Experienced Bunny Sitter

**PLEASE REGISTER YOUR BUNNIES AS CATS WHEN SUBMITTING A REQUEST** Hi! My name is Nery, and I specialize in caring for rabbits. I am the Executive Director of Houston Rabbit Resource, a local nonprofit rabbit rescue, and I have more than eight years of hands-on experience with rabbit care, rescue, fostering, behavior, medical support, and education. I also share my home with free-roaming rabbits of my own, so I understand how stressful it can be to find someone who truly understands their needs. Rabbits are not small, easy pets. Their routines, eating habits, litter box activity, behavior, and even the size and appearance of their poops can tell us important things about how they are feeling. My goal is to give rabbit families peace of mind knowing their buns are being cared for by someone who understands what to watch for. Rabbit House Sitting Some rabbits are happiest staying in their own familiar environment. House sitting allows your rabbits to remain at home while receiving more time and attention than a standard drop-in visit. Depending on my schedule and your rabbit’s needs, I may be able to stay for an extended visit to provide meals, litter box care, enrichment, companionship, medication, and plenty of time to observe their appetite and behavior. ### Rabbit Drop-In Visits Drop-ins are ideal for families traveling or working long hours who need someone to: * Refresh hay and water * Serve pellets, greens, or other scheduled meals * Clean or change litter boxes * Provide exercise, enrichment, and attention * Administer prescribed medication * Monitor eating, drinking, behavior, and litter box output * Send photo updates and let you know how your rabbit is doing Visits can generally be scheduled for 30 minutes or one hour, depending on your rabbit’s care needs. Drop-in services may also be available for cats and dogs. Post-Operative and Supportive Care Rabbits recovering from a spay, neuter, dental procedure, or other veterinary treatment may need closer observation and medication at specific times. I can assist with medication administration, meal support, litter box monitoring, and general post-operative care based on written instructions from your veterinarian. Because rabbits can decline quickly, I will contact you immediately if I notice concerning changes in appetite, behavior, or stool production. Rabbit Boarding Boarding is available for rabbits only. Guest rabbits are provided with a secure indoor living area, room to stretch and move around, enrichment, toys, and individualized care. They are kept safely separated from resident rabbits and other animals. Before their stay, I will ask about their normal schedule, diet, personality, litter box habits, medical history, and favorite routines so I can make their visit as comfortable and familiar as possible. My Rabbit Care Experience Includes * Rabbit handling and behavior * Nail trimming * Brushing and grooming * Scent gland checks * Administering oral and topical medications * Post-operative monitoring * Basic rabbit first aid * Rabbit-safe diets and nutrition * Recognizing early signs of GI slowdown or illness * Litter box care and monitoring * Enrichment and exercise * Caring for shy, fearful, senior, and special-needs rabbits * Supporting bonded pairs and groups Before confirming a first-time booking, I prefer to schedule a meet and greet. This gives us time to discuss your rabbit’s routine, personality, setup, diet, medical needs, emergency contacts, and anything else I should know. It also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and make sure you feel completely comfortable with their care. I currently work part time and help operate a local rabbit rescue and resource center, so my availability varies. I accept bookings based on my schedule, the type of service requested, and the level of care your rabbit needs.

Schedule

Pet care is already a major part of my daily routine. I work part time Monday through Thursday and also help operate a local rabbit rescue and resource center, so I am accustomed to planning my days around feeding schedules, medications, cleaning, wellness checks, and other animal care needs. My boyfriend is also very experienced with rabbits and works from home in the same room where our boarding guests stay. This means the rabbits have someone nearby for most of the day who can keep an eye on their behavior, appetite, comfort, and activity while still giving them space to relax. I remain responsible for their care and make sure meals, cleaning, medications, enrichment, and wellness checks stay on schedule. My schedule also gives me flexibility for morning and evening drop-ins, extended visits, and boarding care throughout the week. Availability may vary depending on my work, rescue responsibilities, and current bookings, so I recommend reaching out early, especially for holidays or rabbits who need medication or more involved care.

Safety, trust & environment

For boarding in my home, rabbits stay indoors in a secure, rabbit-safe area with plenty of room to move, rest, and play. Guest rabbits are always kept completely separate from my resident rabbits and other animals. I follow each rabbit’s normal feeding schedule as closely as possible and monitor their appetite, water intake, behavior, and litter box output throughout their stay. Their space is cleaned regularly, and they receive enrichment, toys, attention, and supervised exercise time based on their personality and comfort level. For drop-in visits or house sitting, I follow the care instructions provided by the family and try to keep each pet’s routine as familiar as possible. For rabbits, this includes refreshing hay and water, serving meals, cleaning litter boxes, providing enrichment, administering prescribed medications when needed, and checking that they are eating and producing normal stool. I take rabbit health changes seriously because rabbits can become ill very quickly. If I notice reduced appetite, unusual behavior, abnormal stool production, or another concern, I will contact the family immediately and follow their emergency veterinary instructions. Before a first booking, I prefer to schedule a meet and greet so I can learn about each pet’s routine, personality, setup, medical needs, emergency contacts, and any special care instructions.

Pets

A typical day

A typical day is built around each pet’s normal routine, personality, and comfort level. For rabbits, I start by refreshing their hay and water, serving their scheduled meals, and checking their litter box to make sure they are eating and producing normal stool. Boarding rabbits stay in a spacious, secure pen where they have plenty of room to stretch out, hop around, play, and relax. Activities may include tunnels, cardboard toys, treat puzzles, forage activities, digging boxes, and other rabbit-safe enrichment. Some rabbits love attention and pets, while others prefer having a calm person nearby, so I always let them set the pace. Throughout the day, I monitor their appetite, behavior, water intake, and litter box habits. I also clean their space, refresh their enrichment, administer any scheduled medications, and send photo updates so their family can see how they are doing.

Cats
Nereyda can host up to 4 pets per night
Before a booking, I need to know your pet’s normal routine, personality, diet, medical history, and any special care needs. For rabbits, this includes their usual feeding schedule, preferred greens and pellets, litter box habits, housing setup, medications, mobility concerns, and how comfortable they are with handling. Please let me know about any recent changes in appetite, stool production, behavior, or health, as well as any history of GI stasis, dental issues, seizures, respiratory problems, or other ongoing conditions. I also need your regular veterinarian’s information, an emergency veterinary contact, and clear instructions about what you would like me to do if your pet becomes ill. It is also helpful to know what your pet enjoys, what makes them nervous, how they communicate discomfort, and whether they are shy, territorial, prone to chewing or escaping, or sensitive to noises and unfamiliar people. The more I know ahead of time, the better I can keep their routine familiar and make them feel safe and comfortable.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
