I had the amazing chance of growing up with family dogs, and from a young age really understand what it means to care for, love and most importantly respect an animal. After moving out, it became rarer for me to spend time with dogs, which I really missed in my life, so I started looking after friends and family's pets from time to time, and volunteer at a kinderboerderij on the weekends. I love spending time outside, and with animals. :) My main experiences and skills come from growing up and involving myself in the training and caring for our dogs, from puppyhood to old age. Looking after my landlady's dog was another enriching experience for me. Her dog is a rescue, who came with quite some baggage. She is a very anxious and fearful dog. The first time hosting her, she was a bit distant, but with enough patience, calm, and a lot of research and practice exercises, I managed to have her accept me. The shock and pride on my landlady's face when she saw that her dog even let me pet her was priceless! This experience confirmed how much I like to learn about dog behavior, and help anxious pups gain in confidence, no matter how long it takes. I aspire to get a dog training certification, maybe when I get closer to retirement age, so that I can turn this passion into a full time activity! Overall, I am a calm person. I enjoy going on walks, and am an avid runner. So if you have a very energetic dog who likes to jog, I can bring him along on my runs!
