Welcome to The Chopperoni, a doggy homestay hotel located near Fishtown in Philly! ✨ Hello, dear humans and pupperonis! My name is Kira and I'm the head Chopperone at the Chopperoni, named so after my weiner boy Chopper. I'm a semi-retired programmer who works in app development and consulting. I work from home about 0-10 hours a week, which allows me to pursue pet-sitting as a full-time hobby! All profits go towards new toys, treats, and supplies. We welcome all pups under 20lbs, and here's a list of what you can expect from your baby's stay with us: • 3-4 daily walks (more if needed) • Dogs welcome on all furniture and sleep in bed with me • 10-20 photos PER DAY • Playtime tailored to your dog's preferences and energy level • Plenty of cuddles and affection for dogs who enjoy them • Respectful space for independent, shy, or low-contact dogs • Playmates for maximum socialization! There are 3 resident dogs and I host up to 3 boarders at a time. We are either napping, going for a walk, playing, or sleeping together 🤣🤣🤣 • Meet and Greets are required to ensure all dogs get along! As a devoted dog mom, I know how hard it can be to leave your babies in someone else's care. But I'm here to provide a safe, comfortable, and loving environment where both you and your pup can feel at ease. Thanks to being semi-retired, I'm pretty much around all day every day and can give the pups plenty of attention and companionship. They will enjoy 3–4 walks daily (or more if needed), along with dedicated playtime tailored to their individual personalities, energy levels, and preferences. All dogs are welcome on the furniture and are free to sleep in bed with me if they choose. Whether your pup loves to play, cuddle, explore, or simply relax, I'll do my best to make them feel right at home! I've had two rescue dogs of my own since 2021, both of whom I adopted when they were 5–6 years old. My experience with dog care goes back even further, helping care for a family member's senior dog and was heavily involved in their daily routine. I'm especially experienced with senior dogs, administering medications, basic grooming, and caring for pups who may be anxious, independent, mildly grumpy, or simply prefer having their own space respected. At the same time, I'm active and energetic enough to keep up with younger dogs and those young at heart. I'm happy to match their energy level and make sure they get the physical and mental stimulation they need.

Kira did a great job of looking after my dog. I wasn’t sure he would get along with her dogs, but we did a meetup with them first. I was very happy to see them all getting along so well together. Kira regularly provided me with photos and videos of my dog having fun with her dogs, which I greatly appreciated. The only thing I didn’t like/was surprised by was that she brought another, bigger dog to stay while he was there. My dog is often intimidated by and becomes aggressive around bigger dogs, so I was worried about this. My dog also began peeing (or “marking”, as she called it) in Kira’s house regularly, which he doesn’t usually do when he’s home with me. I don’t know if that coincided with the big dog arriving there. Kira began putting a band (kind of a diaper) around my dog to keep him from marking. I told her that I wasn’t happy about him wearing the band, and she removed it. I don’t know if there were any issues with him marking after that. Overall, I think Kira did a good job taking care of my dog.

My doggy Bash had a wonderful stay with Jhoana! He was very well taken care of!! Jhoana was extremely communicative; she always sent me pics, and in all of them Bash looked like he was having an absolute blast!! He had ample play time, potty breaks, he was well fed, and slept very comfortably. I knew he was in exceptional hands, and I know he cant wait to go back lol!

Schedule
I am home pretty much all the time! I have so much free time I can literally give the dogs my attention all day haha I only leave for 1-2 hours at a time to run my errands.

My two-story apartment has 3 friendly dogs (1 tiny, 1 small, 1 medium) and all dogs are allowed to roam freely. The basement where my bedroom is has a big living space that's perfect for playing. There's a grassy patch of land across the street where we take the dogs for potty breaks, and we usually take the dogs to Norris Square for their walks.

A typical day
I will play and run around with the dogs in my two-story apartment and take them to Norris Square for a long walk! If your dog needs mental stimulation, I'll be more than happy to tailor playtime to their needs as well.
