappointed with the communication during the second visit. I didn't receive an update afterwards, so I had no confirmation of whether Sammy had been fed or had been taken to the toilet. From checking my camera afterwards, I could see that Sammy was put on the long outside lead that I normally use for him during the summer in the daytime, so that he can wander in and out and enjoy lying outside in the garden. However, this was a late-evening visit rather than during the daytime, and I normally take Sammy over to the grass and hedgerow so that he can properly toilet. I couldn't see any indication that this was done, so I have no way of knowing whether he actually went to the toilet during the visit. Sammy spent a lot of the visit outside, which in itself isn't an issue as he loves being outside, but when he wandered back indoors looking for some attention, there were occasions where he was simply ignored. Overall, I was left feeling that my instructions weren't really listened to and that the sitter relied on his own judgement rather than following the information I had given him about my dog. For me, that is particularly concerning when it involves Sammy's safety. I booked the drop-ins because I needed to feel confident that Sammy was being properly looked after while I was away, and unfortunately I didn't have that confidence after these visits.

Our experience with Ross has been really good. From the moment we met, he was really keen on getting to know Benji and building a bond and training relationship with him. This was our first time leaving Benji with someone else, and we were quite anxious about this, but Ross made it easy for us to trust him. While we were away, Ross took the time to train him to walk better on a short lead, whilst also working with him on his recall on longer walks. We really liked Ross' initiative to train Benji, and it is clear he is very passionate about dog training and dog sitting. We also specifically asked that Benji wouldn't go in any car travel, as we're currently re-training him on this (he currently has a car phobia), and Ross accommodated to this, he stayed in the local area, and organised activities so he could take Benji with him by walking, such as going to the pub for lunch or going on longer walks with other friends. Overall, very good experience and will definitely count with Ross to take care of Benji in the future.
