I need to know that they are up to date on vaccinations, do not have any contagious illness, and that they are flea free. I need to know a starting time for care to begin, and ending time to confirm any booking. For any services early in the morning before 8 am there will be an extra $15 charge. I can create a custom drop in stay for doggy daycare in your own home with enough advance notice to arrange my schedule accordingly. Pricing for that starts at $39 and up, and I need to be able to park for free or having parking cost covered. Boarding cost covers a 24 hour period so if the stay exceeds that there will be extra charges for the time that surpasses the 24 hours. I offer a discounted rate for a second dog from the same home. Please note that there are holiday periods where the rates are a little higher.
A typical day
I like to do 4-5 short walks in the neighborhood each day. I like to do one long walk (about 30 to 45 minutes long) a few days a week and the rest of our walks are about 15 minutes long. I want every dog in my care to be happy so I would only take them on a longer walk if they are active and into that.

I am the biggest animal lover you will ever meet! I am responsible, HIGHLY experienced, loving, and trustworthy. Every dog I take care of I treat with utmost love and care as if they are my own fur baby. I am Vegan for the animals. In addition to the many dogs I have taken care of through Rover, I am also a dog rescuer. I have volunteered as a foster Mom for 67 different small sized rescue dogs, so far. I have experience in a wide range of temperments, behavior, post-surgery dogs, giving oral medications, etc. If you have a second animal in addition to your dog I'm also open to caring for them at the same time as taking care of your dog. I can care for cats, hamsters, fish, lizards, etc- if that care is needed and clear care instructions are provided. I specialize in the loving care of smaller dogs, 25 lbs and under. I can consider a higher weight range if your dog walks well on leash and doesn't have reactivity issues. I have had personal injury and I need to be selective of my clients I can take on to preserve my own well being, safety, and longevity. I love taking care of dogs and I do Rover because I am so passionate about this work. I worked for 3 years at Aqua Paws dog Wellness Center in East Van. I worked for one year in the doggy daycare with breeds of all sizes. Then I worked for 2 years under vet supervision as a rehab specialist. I was dog massage therapist, Reiki energy healing practitioner, used accupressure, and cold laser therapy for my clients there. I also oversaw underwater treadmill sessions for fit/athletic dog exercise, senior maintenance, and as a tool in rehab therapy. I also did land based exercise and rehab sessions with dogs using equipment. I love to provide a safe and loving space for dogs! My approach is to give a lot of affection: cuddles, talking to the dogs, treats, praise, and making every dog feel comfortable and loved. I make sure that dogs I take care of go on regular small walks/potty breaks per day. I love to cuddle on the couch with my fur friends. My own dogs sleep snuggled up with me in my own bed at home. If your pup prefers having their own space and wants to sleep on their own dog bed, that's ok too. I want every fur baby I take care of to be comfortable. I view each dog as a member of my family and they are all treated with love and respect.

Melissa is absolutely amazing with our dog. I’m such a nervous traveller to begin with but knowing that she will be taking care of our fur baby while we are gone puts me at so much ease. She is truly fantastic and our dog’s new BFF.
Amazing experience!
Melissa was a great fit for Miles as she understood his needs as a rescue dog right away. I could see Miles was immediately drawn to her. We could also tell that Chilli was well-cared for and given a lot of love. We know our cat, he is needy and loves to be snuggled and gets depressed if we are not around. Although he did miss us, he was a happy cat overall. Melissa also left our place clean and tidy. Overall, it was a great fit and we will definitely use her again. Thank you Melissa.
Melissa took such great care of Tylo! I'm always a little worried about leaving him with someone else when I travel, especially now that he's almost 16 years old with medical requirements, but Melissa sent frequent updates throughout the trip which made me feel much better. She was so wonderful with Tylo and he seemed so happy while I was away! You can tell she really really loves dogs - highly recommended!
