Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine since graduating high school. I structure my schedule around consistent feeding times, potty breaks, exercise, and enrichment to ensure pets feel secure and cared for. Walks, play sessions, and basic training reinforcement are built into my day, along with regular check-ins and updates for pet parents.

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize maintaining their normal routine to minimize stress and keep them comfortable. I follow all feeding schedules, medication instructions, walk routines, and household guidelines exactly as provided. Consistency is key to helping pets feel secure while their owners are away. Communication is important to me also, so I provide regular updates with photos and notes to give pet parents peace of mind. My goal is for both the pets and their owners to feel completely comfortable and confident while they’re apart.

A typical day

I love tailoring activities to each pet’s personality and energy level! For active dogs, that might include structured walks, play sessions, fetch, tug, scent games, or light training exercises to keep their minds engaged. I enjoy incorporating basic obedience refreshers and enrichment activities that build confidence while making learning fun. For more relaxed pets, I focus on calm companionship, gentle play, puzzle toys, and plenty of affection. If they enjoy the outdoors, we’ll spend safe, supervised time exploring. If they’re more low-key, we’ll keep things cozy and stress-free. My goal is always to provide both physical exercise and mental stimulation so pets feel happy, fulfilled, and well cared for while you’re away.

Pet care experience

I don’t just supervise — I engage. I reinforce potty training, crate routines, and basic manners for puppies, and I provide patient, detail-oriented support for seniors, including medication and mobility needs. I tailor my care to each pet’s personality and energy level so they feel secure and understood. My goal is simple: your pet is happy and well cared for, and you have total peace of mind while you’re away.

Most definitely would recommend Megan Atkins for your doggie needs; Megan has worked with our 3 dogs for a couple of years now and has even helped with some dog reactivity issues that one of our dogs had. All 3 of them love her and that says alot because one of our dogs doesn't like very many people. We give Megan a 10 out of 10.

Megan is an amazing and talented young lady! She has over a decade of experience with training dogs and is very attentive, yet patient with our fur babies! I highly recommend her to sit or walk your four legged family members because she never fails to disappoint me! Always clean, friendly, and professional!

Megan is wonderful with dogs and I would highly recommend her. She has cared for our family pets for several years when we go on vacation or when we have the VERY long workdays and need our pets to be cared for and/or walked. The dogs know as soon as they see Megan - it means fun time!!

Megan is A-MAZING and I would highly recommend her for caring for and/or walking your family's fur-baby! Megan has worked with dogs for years and it absolutely shows...if I could give 100 stars and recommendations I would. Megan is also Canine CPR certified and graduated from Hermitage Veterinary Technical Center before spending the past 10+ years working with our family fur baby. Looking for a good candidate? Well, look no further - Megan is the BEST!
