Flexible and Dependable Pet Friend!

*I do work from home and can work from your home. My schedule is very flexible!* Let’s face it, everyone on Rover loves animals (or else we wouldn't be here...right?) We all know how much our animals mean to us. They are our family; our soulmates and best friends for life. What happens when emergencies arise, or we want to use that PTO at work. Or, what happens if you just need help? I am here to help you and your fur babies! Although you may be nervous reaching out to others regarding your animals, rest assured, I understand. For my entire life, I had family and friends who would help me watch my dogs. I didn't have to rely on a stranger for anything. If I was going on vacation, I would call my mom for help. If I needed someone to do drop in visits if I stayed late at work, I would call my friend who lived down the road. Not until recently have I begun to reach out to others for help with my fur babies. Before I moved to Texas, I did my first cross country move 26 hours away from my hometown in Minnesota to Spring Hill Florida, where I knew absolutely no one and had no support. If it wasn't for Rover, I wouldn't have had any help with pet sitting. After meeting an incredible Rover sitter, I have decided to extend my assistance to anyone in need. I had such an incredible experience with my Rover sitter, and I hope I can give the same to others and their pets. My love for animals doesn't stop with just myself and my animals, it goes beyond to others and their animals. There has NEVER been a time where I didn't go above and beyond for an animal in need. At the end of 2022, I saw a little blue heeler on the euthanasia list in Texas. After 36 hours straight of pleading and making calls to rescues and fosters, I was able to arrange a short term foster for him; and then 2 weekends later I drove 16 hours one way to bring him home (keep in mind this was well before we made the move to Texas. At the time I knew no one in Texas. It was a challenge working from states away trying to coordinate a foster and a rescue!) He now has his own spot in our bed every night where he no longer has to worry about being abandoned. That following spring, I coordinated a foster/rescue of another blue heeler. I arranged transportation from Texas to Mississippi, and then I helped get him from Mississippi to Florida, where he eventually got adopted to a family in south Florida. I am very involved with rescue work, here in Florida and in Texas and Minnesota. It has been a lifelong passion of mine to help those in need (and not just animals as well.) In addition to my passion and sacrifice for animals, I have many years of experience with many different species of animals (farm animals, small and large breed animals, many different breeds of dogs and feline friends) I have professional training and animal handling experience. During my time in college, I worked at the local Petsmart and gained valuable training through their training internship. I have had an internship with my hometown large animal veterinarian and received training on medication and handling.

Safety, trust & environment

Earning trust is very important to me. Letting a dog become familiar with you is where I first start. Whether it be letting them come to you on their own terms, or playing with them, whatever they need to see that I'm not a threat, I provide. Keeping control of animals outside of their home is essential for safety and even trust. If the yard is not fenced in, a leash is always something I use. When inside, I make sure the pet feels at home and is comfortable. Trust and environment go hand in hand. If the dog is in a stressful and fearful environment, trust won't grow. The right environment is essential for the trust to sprout; and it is my duty to provide a safe environment right from the start with any animal.

Second time with Jasmine doing drop in visits with our cats. Cats are happy, we’re happy, she cleaned up a few messes from the cats. Will be glad to use Jasmine in the future.

We had Jasmine stay with our two boys for three days while my wife and I were away getting married. It was so great to have her here, we didn’t have to worry about a thing all weekend. She kept us updated on what was going on and sent us plenty of pictures. We would have her back to watch our boys again in a heartbeat! We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter!

Schedule

I am very fortunate to have work from home employment which in turn, allows me to have a very flexible schedule! I can take longer breaks, start and finish when it is best for me, and can work on weekends if needed. I can work from your home, which allows me to stay for longer visits. This has been verified with my employer before becoming a sitter; working from somewhere other than my own home will not be an issue.

I like to know a little bit about the animal before hand. Even if its just a general description. I like to know any quirks or medical concerns. Although I can know before hand a little bit about the animal, it isn't until I actually meet them that I can understand them. Now, I don't claim to be an animal whisperer, but after so many years of being around animals, you can really get a sense for their personalities. For instance, I could tell you how my animals would act if they were human: my Johnny Ringo would be the guy who would be hard to get to know. He would lash out and often come across as mean. But once you get to know him, he'd be your best friend. My Tucker is a gentleman, someone who would open the door for you or help an elderly person cross the road. My Spot (or sometimes we call him Speedy) would be a guy who really wasn't the smartest, but would be genuine and hard working. He'd be the guy anyone could trust. My pretty girl Luna.....she would be a typical pink nail, Jeep driving, Gucci bag girl. She is social, catty, and loves attention. All of them are very different. but they are all genuine and all quirky! So in all, yes it's important to know a little about the dog before hand, but until I actually meet them, I won't get to know the real them.
