Hello! My name is Maika, and I'm 22 years old and originally from Sacramento CA. I've had a great love for dogs ever since I was a young child, and even spent a lot of time as a kid researching dog breeds and behavior. As a child my family owned a large German Shepherd named Suga who I used to spend all my free time with. As soon as I turned 16, I spent 2 years of volunteering at Bradshaw Animal Shelter walking shelter dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Soon after volunteering I began working at my local daycare/boarding/grooming facility. There I spent time watching up to 30 large breed dogs at once, or up to 60 small breed dogs in a pack. For the dogs that weren't a good fit for our pack environment (or: dog aggression, health issues, senior dogs) I would take them out for personal let outs. I've worked with many many breeds, I am comfortable handling all sizes of dogs, and I have a great understanding of dog behavior. I understand all dogs have their quirks and differences and need customized and personal routines and ways of interacting. In addition, I also have a lot of experience with young puppies 8 weeks old and up and a good knowledge of common puppy health issues and sicknesses. I can work with your puppy on basic leash and walking manners while still keeping the interaction fun and engaging. At the opposite end of the spectrum, I also have worked with working dogs and police K9s and understand high drive dogs and understand the differences when handling a dog with such strong genetic tendencies. In addition to various breeds and sizes of dog, I am also experienced in working with senior, deaf, blind, or other special needs dogs. I can administer topical, oral, and injection medications and am trained in pet CPR and First Aid. I can also work with dogs in wheelchairs and can adjust my care style to fit each dogs needs and personalities. Please contact me with any questions or concerns!
