Janelle and I are proud parents to our two beagles, Quarter and Nickel, and I’ve watched her care for them (and countless other animals) with a level of love and responsibility that amazes me. She has a deep, selfless commitment to animals, whether it’s preparing quality breakfasts, taking long, enriching walks, or engaging them with snuffle mats, nose work, agility, and training. We’ve even rescued several animals together, including baby ducks we reunited with their parents and even a neighbor’s dog that showed up at the back door of our Airbnb one cold, snowy day while we were on vacation. We took it in to warm up for an hour until we could return it safely. She always puts the animal’s well-being first. Before we moved to California, she volunteered at the Seattle Humane Society, learning how to walk and care for dogs with different personalities and temperaments. And while on vacation in Hawaii, she even arranged for us to take a shelter dog on a field trip so it could enjoy park walks, treats, and shopping for a new toy. Janelle treats every animal with the same care and affection she gives our own, and she is as trustworthy as she is kind.
